I bought my 2002 (Gen 1) Prius battery rebuild kit (NiMH) last year from electron automotive. No problem at all just putting the cells in. They balance themselves quite well - better than I could do it on a bench - because the cell voltages and battery zone temperatures are monitored in use.
Appreciate the free information but please invest and upgrade the microphone so we get better sound quality

When you have cells with a very flat charging curve, like LiFePO4, when you have to high of voltage difference, the current that will flow is massive. So you have to check if the voltage is a maximum of 0.1 voltage difference, otherwise your cables would burn of.
Better to connect them via busbars.
Remember these are new batteries so delta is very low in this case 👋😎

please discussed balanced charging and discharging.. ie 28 cells at a time @ 8.2 volts - 5 cycle charge/discharge - to regain capacity..

I already replace the bad battery cell and measured every battery cell and there all around 7.76 and 2 cells are 7.80. Would you recommend balancing them again and doing the process of discharging and charging them back up

On the Project Lithium website, it has this comment for the voltage equalizer regarding NiMH: "For NiMH pack, you can either use 2 sets of equalizer to cover both sides, or use 1 set of equalizer and copper bus bar to connect the other side." Can you show how you would balance a NiMH pack with both of these methods? (One with 2 sets of equalizers and another one with 1 equalizer and copper bus bar). Thanks!

I measured the voltage of the individual lithium batteries that just came in. All measured 13.6 V except #5 which measured 0 V. What's going on.
I'll check again tomorrow but shouldn't #5 have measured the same? All were sitting on my bench and none of the batteries were connected to any other.
Must be for sure the special blade…

Hi HSD I have just had installed a new hybrid battery on my Prius 2010 on module on the Dr Prius app is showing No10 very low it never bounces up as all the others do and its about .03 lower than the rest of the pack. does this indicate a faulty cell or what?
There is always a small diff but as long as the reading does not exceed the 1.2v of diff it should be just fine...

Check out Electron Automotive - I went there from a recommendation in a ChrisFix video and was very satisfied; the kit included spares for all the odd parts that could break or be lost. Their price is $1588 US but the website does not mention any availability issues. For $300 US more they offer a complete rebuilt replacement battery... again, I don't know about availability.
@@flagmichael You need to pay a core deposit. For us international users it will be a no go for all shops charging for cores or for a customer to send in their unserviceable battery. There's where these lithium battery replacements makes more economical sense.

@@hybridsolutiondiagnostics But that's not what the creator of that lithium battery you use recommends on his channel exactly he uses a light bulb. And the instructions don't seem to recommend balancing when you get it sir.
My take on it is the cells will equalize rapidly in service. Tens of amps flow back and forth in normal operation.

Can I take a 12v to 220v inventor and use the 220v coming out to charge and power the traction battery ?? It is 220v ac but would it work. Maybe a one way shiny to keep the power from back feeding ???
The battery is DC, so only use DC chargers for specific type of battery. Use can use a hobby charger that chargers many types of batteries 1 to 4 cells at a time

But after farther learning. Saying what I said and using a 12v dc to 220v inverter ac and then using a ac to dc rectifier tuning the 220v into dc from ac. Well I think I’m on that something. I think I’d supply 220-240v from 12v
Look up prolong charger around $700 and you get all connectors by selecting what vehicle your dealing with
