I've had my mug press for quite some time now and I've been afraid to use it because I haven't been able to find crystal clear step by step tutorials until now. Because of your tutorial I made my first two mugs today. Thank you so much for making it easy. I definitely will be making a lot more mugs and tumblers in the future because of you.
Oh YAY!!! Glad I could help! ❤️
@@KatieAdams Excellent video! Thank you!
Hello
Thank you for your videos. I am trying hard to follow you however, when I select "color" to get "pattern" my uploaded picture is not in the "pattern" dropdown menu?? I NEED HELP! I have made 4 mugs but none with photos. I have been attempting this for hours!! :(
I'm sorry you are running into issues. Make sure to scroll down on the patterns. The newest don't always show at the top. So you'll need to scroll through all of the patterns to find your image.
oof. I'm new to cricut stuff. I was hoping to use the mug press to make custom mugs off the drawings I do... but I only have an inkjet printer... do... do I need a whole different printer ENTIRELY to even make custom designs.....??? i'm commenting cause I cant find info anywhere on if I can just use the printer I have or not as I cant afford to purchase a sublimation printer..
If you want to print your designs, then yes. Sublimation only works with sublimation mugs, sublimation paper, and sublimation ink in a sublimation printer.
You can purchase sublimation markers that you can hand-draw onto sublimation paper and then press that onto your sublimation mug.
I just want to thank you for a great tutorial! I just made my first sublimated mug with my dog's photo. I especially loved how you walked so thoroughly through Canva. It's so intimidating but I followed your steps and it came out perfect! Thank you so much!
Great! You are so welcome!
Thank you so much ❤ I'll start with sublimation etc. and this was so helpful 🤗
I am so glad you found it helpful!
I NEED too know if i sublimation a photo on a dark green sublimation mug will my picture be affected by the green
Yes,, the mug's color will affect the sublimation ink's colors. Sublimation doesn't print white, so any white parts of the image will be the color of the mug. And yellow and green make blue, so any yellow parts of the design will look blue. As well as any other colors will have a green hint. Sublimation is best done on white or really light colors.
Anyone else couldn’t find their pattern? I’m going bananas over it T-T
I'm sorry you are running into issues. Make sure to scroll down on the patterns. The newest don't always show at the top. So you'll need to scroll through all of the patterns to find your image.
I tried this and it kept printing just the one side of the pattern. Didn’t work right. Is there a few steps missing?? Setup features needed??
I am sorry it is giving you trouble. Others have follow these steps and not had an issue, so I am not sure sure what may be missing.
So disapoint I fell for cricuts fake advertising, can't do images without a very expensive printer and very expensive ink, and the cricut cutter is not even needed.
Can't do much of anything without spending hundreds more for accessory and other supplies.
I am so sorry you aren't a fan of Cricut, that is ok. I am trying to help those who are fans and looking for tutorials.
Can I ask what paper did you use and is this dishwasher safe?
If washed in the dishwasher the image will fade so it is best to hand wash.
I used sublimation paper. I ahve a complete supply list in the description of the video.
How time and temperature you recomend for mug sublimation ? My problem is that, when i print to paper it is normal. But after sublimation it will change colors to orange.
Now i use 180 °C and time 155-170 seconds. How i get look as original image ? Thanks
Time and temperature can vary with different products. I recommend checking the settings for the products that you used.
Can i do this process even without a cricut mug press?
For sublimation to work, you'll need to use a sublimation blank mug, a sublimation printer to print your design a mug or tumbler press. Any brand will work.
hi, I'm editing at ps.Actually, I'm following the path exactly like you are doing.I put two pictures side by side and turn one horizontally. In this way, they become symmetrical. However, although there is no space between the pictures, a line forms every once in a while. How can I prevent this?
There is a spacing button in Canva, make sure the space is at 0.
@@KatieAdams i have tried it before. No matter what I do, the line forms...
@@aleynaakbas-o6q hmmm that is strange. It sounds like it might be a bug in Canva. You could try reaching out to them. Sorry, I'm not more help.
Love the video, just a question, the sublimation printer is it a cricut mug press machine?
The sublimation printer, is an Epson EcoTank that I converted into a sublimation printer. The mug press is the machine used to transfer the sublimation onto the mug.
I know it is all confusing. Feel free to ask more questions if you need any clarification.
IS this process the same to do on other items? Such as tumblers?
It is the same process, although you will need a larger print for the taller tumblers.
you failed to say what paper you used for the print
Click down to the description of the video and I share all supplies used. Thanks for watching!
Is it like a specific paper that I need?
Yes, you need sublimation paper, and you also need to make sure you have a sublimation printer.
was it sublimation paper that was used?
Click down to the description of the video and I share all supplies used. Thanks for watching!
Didn't you have to mirror it before you print
This print doesn't include words and has two images together, and one is already mirrored. So even if I mirrored I would still have one image normal and one image mirrored. BUT if you have words you most definitely need to mirror.
what if you have to print a lot of mugs?
You can print multiple from Cricut Design Space.
Wow 4 mins in and I’m hooked - you are good lady - great start for my business start up thanks .
You're so welcome!
Thank you SO much for this. I was at my wit's end. Do you think that colors would be more vibrant if this was printed from another program?
You are welcome, I am so glad you found it helpful! Printing through other programs can change the colors just a bit. Although, the colors printed are not the same colors that are transferred. The printed colors are much more dull than the finished project.
I loved this tutorial video explains everything so perfect 💪🏽🙌🏽🙏🏽😊
I am so glad you like it, thank you!
Loved this tutorial. Do clear of the steps. Thank you. On my way to make my first mug. 😊
You are so welcome!
What type of paper did you use?
I used ASub 120 which is sublimation paper.
There are links to all products used in the description of the video.
Yes, absolutely. Both of you are so cute 💞. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks for watching!
Just wanted to thank you for this video. I have watched others and was lost, your step by step is wonderful! Thanks again! 😊
You are so welcome! I am glad it helped you.
Do you use butcher paper?
Yes, you need an extra sheet of paper to catch the excess sublimation ink as you are pressing. For this mug I just used an extra sheet of printer paper.
Which software u r using and is it free please reply
I need it urgently
I am using Cricut Design Space. It is only available to those who have a Cricut Cutting Machine.
@@KatieAdams shit!
Can u suggest me any other free website to make design with fix sizes also
Pls
@@keshupandey5921 have you tried canva.com
Aren't you supposed to mirror the images I'm new so not sure
This design doesn't have words and two images side by side where one is mirrored. So for this design it does not need to be mirrored. If you had words however, then yes, you would want to mirror.
@@KatieAdams Thanks im new at sublimation so im not sure how all this works yet
@@JelscreationsNmore No worries. I am happy to help.
My mom is trying to do this stuff on a mug and it doesn't transfer on to the mug and she comes to me about this stuff as if i know the answer. My mom needs a step by step instructions from doing a picture, then print and cut, correct ink and paper just everything from the start to finish. Who can help her
She needs to make sure that she is using sublimation paper and sublimation mugs. This technique doesn't work with any paper or mug.
This video goes through step by step, and I have a written tutorial as well.
thecraftyblogstalker.com/photo-mug-sublimation-print-in-cricut-design-space/
This was great and so thorough I’m new to this and I’m trying to see how it easy it is to create before I purchase printers and mug presses.. do you have video on ornaments with sublimation and cricut design?
Thank you so much! I do not have tutorials on ornament sublimation, but I guess I need to add that to the list!.
When I open in design space it shows what I made in Canva but adds a partial 3rd pic....I've tried several times.
Try going back to Canva and make surer you only have one page with your design on it. It sounds like is it is grabbing a second page.
wonderfull explanation, i am new at sublimation en cricut i am going to try it todat x thans
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this! I am just starting out and I spent the whole afternoon desperately trying to figure out how to do this. This video is really going to help confused noobs like me!
I am so glad it helped!!
This worked perfectly. What a clear and easy to follow tutorial. Thanks so much!
Glad it helped!
How does this hold up to dishwasher or hand washing ? Does it fade more with time or peel off ?
It holds up better if handwash. This mug I have had for about two years now and has been washed in the dishwasher and it has started to fade. The ink doesn't peel off but it can fade.
Why does the child's hair in my photo come out orange. 😢
Sublimation ink doesn't look correct until it is pressed.
@KatieAdams but it's orange after it's pressed. Trying to do photos of my kids in my class and the one girls hair is horribly orange hahaha
@@shellyampie Oh no, yes that is a problem. It could either be the ink you are using or your printer settings. I'm sorry but I don't know how to dive into that.
@KatieAdams thank you for at least answering I appreciate it 💗
Bonjour vous mettez quel réglage pour l’impression ?
I use the best quality for printing sublimation prints.
I'd never used canva before and I found it a breeze! thank you so much, made my first mug with your step by step amazing tutorial!
Yay!! I am so glad! ❤️
i don't have a sublimation printer will there be a problem with the mug.
This will only work if you have a sublimation printer, and a sublimation blank mug.
Love this video and I am so frustrated because I keep following the steps, but every time I go to put my pattern on the mug template in design space, there is my picture, but then there is also part of the same picture off to the right. I've gone back into canva and done it exactly like you did it three different times, but with the same result. Can anyone help????
I am not exactly sure what you are describing? Can you delete the image that is to the right of the mug template.
@@KatieAdams I noticed that another viewer had the same problem several months ago...maybe her description makes more sense.
"When I open in design space it shows what I made in Canva but adds a partial 3rd pic....I've tried several times
@@cindygable881 I am so sorry, but I cannot replicate this problem, so I am not sure what is happening.
Great video! When I go to make it I'm getting double registration lines. My image "pattern" has a black box around it. I tried redoing the image in canva and making it bigger and it didn't help - any ideas on how to correct?
I am not sure, it may be a printer issue. I am sorry I can't help more.
Mine had that too, I thought it was a registration line but my image was highlighted, I clicked off of it and it went away 🤦♀️ hopefully that’s what yours is doing too!
I’m new to sublimation and this tutorial has helped me and was amazing so thank you ❤
Thank you so much! Happy to help. ❤️
Question, once you've sublimated this as in your video, can you go back and add text and run through mug press again? Do you have a video wrapping it all around in photo like this but adding text?
Once you have sublimated an item, you should not put it in the heat press again. The heat will cause you to burn the original sublimation ink and it will brown and lighten.
I'd also love to know how to add text 🤞
Thank you so much for this video!!! It helped me so much!
Glad it helped!
its not letting me upload the pattern
I need more information to be able to help. Are you uploading to Cricut Design Space or Canva? Are you working from a device or computer?
@@KatieAdams im working from a laptop mac book and im uploading It to design space
@@dawsonvogelaar3951 are you uploading an image or a pattern? Where along the tutorial did it go wrong for you?
@@KatieAdams 4:21 in the video is where its not telling me upload it
@@dawsonvogelaar3951 OK now I think we're on the same page. What format did you save your picture on Canva? It should be saved as a JPEG or PNG. Is Cricut Design Space giving you any kind of error when you are uploading?
Just the tutorial I needed. Thank you!
You're welcome!
OK silly question as Im new to this and really excited and keen to get started. Once you have you photo all done and ready to put in the mug press what infusable ink does it print on. Can you get a plain sheet given the many colours in a picture. This may be the stupidest question. its the printing of the pic before it goes onto the mug in lost with. What do i print it onto before going onto the mug. Appreciate your help
For sublimation you must make sure that you are using only sublimation materials. So you'll need a sublimation printer that is filled with sublimation ink. You'll also must need sublimation paper. I like ASub 120.
And don't worry, there are no silly questions when you are trying to learn.
If you want to learn more about sublimation printers, I have a tutorial on convert an Epson office printer into a sublimation printer. ua-cam.com/video/_tTV0ghI2O0/v-deo.html
@@KatieAdams so I will have the cricut maker 3 and will have sublimation mugs and will purchase sublimation plain white paper. Does that all sound right. I'm so excited to start crafting again just want to be sure before I make the big jump and get everything
@@countrygirlmel1982 The Cricut Maker 3 isn't a printer, it is a cutter. Unless you are referring to Infusible Ink. Infusible ink is basically sheets of sublimation paper that you would cut the design out of.
@@countrygirlmel1982 You are welcome, always happy to help!
@@KatieAdams I'm so out of the loop with technology these days. I used to be so crafty and onto all this but things change so quick. So my cart of items is going to include the cricut maker 3, cricut mug press, sublimation printer and paper and a few other little bits and pieces. I absolutely loved your mug you produced so one last question. Once you printed your photo from your sublimation printer onto the sublimation paper you put it then through the cricut to cut to size and wrapped in transfer tape and into the mug press. No more stupid questions I promise. This dumbo will click and it will sink in
Thanks for the tip
You are welcome!
With paper do you use to print the picture?
You either need to use sublimation paper, or inkjet and laser paper works too. (not copy paper)
Great vid
Thanks so much!
For some reason my image isn’t listed under the pattern type. I’m not sure what i did wrong
You may have to scroll down a bit. For some reason it never shows it at the top after you download.

This didn’t work for me. I have A-sub subliminal paper, I have the espon printer to print, the circuit mug, the right tape, yet the image doesn’t transfer.
Are you using sublimation ink? You can't use the ink that comes with the printer.
No. Didn’t know that. How do you print with the right ink?
@@jessdavies2213 I have a video about converting a printer to sublimation ink. ua-cam.com/video/_tTV0ghI2O0/v-deo.html
@@KatieAdams do you have one to get ink out of the printer to replace it with the needed ink?
@@jessdavies2213 Yes you do, the two inks can't mix, otherwise the sublimation ink won't work as intended. You'll need to run the ink out by printing pages. It can take lots of paper especially if the ink was just filled. But you have to get all of the original ink out of the printer lines.
What paper do I use please?
You'll want to use sublimation paper. In the description of the video I have a link to the sublimation paper I use.
Bogos binted?
I am sorry but I am not sure what you are asking.
@@KatieAdams I forgor💀
Do you mirror it
This design does not have words, so it's not as important. But if your design does have words you will want to mirror.
