    Thank you! I had already done this process but couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t connect to the internet. I didn’t select bridge for network adapters during installation! Odly enough I took a nap and woke up to your video as a recommendation since I had been searching for a fix, thank you!!!!!!!

    Just finished with my installation, it was a success after 2 tries, unfortunately, the laptop started working slowly, got froze for like 20 min, after that it took 15 min to close the VMware. Thank you so much, Sir David, I tried. I Will look if I can upgrade my laptop.

    Thank you, David! A quick question, if you don't mind! Would installing Ubuntu and other operating systems on hypervisors such as VMWare be sufficient to write about in a CV in your opinion?
    Thanks in advance!

    • @davidbombal
      @davidbombal  4 роки тому +1

      I think that having an understanding of type 1 / type 2 hypervisors and vmware / virtualbox / ubuntu etc is always good to add to a CV. ESXi is popular and so is cloud. That is why Cisco are adding that kind of knowledge to their certs.

    • @davidbombal
      @davidbombal  4 роки тому

      Much tighter integration between Windows and Linux when using WSL 2. You can use Linux commands on Windows and Explorer to browse the Linux virtual drive, use VS Code to edit scripts on Linux etc. Very nice. Also very quick boot. However, I would probably still use VMware because I need nested virtualization for a lot of my work. To run Cisco IOS images inside Linux, I need VMware. However, that may not apply to you. I would test both and see what works for you. At the moment they don't work nicely together if you need nested virtualiztion.

    • @politron73
      @politron73 4 роки тому

      Hi David!. Like you, I really need VMware Workstation Pro to GNS3 and all my Nested VMs, but also I wanted to try WSL 2. Because I am using WSL 1 from few years, I have my Debian, Fedora, OpenSuse, Kali and Ubuntu wsl v1 full integrated with vscode terminal. I configured some python virtual env in each wsl distro and also conda (cli version of Anaconda) and conda virtual env , to test the scripts for my network automation journey. Also I installed LXC of Centos and Debian (without GUIs) inside the Ubuntu WSL1 (to try some of containers, yes, it works).The fact is that WSL 1 distros has no problem running simultaneosly with many VMware nested VMs. So I decided to give priority to VMware with WSL 1 instead only WSL 2, but I also installed WSL 2 inside a Win 10 2004 VM in my Workstation Pro 15.5.6., to still trying WSL2 (as temporal solution)--》It is working!. It's not what I wish, but is a good deal to still working with nested VMs, WSL1-VSCode integration and try WSL2. The hard work was upgrade the Win 10 VM to the new 2004 version (takes a long time and you need a 35 GB vmdisk).

      Nested virtualization is one. Also, clear separation of VM and OS. Export and import of OVA. Mature architecture. Just nice to have choices. To run Cisco IOS images using QEMU within Linux on Windows is one current need that I have for this. Having multiple options is good :)

    Ubuntu 20.04 should not have been released when it was. It is not stable. I might have to roll back to 18.04

    Hi
    David Bombal!
    I have installed dual boot ubuntu 20.04 and windows 10 on my pc intel 10th but there's no wired connection available in Ubuntu 20.04. (I'm sure that i plug the ethernet cable because It still works when i run windows)
    I download the "2.5G Ethernet LINUX driver r8125 for kernel up to 5.6" and follow the install instruction in this link: askubuntu.com/questions/1258241/no-ethernet-connection-available-in-ubuntu-20-04.
    However, when i ran sudo ./autorun.sh. Terminal shows that:
    "Check old driver and unload it
    Build the module and install
    ./autorun.sh: 30: make: not found"
    Could you please help me out with this problem
    Thank you!
