That Jones IV is only 24 years old, high character, and they can kick the tires before signing him to a long-term deals is icing on the cake. This move will turn out to rival the Avril, Bennett, Browner, Diggs, Love deal (and soon Robertson-Harris). Well done John, Mike, and the entire personnel department. I'm stoked!
He was fast enough, at least when healthy (not sure when that was when he was a Hawk, actually, but he was plenty range-y as a Dolphin). With the Hawks, he just couldn't get his gaps right, and didn't thump like Jones does. Good trade...if Jones plays well, re-signs and doesn't break the bank doing it.
This might actually be good. He has the tools and for only a 4th for a ILB which Seattle needed badly and is 24. It could be a win. You draft a guy and he's about age 24. You don't get a guy of his talent at in the 4th.
You get half a season with Ernest Jones before having to pay him. You get 4 years with a 4th round draft pick. That's a big difference. And you can get a good lb in the fourth round. Jones himself was only a third rounder. It's a big overpay on the trade value just like the Sam howell trade was, not to mention jamal adams.
Seahawks got lucky this year! Perfect players for this team are available this season, Finally. Rams needed to extend QB Stafford & plan ahead for OL extensions.
Interesting how the jags and titans have been good teams the past few years with a potential to be a factor, but since they’ve been down lately we’ve been able to pick out some of their key players for ourselves.

Bringing in this guy and the other guy from Jacksonville signals that the team has its sights on winning the NFC West this year. They give players a reasonable chance to prove themselves and then they move on decisively when it doesn't happen.
Bro just be straight up - can’t say the LB core was holding the Seahawks back and then immediately say Jerome Baker is a solid player. Reality is no one believed in Baker that’s why he is on a one year prove it deal. Let’s just say Baker needed to go, from what I saw he was terrible in more plays than not.
With three game losing streak, this team was dead. Now with a win against the Falcons and this trade for Ernest Jones, this team is going to Super Bowl. I guarantee this.
From my research, the primary criticism of Ernest is his coverage ability. If that is accurate, he is going to have to lift his game in that area. All in all, assuming coverage is not gonna be a liability, this appears to me to be a great trade with a ton of upside that fills a hole that has been hurting our run defense
I do not agree. Its not huge. JB is a very good LB. EJ is also a very good LB. EJ is heavier on the run and JB is more finesse. Sure scheme fit. But really when you look at the all 22, 0 is a much greater liability than 17. Unless you are blind. Not much improvement here. If he is tougher against the run, its a good move but expensive.

I'm loving this trade. Baker wasn't impressing me so far. And getting a younger more athlete/explosive player is a good move for this defense...

Jones is a major upgrade, Baker was horrible at the "point of attack "
