  • Brody Liford, of Mesa, an aspiring train conductor at age 5, knows only too well where to find the train set at Cardon Children’s Medical Center. He has been a patient there since the day he was born with lipomyelomeningocele-or tethered spinal cord syndrome-a rare neurological disorder where a fatty mass affects the spinal cord. The condition causes a range of progressive symptoms, including leg weakness. Petr Ruzicka, MD, a Banner Children’s neurosurgeon, and his surgical team have performed two operations on Brody and continue to oversee his medical care. His parents, Kimberly and Brian, hope to see Brody back out on the T-ball field soon.

Dr. Petr Ruzzicka saved my son’s life. So thankful to him and his blessed hands.
