    #1, I would never leave my dog unattended in a crate, while I was in a hotel. Either sneak him in, or find a hotel that is dog friendly. #2, same key locks for cable lock, and the door will require the lock to be standard on every kennel thus raising the already high but worth every penny price. Or it would require complete retrofit of the door lock. and finally, #3, a tight door prevents rattles.

      I agree with you on all counts. However, regarding the door, I oiled the hinge recently and it’s performing way better.

      @@roshjackham My boy rides inside the truck on a platform that replaced the back seat. The door edge rattles with just about every bump in the road. I used split rubber tubing around the edges away from the hinge and all’s good now.

    I wouldn't leave the dog in the truck bed overnight unless in rural area alone. just an older guys advice.

    That’s such a sweet set up. Can you ride on a highway with it?

      Thanks! Yes I’ve done (and continue to do) many cross country trips with it. My biggest concern is just making sure my dog is comfortable given whatever the weather is doing, which we mitigate with either venting/ice packs/water (in the summer) or blankets and the new cold weather door accessory in the winter.

    $700+ is insane for a ….Dog crate…crash tested or not…$1300+ dog crates are crazy.

    Cracks me up that people spend $700 for a crash tested kennel and then buy the terrible straps that they sell. I wouldn't use those straps to tie down my knock-off yeti cooler. Those gunner straps are gonna fail in a crash.
    Good review vid.

      My experience has been that the straps are pretty sturdy, but I’m sure there are better options out there worth looking into, and I haven’t crashed with the kennel to truly test them thankfully. Any suggestions on better straps?
      Thanks!

      What straps do you use then?

    Bro get a chain. All I need is a wrench to take apart your cable lock

    Does the large fit in the back seat of the tundra?

      The intermediate (mine) fit in the backseat of our Hyundai Sonata in a pinch one time, so I bet you can make it work! Worst case, bring tools for disassembly if necessary and your dog isn’t with you.

    how long is an average trip for you guys? do you think a 3 hour trip is excessive for a dog in one of those kennels?

    • @roshjackham
      @roshjackham  Рік тому

      Obviously every dog is different, but my dog, even with all his energy, can even be fine for a 10 hour road trip if we stop every couple hours for breaks, exercise before and after, and we even sometimes find dog parks along the way for a long trip. Bottom line, if your dog can go 3 hours in his kennel at home, then as long as the internal kennel temp is good, a 3 hour road trip should be fine too.
