the werehog did not deserve the overwhelming amount of hate it got, change my mind
true 😢 every time i try to find a game
play the host or youtuber just talks about how much they hate the night
tm
time stages 😢
but sonic unleashed is one of the best sonic games there is😊😊😊
Why would I change your mind, you’re right
@@sytheapolinario8963 probably cuz they took too many ideas from dragon ball idk
You say change my mind as if your mind needs to be changed
I cant change the truth
As a huge fan of both Sonic and God of War, the Werehog is like a dream come true!
Exactly!
So many hated on the Warehog formula but didn’t realize that they were dissing God of War too.
The influence from GoW is huge 😅
@@Spokiez Yeah but its just a significantly worser version of God Of War, also Sonic isnt supposed to have God Of War gameplay. Not that I personally dislike the werehog gameplay but peoples distain for it is justified.
@@projectmessiah I just think that if I liked the Werehog stages, I would like God of War
@@projectmessiahbut he is supposed to have party games, death mystery solving games, and sports games. No Sonic is a character who constantly tries new styles and saying this is the only wrong one is stupid.
@@Jlopezocasio No. Sonic constantly trying new things and usually failing or just making a crappier version of something else is part of the reason why Sonic fell off in popularity as a series. Not that I per say hate everytime Sonic tried something different, like I said Unleashed was good imo and I'm also a fan of Sonic And The Black Knight to name another, but my point is that at its core Sonic is an fast paced adventure/Platforming series and fans not liking him suddenly becoming God Of War for furrys is pretty reasonable.
I will NEVER forget this game. My first and only Sonic game, got it for Christmas in 2010 on the Wii 🤧
Same, i got it from my father, and i played it on ps2. Loved it so much, and i actually loved werehog more than sonic runs 😅
Play Adventure 1 and 2 and Frontiers. Those are all the best games. Tgen Heroes
Wait this is on the wii
Same!
I freakin remember this game cause my brother introduced me to it and there were times where I watched him play and that one time I played a little myself but I kept interrupting him while he was doing his homework (we were both in kindergarten I think) but anyways there was one of the levels where I kept getting stuck and I remember how I would always call for him and ask for his help to the point where he just got pissed off at me and than turned the game off than after that….we fought and argued…..yeeeaaaaaah
I honestly love the Werehog I loved how beautifully animated and designed he was. I loved his gameplay and the music that played in his stages. For years now I've had a Werehog plush that I keep by my side especially in times when I'm feeling depressed overwhelmed and stressed out It helps calm me down and makes me feel better. the Werehog continues to inspire me and excite me. I really wish he could make a comeback to the series somehow. And I swear if he ever makes an appearance in the movies, I'm going to have a fangasm.
The most confusing part is that this game released in 2008, and still looks absolutely beautiful today!
Agreed the best looking Sonic game to date
unless you played it on the wii xD
@@nomadrl91x Equal exchange, no medal collecting, but you are sentenced with wii graphics, and charged with a lifetime penalty. 😂
@@nomadrl91x but gameplay on wii version is great
@@kimon4564 It doesn’t compare to the HD version. Still fun though
The werehog stages gave us godly music, say what you want, I’m jamming to windmill isle: night, and you can’t stop me
Battle Music flag programmers:
*🎶🎺THAT SOUNDS LIKE A CHALLENGE!🎶🎺*
Bruh the amount of memes with Unleashed’s ost is amazing
It’s in my top 3 soundtracks
My favorite soundtracks are probably Rooftop run night and shamar night
It was the China Beijing I believe it was night time music for me, that was my night time music to sleep with.
Honestly, I always thought they were super cool. I never got to play them that much, but I was always amazed by the Werehog thing. Sonic just looked so badass and wild! And the stretch arms thing was a pretty cool idea as well!
The Werehog was a great addition. I actually looked forward to playing it over the day time stages
I am glad someone else understands how great the werehog was. Sure it was a silly concept to make Sonic a werehog, but the benefits outweigh that, by giving Sonic new skills other than just homing attacks and boosting all the time. He gains combat skills similar to Knuckles.
Exactly, holding the boost button and going from point A to B eventually gets tiring and the night staged gave you some time to breathe and then enjoy the fast day stages again, this is actually one of the reasons why later Sonic games felt so boring with the level design getting worse plus the only thing you did was boost your way to the end
Unleashed is an interesting game, and an underrated one.
Def not underrated, the sonic community usually recognizes it as the best sonic game of all time
@@whyarenamessohardtocomeupw9015 They acknowledge it's good, but they definitely don't say it's the best Sonic game of all time. That is hella cap.
@@burgermike92 I’ve seen a lot of people say it’s there number 1, the only others I have seen are people saying generations or mania. But I’ve seen way more unleashed fans
@Why are names so Hard to come up with That's not everyone though. Saying the whole community usually recognizes it as the best Sonic game of all time is not the same as someone PERSONALLY ranking it their #1. And if we're asking the community it's either Generations, Mania, or S3K.
@@burgermike92, have you EVER interacted with any sonic community?
His battle theme was so good you can’t deny that
I mean I liked it initially, its just having to hear it every...single...time I started a battle made me gradually grow to hate it
@@lancestriker0111 that and it'd prevent the usual night themes from playing. i liked cool edge and jungle joyride night themes a lot better than the battle theme
Can we just get a quick wake up call on how the opening cutscene is over a decade old and still better than most games?!
I think the Werehog is pretty fun change of pace until you get to Empire City, then it's just pretty annoying for that difficulty spike.
Replayed the game, and my problem can be boiled down to a skill issue.
The platforming yeah sure, but the combat it's still pretty much the same
Empire City was always my favorite Werehog stage due to its great challenge. I wished the other levels were just as difficult
@@gadlites8841 I didn't say it was bad, just kinda annoying from that point on
Skyscraper Scamper was straight terrible. It was unnecessarily hard and unnecessarily long. The first few levels like Rooftop Run and Dragon Road had the perfect balance between challenging and engaging. SS just makes you do a whole bunch of stupid balancing over bottomless pits and buzzsaws as well as fighting enemies in small, cramped areas. It's awful.
"Difficulty spike"... I see what u did there lol
I always enjoyed the Werehog gameplay, even as a kid. I always loved using all of the combos, especially the one when you turn into a wheel. The Werehog gameplay may be slow, but I've always loved it personally. Unleashed is just my favorite Sonic game in general
Yes
Fr I would spam the hell out of the wheel move 🤣 and yeah I love the Werehog man, stringing combos is great
@Broman2.0 u played the wii version? That is sad.
I will never forget windmill isle act 2 because I had the demo for a couple of years before I got the full version and I had so much fun playing Unleashed as a kid, and still do to this day.
@@arandompuffy1677 I wish I could play Unleashed, but after SEGA removed all of the Sonic Games from the PlayStation Store, I didn’t get the chance to buy it. I still wish I got it when I had the chance.
I just wish more of the sonic crew had gotten involved. Would have been fun seeing how Shadow reacted to the situation, for example.
It was ironically night and day for this guy. Hated the day he was released, but over the nights, he was loved by all.
Someone should make a petition to bring back the Wherehog in newer Sonic games because I think lots of people would like that
(Everyone liked that)
At this point you might as well throw in Kiryu and Majima
No. No please no.
@@vinegro4579lol someone who geta it! So many people looking at this game through nostalgia glasses apparently. Yes the graphics on the intro were ahead of their time and the idea for the werehog was cool af and there were moments but it was not fun to play throughout for me.
@@michaellaidley8644there exists something called opinion, i replayed through the werehog sections and I personally liked them.
But if you dont like it's totally fine😁
The werehog is amazing and total badass
No cap 100%. The Werehog is what I needed as a kid to like even more Sonic Unleashed
I agree with you 100%
The werehog levels are my favorites in the game! I think it's really fun to get through them, and I enjoy the slower and more thought out gameplay as opposed to the fast paced and stressful gameplay
I genuinely love the werehog levels with all the unique combos of buttons that perform special attacks. It super fun to learn them as combos to get easy kills
Unleashed is underrated I loved it when I was younger
Nice to see the Werehog getting some shine. I still revisit Sonic Unleashed from time to time.
WE BE FEELIN' LIKE A MONSTER WITH THIS ONE🥶🥶🥶🗣️🔥🗣️🔥🥶🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥
Unleashed was HEAVILY underrated, Frontiers followed a similar formula and it came out spectacular
I'll assume that has to do with the whole concept of Werehog compared to say: Super Sonic beating the crap out of the Titans.
The Werehog was a unique idea which I think is very underrated. The gameplay was for me personally fun and the design is wonderful!
Werehog was fun as hell after you level him up and expand his combos
If Tangle the Lemur becomes playable in a mainline Sonic game, I think the Werehog should serve as an inspiration for Tangle’s gameplay
Unleashed was my first sonic game, I’ve been loving it for the past 11 years.
my only complaints are some stages definitely could've been shortened and the battle music should be able to be toggled off lol. the night stage music is too damn to good always be interrupted
Honestly the worst part about replaying Unleashed now is having the night music interrupted 😭 also the boost filter, like yeah it was cool but I really wanna turn it off now lol
I honestly just wish it was a different song per location, I think it would make the first battle in a new place so much more interesting
@@madproductionsss4831 exactly, perfect fix
BumbadoombadoomBADOOMBADOOMBAAAAAAAAAAA
To be fair! SEGA added variations of the battle theme. And more than 4 of them lol. Imagine if there was only 1 version played every time
I never considered the Werehog bad. It was one of the best ideas. Some parts may not have been well thought-out (trying to balance on certain sections while the camera is out to kill you), but Werehog was a very welcome addition to the game and I'm glad it was done!
This is just straight up nostalgia and I’m crying because of it the music of the game and the feeling of a kid you just couldn’t wait to play it
The Werehog has always been on of my favorite sonic forms ive always thought its super cool i love how much stuff you can upgrade and that we have a health bar instead of dropping all our rings in one hit. He will always be a favorite
I personally like the werehog. Wailing on groups of enemies is pretty satisfying.
The night time stages music though will never get old.
Even the battle theme? *Jazz intensifies*
@@memehawk12 it still a great music, just over used
@@b-fenix5789 cheers, I'll drink to that
Any of ya'll remember the werehog sonic video with the monter song playing in the background? No? Ok.
The werehog version of Sonic is & will always be remembered since 2008
I lowkey wish werehog Sonic made a comeback. Playing as him was pretty fresh and fun for me.
Sonic did with sonic frontier
i dont have an issue with the werehog in concept, I just wish they made the level design more interesting, more platforming/exploration focused, and maybe made the combat a little more fluid and fast paced. As it stands in game, its clunky.
the best part about the werehog was the platforming and exploring, for example theres alot of cool skips you can do when you use your aerial moves and the clock tower section is the most fun platforming in the entire game
I still remember getting stuck in the first 30 minutes of gameplay. Now im gunna have to warch a lets play
I played this game over and over when I was in middle school and it’s still one of my favorite sonic games. When I learned people hated it it made me a bit sad but now years later people seem to actually appreciate the game which I’m glad to see.
Sonic the Werehog could be a reference to ristar as they have very similar move sets
I, for one, also enjoyed the Werehog a lot! Listening to the chill and calm night music, seeing all the moves he could do (though I couldn't pull off a lot of them qwo), and upgrading his powers.
I also like the transformation as I'm a sucker for beastial things.
It's definitely an underrated gameplay style (and transformation) for sure
When I first encountered Werehog as a smol child playing the sonic games I was initially confused, but eventually I grew to love doggo sonic.
this gave the most euphoric nostalgia trip i ever had
Werehog sonic was great like the combo and stuff was awesome i even love it when i first watched sonic unleashed gameplay the first time
Nostalgia sure does blind people.
I always loved werehog stages the music is amazing js gets ruined by battle music and the stages were mostly fun
Ah yes "Nostalgia" Totally isnt because we actually enjoy the Mechanic.
@@Anti-xc if you have PS3 or Xbox 360 you can remove the annoying battle music in the game
If there was ever a new sonic rep added to smash, werehog would be my first pick.
Unleashed was my first Sonic game, and I genuinely love the Werehog several times more than normal Sonic, I was always disappointed when I had to do daytime stages
i played unleashed for the first time this year, and i was very neutral on the werehog, but i grew to adore him. i personally think the platforming and the combat are really good in the night levels
Sonic The Werehog is rocking wicked 🤘
Honestly, the music was top tier. Remember it like Mario and Kirby themes. Stuck in your head for life. It really was incredible.
I was really hyped when I saw sonic turn into the were hog and I wanted to see more of him after unleashed
I loved the Werehog as a kid he's awesome
I love Unleashed its gameplay, story, soundtrack, and the Werehog are what make a sonic game a masterpiece.
this game was my childhood so i will always love it. and the cutscene in the beginning was unmatched for years one of my favorite of all time
They tried something new AND unique for the series. And if not anything, it is unbelievably memorable since it’s such a wild event
Upon replaying Unleashed as an adult, I found the werehog sections to drag on just as everyone has complained about. However, around the middle of the game, after I had unlocked a majority of his combos and upgraded him, I found the werehog's gameplay to be a blast. I just think he starts off too vanilla with not enough combos in our arsenal.
The werehog was honestly pretty fun despite the level length, the combos were fun to pull off together and provided a nice break from reaction based gameplay to slower but calmer gameplay. Though alternate battle music or an off switch definetly could be made.
I feel like if the werehog stages weren't nearly as long and didnt have the battle music kick in every single time you enter a fight, they would be more fondly remembered
The way werehog runs on tiptoes(bipedal run) felt hillarious. Neat~!
I loved the more chill nighttime music and atmosphere and It was a good excuse to let us explore more of the very detailed world of Unleashed, I just wish the battle theme was used exclusively for minibosses or enemy gauntlets.
SEGA should bring back the Wearhog to future Sonic games.
Sorry to say this but unless they bring back dark gaia thats literraly impossible . Because the whole reason sonic turns into a werehog is that he absorbs some of dark gaia’s power at the begining and near the end dark gaia takes that power back
Good day stages until Eggman land, which is literally hell
Not only did I enjoy those werehog levels. It also bring an idea that anyone that isn't a fast character like Sonic could also work in similar gameplay.
Love him too
Love his design and abilities, if they made him a bit faster then you'd have no complaints from me
And let’s not forget the blasting oh loud jazz music that kicks up every time a fight sequence starts during the nighttime sections. 🤣
I like the werehog even though maybe skill progession is a bit slow. I like its platforms sections as well and the mood of a lot of stages. Unleashed was a great game!
Werehog was fun. It had the best combat even compared to sonic frontiers where it just felt like things were a little automated.
Maybe you had auto combo on lol
@@skydoesminecraftfann lol no I had it off. I mean they require little to no effort to use and had too many animations.. The combat in frontiers is still good, but it could be better.
@@theswig2339 yeah fair enough it was far too easy, i played on hard and literally didn’t struggle on an actual fight once throughout the whole game
@@skydoesminecraftfann For what it’s worth, I really do hope they experiment more with the combat because it has a lot of potential. The only fights I think has A BIT of a challenge would have to be the enemies of Ouranos island. The End was just tedious for me sadly, I was hoping for something a little more interesting.
@@theswig2339 yeah hahaha when i finished the end i absolutely refused to believe that that was the actual final boss, a space invaders level with a 10 second unfailable QTE at the end
Sonic Unleashed took two core aspects of Sonic games and both separated and amplified them. Daytime is nothing but the high-speed roller coaster segments while Nighttime is all about the slower platforming bits that are much more difficult to just speed through (think Flying Battery Zone from S&K), with some beat-em-up combat mechanics to shake things up a bit. The platforming is especially prominent in the later Nighttime stages (at least in the Wii version, I never played the HD version).
I had fun with all of it, personally.
I agree! For someone whos not a big sonic fan, it gives you a breather with the fast paced levels and let you relax and enjoy some neat combat mechs and combos
The only time I was ever annoyed of the Warehog sections was in Eggman Land.
Yes, he wasn't bad, just poorly executed.
I loved werehog even before I found out about the hate. (Years later aka a few months ago) it was fun and really showed me another side of sonic.
The Werehog game was a good change of pace cuz all Sonic games are normally fast paced to match Sonic's speed the Werehog really slowed things down so you can enjoy the game more and the stretching and strength of Sonic in Werehog form is also a great change of pace cuz it's good for getting around and getting to places you couldn't normally be able to reach less you were like Knuckles or Tails or were Sonic with Tails and the design is also amazing, I hope Sonic will have his Werehog form in 1 of his future live action movies
Considering I always enjoyed devil may cry seeing that style of gameplay brought to Sonic was really fun.
I REALLY HOPE THEY MAKE A SONIC UNLEASHED REMAKE
for like all my life i’ve consistently listened to the music of this game. it’s so good especially the night stages. arid sands and cool edge night music are easily my favourite of em
Everybody asks “Werehog?” but nobody asks “Howhog?”
I’m a sucker for any type of werewolf transformation so no doubt this was an interesting concept for Sonic the Hedgehog, and underrated as well, I want the Werehog to make a comeback
those cinematic cutscenes were sum crucial
I think it’s interesting when you look at all the individual pieces of a sonic game, they’re all pretty fun and cool pieces, but then you put them all together and it’s a werehog beating up shadow people while a jazz band losses their mind
I can still hear the werehog fight soundtrack in my head to this day
werehog basically unlocked my love for beat 'em up/ hack and slash games
This brought back a childhood memory
Also the Night stage music just slaps way harder than some of the day stages
Unlocked a childhood experience I would never have again 😢
Werehog walked so Frontiers could run
"it's hiding in the dark, it's teeth are razor sharp"
It was such a great change of pace to the Sonic games
The werehog stages get fun when you unlock more moves
This gameplay was awesome, I really love the idea of making sonic into a werewolf version of him
I remember playing this when I was young I used to love the werehog, it kind of gave the game a crash bandicoot feel and I was all in for it💯
The one time i heard the werehog was the sonic werehog II skillet monster
I was a kid and God dam i got main character vibes
Unleashed feels like the Sonic equivalent to Twilight Princess, Black Knight had the same feel too and i love it
Werehog sonic was one of the coolest things ever introduced in sonic
This game was my first and only Sonic game for a long time. I got it when I was 15, 4 years ago now, and while I did find it extremely challenging I still enjoyed it. I grew up only watching the Sonic shows for a long time and stumbled on The Night of the Werehog and it went from there.
I love the werehog. That was really fun.
One of my favorate games at the time i still miss this specific form
U just unlocked a childhood memory I had locked away for so long bro, loved playing this game with my brother when we were young
And man all I remember is that werehog used to scare us so bad 💀
