ABOUT LAW & ORDER
Created by Emmy Award-winning producer Dick Wolf, ""Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,"" now in its 24th season, is the longest-running primetime live-action series of all time.
This hard-hitting and emotional series from NBC's ""Law & Order"" brand chronicles the lives of the Special Victims Unit of the New York City Police Department, an elite squad of detectives who investigate crimes of sexual assault, child abuse and domestic violence.
As commander of the SVU, Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) is a seasoned veteran of the unit who has seen it all. Her team includes Sergeant Odafin ""Fin"" Tutuola (Ice T), Senior Detective Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) and the newest member of the squad, Detective Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano). Assistant District Attorney Dominick ""Sonny"" Carisi (Peter Scanavino) brings a fresh outlook to his cases while navigating the politics of the DA's office.

The good thing about a Law and Order series is that you can take a few decades off, return, and find it still going strong.
There are plenty of bizzare and absurb events in the courtroom that it could feed the series for more than a decade
with the same stupid pointless over used 5 story lines.
What I really like about American TVshow is that the morality of cops changes a lot depending on whether it's in NY, Miami, LA or Las Vegas. You know if the state the show is for is Republican or Democratic. And how much "progressist" or "conservative" the audience is.
@@craighanson-rc1mdbut it somehow still works. Lol
@@MsTinkerbelle87 Does it though. I don't think it really does I think its more of a case for many people there aren't many other options especially new shows so they will watch reruns or endless SUV which just have the same few stories but slight changes here & there in rotation & call them new.
The thing that I don't like about this scene is that IMO Carisi should have been allowed a great deal of latitude because I didn't see it as a stunt. It seemed to me like an extremely legitimate line of logic to go down to prove that the witness couldn't see in the dark at all.
Same here
This would never have been allowed in actual court
Why not? Seems like a perfectly reasonable way to test what she was saying.
Well the fact that he didn’t prove that the lighting courtroom conditions were identical to that of the bedroom, thus it doesn’t actually work to show how visible things were (unless it’s absolutely pitch black then there needs to be proof it was equally as bright/dim in both environments).
But beyond that, it doesn’t matter. What’s being questioned is not whether the woman on the stand could see in the dark, what was being questioned was whether or not the VICTIM could see in the dark. People don’t have equal eyesight. This is like testing whether or not someone could have heard something by testing an entirely different person on their hearing and using that to prove the first person’s hearing. For this to mean ANYTHING you’d have to test the victim’s capacity to see in the dark, which given the circumstance is inherently biased since she’d have obvious reason to just say she couldn’t see no matter what and you’d have no real way of proving her right or wrong.
Did you not hear his last question? If the accused can’t recognize her husband of ten years standing a few feet away with the lights off then how could she expect someone the victim they be able to recognize her through a blind fold in the dark. The lighting doesn’t have to be equal to prove that point. It’s like comparing injuries from car crashes; there has to similarities. It’s done all the time in court.
Sonny Carisi is truly one of the best examples of character development! He’s AMAZING!!!
A shame he has bad taste in women

She's been obsessed with Zoey since college. It's obvious their one time college fling meant more to her, but she should've been honest with Zoey about how she felt about her. Not SAing her and impregnating her against her will. She also should've been honest with her husband as well.
I'm sorry I missed this episode...WTF HAPPENED?!?!?
I would like a lil context plz
@@phantomflower6749 the lady on the stand pretended to be a man her best friend (the victim) was texting online and then told her best friend to meet her at a hotel room! (Still pretending to be the man) To which she SA’ed her and penetrated her with sperm she got from a clinic. It was her best friend’s (the victim) nephew (husband side) sperm. The victim was raped by this girl Who pretended to be a man, because she had been obseses with her friend the victim since college.
Yeah that was crazy.
The judge and the defense attorney berating Carisi is ridiculous, especially after the Judge allowed him latitude. Like I'm sorry but what "patience for his antics" is the Judge talking about? He was literally only doing this for ONE minute before she asked the bailiff to turn the lights back on. Also to be fair, if I remember correctly, the defense attorney opened this door.
It's poor writing to increase tension
It's a TV!! 🙄🤡
Bingo @@tatkkyo9911
They were not giving him a chance long enough to test out his theory
This episode was bananas. She was not a true friend. Who does that?!?! Sick 🤮
True friend to whom? And what made it sickening? 0:47
So, this is Season 24 Episode 16. The victim’s best friend catfished her on a dating app, tricked her into having a s*xual relationship involving BDSM, & used her (the victim’s) dead husband’s nephew’s sperm to try & get her pregnant. She lied to her, tricked her, & used her to fill some absence in her own life. (The ex-friend winds up being convicted for S*xual Abuse in the 3rd Degree. This would’ve meant she did less than 1yr max, but the victim wanted it negotiated down to probation.)
EXACTLY🤮
@@TheOddityFair Plus this is based on a true story. I remember seeing it in the news a few years ago.
@@TheOddityFair I hate shows like this. They always try and paint BDSM as such a horrible thing.
CariSi’s detective experience most of the time helps him win cases.
That's what I like about him, he uses his previous skills to his advantage

Carisi is SO badass! And I love how Liv is always about the victims; you could feel how sympathetic she was.
ive been married to my wife for 20 years, and after the first 5 years i could recognise my wife without being in the same room just by hearing her walk, it may sound like any random persons walking, but i know my wifes walk better than i know my own face in the mirror, and that was after 5 years, if this women couldnt recognise her husband in the dark after 10 years of marriage she never loved him once in her life
Yeah, that could've gone wrong in a big way. I could easily differentiate between my father, mother or brother walking up the wooden stairs in our home.
@@Afraidofloveandpeace i can even tell the difference between my identical triplet daughters with my eyes closed, and the only difference is so vague that to tell the difference shows how much i care about them
IDK - my dad has to announce that he's come into the room because my mum will just not hear him and he used to startle her when she'd look up and he had just suddenly appeared (aka, been standing in their room going about his business for a good five minutes or more.) He still 'sneaks up on her' sometimes. So while that's pretty true, maybe not a universal constant and especially not under high stress in an unfamiliar environment.
if a Lawyer tried this in a real court room in real life they'd be tripping over or walking into things XD

Hey, Einstein! It’s a TV SHOW! It’s FICTIONAL!
Defense: Objection! Judge: I’ll allow it for dramatic effect.
0:50 If the court stenographer can still continue to write the reports - in total darkness, keeping up with the conversations - that is impressive.
They don't look at their hands at all so it's easy 😊
Brilliant strategy by Carisi.
Accountability hits her in the face, yet she still figures out how to make herself a victim.
Carisi is a good lawyer, I have to say. Keep up the great work and stay awesome I can't wait to see more law and order 😀 🙌
You know isn’t that incredible with how long the shows been on the air, going back to the original Law and Order, yet we still want more. Just like we still love NCIS, which was a spin-off of Jag (10 seasons of jag, 20 of NCIS and three spin-offs..). Just shows crime does pay, well, seeing criminals lose pays
I still miss him as a cop
He was a good cop and it's made him a better DA
0:53 Monk would not have problem with that question :D
They finally gave carisi court room time to show how clever he is
In fact, he wasn't wearing a tie at all.
Lol. References. Nice one.
As soon as he said “what colour is my tie?” My mind went straight to the simpsons
Something that will shock and discredit you!
In the beginning, a reddish one.

I can't believe that Amanda Rollins and carisi are having a baby on law and order
Ikr!!!
Carisi is a good character, I will give him that, but Barba’s character was savage!
I gotta say, season 24 as a whole was just terrific. I liked the overarching storylines and the darker vibes.
I don't like that they got rid of Muncy. She was interesting. They should bring back Amanda full-time. And keep Muncy, Churlish and Bruno on like a rotating recurring basis.
well, they're strapped for money and viewership. Writers are rehashing old cases and actors are leaving. Muncy left, bruno gets very little screen time, and no one like churlish.
Agreed

O Desenvolvimento do Carisi como personagem é incrível, surreal como ele não lembra nem um pouco o detetive q entrou lá no início em SVU , fizeram um excelente trabalho com o Carisi...
She was such a crazy friend she wasn't even a friend she was an enemy😮
Carisi doesn't play! He doesn't tolerate lies & nonsense. & that judge needed to chill.
1:35 was a killer punchline.
What ep is this? Why not put the ep number in the description?
he really plays his part !!!
Carisi the man
Barba would be so proud!!
Usually, it ISN'T a woman who is the predator, but when it actually IS? It's even more heartbreaking than when it's a guy who could do such evil.
why should it be any worse?
just because the likelihood is less?
because it ruins the chivalrous image?
I dont like how people novelize female or juvenile criminals.
Neonfroot: Agreed. It’s not more heartbreaking, it’s just as heartbreaking. Women are human. Sure statistically some crimes are committed more by men than women, but I think that’s because many men are accustomed to a level of power they shouldn’t have and lash out when they think they deserve a level of control, meanwhile women are seen as incapable and often get away with things because “it shouldn’t be a woman, that’s too heartbreaking.”
Honestly it’s insulting to both sexes.
@@ashb7846 Right. People of all walks of life are able to do terrible things like theft, rape, and murder. Certain demographics are more likely, but that doesn’t mean we should stereotype them because it could leave us blind to a potential criminal who doesn’t fit the stereotypical bill.
Your first statement is incorrect. New studies are showing it's about 50/50 when including forced to penetrate. We don't even know how prolific female child predators are because they get no or reduced charges. Women get away with it because of benevolent sexism.
@@bryanwoods3373What study are you looking at that says it’s 50/50?
Even if there are more women who do such things than initially thought, that number doesn’t sound right at all
And..... Carisi for the mic drop! 💣🎤💥
BTW if you listen to the witness she said the other woman the "victim" knew it was her the witness so it's not really about if the witness can see in the dark but if the victim could or in some other way know it was the witness. It wasn't that dark but does go a long way on the jury.
It's been a while since I've watched svu and I had no idea Carisi became a lawyer! He seems to be doing a good job I guess with the help of being a detective
Barba tought him well
I feel like an interaction between Caisi and Miles Edgeworth would be incredibly entertaining.
That's shocking but I would do the same I wouldn't recognize either if I was in that position.
The camera is shaking too much.

Mistrial. As soon as Richard spoke..... He added info that didn't belong there and should not have been given to the jury.
Carisi is really good!
... and subsequently Carisi was fined and disciplined by the court.
i noticed that every time the defense wanted to spring a surprise on carisi the judge had no problem but when it was the other way around the judge had no patients at all a female defense attorney and a female judge not hard to see where the judges loyalty lies.
Which also would never happen in real life, they don’t like the defense at all
But its part true, things like this can happen
What a weird and off comment
This is was stupid bc if she knew it was her, why did they go down to the station together to make a report for assault? 😂😂

Completely irrelevant to this episode of this show but just taken on its own merits of what is shown here: There are drugs that can alter a person's night vision and perception. Olivia is taking almost every case on her own and being arrogant how she treats the small squad that is there.. refusing to hire anyone it seems justifys why she is in the forefront of every episode..in the past we never Capt kragen get involved in every case he let the squad handle everything.. that isn't the situation anymore.. honestly Olivia is slowly ruining what was once a great show to watch...
if the witness was already in a dark area prior to the incident, she may have been able to recognize the suspect. Suddenly shutting off the lights proves nothing. it can take as long as 30 minutes for your eyes to fully adjust to the dark.

average carisi W
I don’t really see how that proves anything. There’s almost no ambient light in the courtroom and it’s very possible that she would’ve been far more visible in a different room with the lights off. All he proved is that it’s hard to see things in the total darkness. That doesn’t mean there aren’t degrees to how dark something is.
Did you miss the part about the victim being blindfolded?
Well sounds like fantasy or delusion anyway. Don't watch this show don't know the context but that woman was doing some handmaids tale rapist thing and also expected the victim to be psychic or telepathic and know it was her too? That's some courtroom "drama" for sure.
Who cheats on Jeff?
OTT 🙄🙄
Granted I’ve watched this show from the beginning. The only part I don’t like is how they always think the women r right until the men prove otherwise. The same for today’s men being dragged in the mud and women just lie.
This is garbage. What are you trying to cover up?
no court would ever allow any of this lol

wtf was this case about...
Why / how is this show still on? Let it go, already.
Views? Clearly people like watching it and unlike other shows it hasn’t gone downhill in terms of quality. At least in my opinion.
Olivia is looking pretty haggard .
So she’s gay
And she cheated.. Orientation isn't an excuse card.
They aren’t even pretending that this show is anything other than a feel good melodrama with 0 realism. I miss the old seasons where things were realistic, dark and gritty and not every bad guy goes to jail.
