Hey Crafty, are you aware that Inkscape (version 0.92 and later) has a builtin plot function? Look under Inkscape | Extensions | Plot. This runs HPGL plotter stream output, so you put the comm to the port your cutter is addressed by, and send the file directly to the cutter. I don't know if Cricut accepts HPGL or not, but RedSail vinyl cutters do, such as the SignWarehouse's R series cutters, and many, many other cutters, which are private label cutters built by RedSail, all identical. Widths on the cutters is not significant, they all take HPGL plot commands: Pen (cutter) up, Pen (cutter) down, Move to XY, etc.
Thanks for the tip Boogerhead0!!!!! But no, I was not aware. Actually, I have no idea with plot function is.....oh the shame. LOL At any rate, I'm sure that is great info for my viewers using Inkscape. Thanks again!!! Happy stoning!!!
Your holes for the stones have to be the appropriate size for the stones you are using. You would first size the design, then stone it out. Happy Stoning!
I know that this is on Ink Space, but my question is on sure cutz alot. I read that it is not compatible with the cricut. I want to buy it but won't if it won't work. it's on sale right now, could you tell me if this is the case.
Hi Alicia! Please see my other videos where I use SCAL to prepare the rhinestone files to be cut with the Cricut. You cannot cut directly from SCAL with the Cricut. I hope that helps. Happy stoning!!
Hi! Do you know if you can make a rhinestone scatter around words or an object in Inkscape or scal4 like you can in the rhinestone world software? Thank you!!
Hiya! I've never tried to do it in SCAL or Inkscape. I do have the TRW Design Wizard, so honestly if I ever have to do it, I just use that software. It is something to think about though. Thanks for your inquiry and thanks for watching! Happy Stoning!
chop master Hello. If you are designing the template then you decide what size stone you want to use. I typically use size SS10. If you buy a premade template, the designer will have determine the stone size you will be using. Happy stoning!
Hi, Jess. As stated in the video, I created a custom material setting to cut my rhinestone templates in Design Space. I don't think that there is a difference between the setting customization procedure for Explore and Explore Air.
Do you mean Air or Air 2? At any rate, the custom setting I created is using the regular blade not the deep cut. It may be different for Air 2, but I couldn't say.
I am desperately seeking some help on how to make a rhinestone template without a vinyl cutter. I am the President of a non-profit Greyhound adoption group and we would like to make perhaps 4 or 5 templates for our group to make T-shirts, etc. to sell at our annual picnic. Is there any way to manually create templates for 3mm (ss10) that looks good without a Silhouette or Cricut machine?
I'm sorry but I honestly have no idea how you would do that. I would suggest contacting The Rhinestone World (www.therhinestoneworld.com) about creating custom templates for you to use to make your shirts. They are super helpful!! Good luck and happy stoning when you get your templates!!!
Hiya! I see your comment is attached the Inkscape video. I have some videos on my channel where I'm using Sure Cuts A Lot and I detail the steps to get the design from SCAL to DS. Happy stoning!! :)
Hi Katie!!!! The Cricut only cuts the template. If you buy a ready made template file, the information that comes with that file should tell you what rhinestone size/sizes are being used in the design. If you design your own, of course, you will determine the size rhinestone that you will be using. I hope that answers your question. Happy stoning!!!
Hiya Tracy! Unfortunately, I cannot even begin to answer that question as I have no experience with the Expression machine at all. Also, I've only used SCAL 4. My suggestion is that you give it a try but use paper to experiment with first. Good luck and happy stoning!!!
