    A person can buy all the ingredients separately and still be cheaper and have more than $90.00 bag of feed

    Thank you for posting this video. We have been sprouting Scratch and Peck peas and barley for several months. This week I finally gave fermenting a try (S&P layer feed) and it was a HUGE success with the girls :-). I am wondering if sprouted grains can be fermented? If so, would this provide an additional health benefit, or simply be redundant?

    $100+ w/tax for a 50lb bag? This won't even last a month for 8 chickens and i'd be selling the eggs at a loss per week at $5 per dozen :( and no.. i'm Not charging 10 per dozen .. i don't live in Hollywood

    What about fermenting the pellets, with grubs? Is that possible. Thanks

    My avian vet said not to ferment food with fish or insect proteins as bacteria could easily grow. Your mash has fish meal and soldier fly larvae.
    He said only to ferment grains.

    Is it possible to ferment your Starter feed? The examples are all from the Layer feed so I couldn’t be sure if the Starter feed too can be fermented by using 1 cup feed to two cups water formula

      Yes it is! Just be sure to keep an eye on the chicks as they have a tendency to stand in their feed and this could get messy pretty quick :)

    I notice that you didn't mix it all up at first🤔 I tried this method with crumble, mixed well, and it smelled like vomit at the beginning of day 3😭
    Did I mix too much?

      You aren’t suppose to ferment the crumble version. :) Just the whole grain version of the feed.

      Yes, only use the fermenting process with grains. DO NOT USE THE FERMENTING PROCESS WITH PELLETS OR CRUMBLE. I've been fermenting my grains for years. The chickens go absolutely crazy for it. It's so healthy for them. There's so many benefits to fermenting grain for chickens.

    I apologize but though my chicks love Scratch and Peck dry, there is A LOT of dust in your product. I guess this a good way to not waste all the powder in your feed. But I wish it was more grains.

    • @markj7645
      @markj7645 3 роки тому +2

      My guess is that most of the powder are vitamins to round out the nutrition. But I too have a hard time getting the chickens to eat the leftover powder. I usually pour the powder into the new mix of feed. Any tips Scratch and Peck?

      @@markj7645 You are correct, Mark! The "powder" are fines which is full of the nutrients and vitamins important for your flock. The best way to ensure your flock gets all the nutrients in their diet is to ferment. However, we recently launched a pellet product that has all the same premium ingredients as our raw whole grains, but in the convenience of a pellet. It's a great option for flocks that are picky!
