This song represents every stage of loyalty and love. I would love to sit on a street corner and hand out daisies to strangers with the song playing. I have all the love I need at home! It's a privilege to remind others they are loved too!
Mom & Dad sang this to each other.....I found the sheet music for Mom to play on the piano! Dad's greatest joy was Mom's piano. Mom passed 1/1/22...Dad went to her..6/29/22... My 12 yr. old grandson gently reminded us " Papaw is with Mamaw his wish!" Blessing........
I used to sing this song all the time, not realizing its full import. But I do now. When my wife Dot passed in August 2021 after 51 years of marriage, I discovered this version and shared it with many others. I play it 2 or 3 times a day - if not 4 or 5; always with a box of Kleenex close by. Then I go up to "the hilltop" where our local cemetery is - almost walking distance - and I bring her "a Daisy a Day." Thanks for a great rendition, John - it runs through my head endlessly, and I can now sing it almost as well as you can. But not quite. Bob Bogash
Thanks. I always loved that song. I heard Jud Strunk perform it on the Tonight Show back in 1973 I think it was. He was actually a farmer from Main and just happened to have written a great song.
Jud would be happy you sang his song.. great job with this....He was friends with my Dad, and they had many nights around the piano while us kids spied on them..lol
what a beautiful version, filled w/ love and emotion. Great photos too. It makes me cry. ty for posting it. My husband used to sing it to me..may he rest in peace.
Thank you, dear friend. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I'll never forget the first time I heard Jud sing this song on the Tonight Show back in the early 70s. I loved it then and love it now.
John so glad to find some of your music online! Always fond memories of your singing in churches in Charlotte in the late 80's and 90's! Would love to hear 'San Antonio"!
We're sending a valentine card to friends and daisies on the card which opened up a little draw a my little brain the song came back into my heart so now I'm texting it out not my heart the song to open up many other hearts. What a legacy the song is
Mr. Houston, my sister and I had a cassette of your songs in the early 90s. We loved it so much we listened to it until it broke, and have been searching for your music for nearly three decades. We loved every song, but we don't know the name of the album and don't know if there is a way to purchase it again. It contained a song I believe was called "Rosanna", which we were very fond of. I believe it started "In a little white church down in Bayou country, down in South Louisiana..." Do you have a recording of that song that we could purchase as well? We are so fond of your music and I cannot believe we found you after years of searching
David. Friend me on Facebook, send me a message with your email address, and I will send you all my MP3 files with those songs and more. John Houston in High Point, NC. God bless.

Bob, I understand. Somehow being at the cemetery is a comfort to me too. Hang in there, dear. 🇺🇸 ❤️ 🌼

This could not be done better than this - the heartfelt vocal or the perfectly matched visuals. Love it! So would Jud Strunk.
