Don't you think it's more concerning that israel refuses to disclose their nuclear arsenal and have said that they would use nuclear weapons. Furthermore, they have the Sampson option. So I think it's fair to say that Iran appears to be the more level headed and strategic of the two. The US manufacturers 500 Patriot missiles a year. Israel used close to 1/2 of that in 1 day. Ukraine is out in the cold.

Most military innovations are bred in the battlefield. Considering tank to tank warfare has been very limited due to drones getting to them first I see ifv/tanks being totally redesigned to counter it
What's absolutely hysterical is, 🇺🇦 claiming Russia 🇷🇺 has lost almost 500k, yet according to Zelensky, they themselves have only lost 31k since the start of the war 2022. I do believe Zelensky's benefits saying the other 470k we've lost are just that, they are lost, they've gone missing, thus not sure if they're KIA or not. Gotta save that money wherever it can be saved, I guess. No believe for those families of the dead soilders bulldozed into mass graves.

Lol Iran spent around 35 - 55mil on their strike, Israel spent over 1.1 billion which doesn’t account for costs of the US, UK, Jordan, etc. Iran warned the US days before the attack of what they were doing, and did just enough of second rate weapons to break through ally defenses. Iran showed they know what it takes to break Israel air defense (with foreign defense aid) and did so without their newest weapons, they gained good intel on how Israel will use their defenses. Iran attack was a complete success on any level. Intel analyst believe they could do salvos of 10x that for multiple days before breaks. Then you have hezbollah with their simple rockets but around the 150,000 quantity and up to 50,000 militants. Israel is really kicking a Horney nest since it can handle a attritional war or the financial/inventory cost of prolonged air defense.

Turtle shell armour - always thought about that! Great idea that will be developed overtime - purpose built vehicles.
it occurred to me that they could actually disguise it to look as a little house, with windows and roof tiles and all ! that would be really funny.

military experts already state that these turtle tanks are designed to limit damage to the tank and make it harder to destroy the tank. Russia more and more are concentrating on retrieving weapons from the battle field and refurbishing them. they even say that there might be a fire extinguisher system inside these shell. its all about repairs. Basically its Russia attempt to keep losses at a minimum. with their manufacturing ramped up and high return rate of damaged tanks back to the field. they want to keep tank totals high. they might ever put reactive armor on these shells making it even harder to stop them. not only that it could also be used as a decoy. nothing under the shell except a engine and wheels. for what ever reason they are doing it if it works it works.
Military 'experts' have claimed a lot about Russia's, poor ex soviet equipment, lack of munitions/missiles, weak AD etc etc etc over the past two years.
@@simonrb1942 Well yeah but turtle tanks are pretty self explainatory, a second shell of armor to ensure that explosives are detonated away from the tank's main body. In Indonesia or Malaysa (somewhere in that region) some military or police put plywood and even cardboard on the outside of their armored vehicles when fighting against rebels because their anti-armor weapons did a lot of direct damage but not so much indirect damage, so the rocket launcher the rebels were using hit the plywood and detonated leaving the vehicle's actual armor untouched.
Then there's the idea of reinforced concrete over the whole structure.
The pay-off between mobility and protection is an issue like...forever.
I won't be surprised if those BMPs that raiding the town may only operate by 1 driver without commander or gunner to reduce casualty as much as possible.

Ukraine does not have their own intelligent drones, Russia does. You fly over a target and click on it. Then drone locks onto it and attacks.
The Russians are forward thinking. The armoured vehicle for all we know may very well be remote control. They are using vehicle remote control vehicles for fire support and will almost certainly develop this tech. So what did it achieve?? Well at the very least the Russians now know that there are no mines or obstacles where it went. If they now keep those areas under observation they know a safe route for their armoured advance.

The extra shell is used to detonate the charge away from the hull, and to deflect projectiles before their hit the armor. It is not for "AI targeting".

Sorry to say that but stating russians started using FAB's and those made a difference in the last several months is hilarious when they ACTUALLY started using those winged guided bombs more than an year ago. They played crucial role in the Bakhmut operation and it is pretty well documented by various other youtubers! The reason russians can rely more and more on those systems is simply because they can fly much more safely due to the lack of ukrainian AD in big parts of the frontline

That huge flat metal surface is so little connected to the tanks engine that it will not heat up one bit. And thermal imaging sensors cannot see a difference in temperature between this and a shed. And they are simply not designed to lock onto something like this. It would be a false positive.
In reverse these systems were designed to actually prevent locking on to something like this.
Same with daylight+visual tracking. Those sytems have silhouettes of tanks as a preference set, from multiple angles. Again. Doesn't look like a tank and will be ignored as false positive.
And I think the ukrainians realised it, because that is the only reason why they would fire cluster munitions at it, to maybe rip that cage off. Or potentially damage whats underneath.
Some say it has EWAR stuffed under it, thats a hard no. Nor passive or active stuff will work under there. Its basically a farraday cage, nothing goes in or out if the cage itself is not an antenna, there might be some out the back and front but that would be very ineffective.

Far as I know there are double penetrators already that defeat ERA and a second payload arrives shortly after and has the shaped charge with it. But even a normal tandem would not be able to break this with slat/era/armor in that order.
Might look silly, but is substantially effective on paper. And as we see here it works.

Turtle tank is like using canvas as rain overcoat. Shape charges are detonated on thin mild steel saving reactive armour for another day.
It is made so the drone operator doesn't see where he hits. It takes a precise hit to disable the engine, but as it's fully covered by spaces armor, there's a lot more things to take into account.
Wait a while and all tanks will have anti drone protective covers ...its basic common sense.

remember, when ukraine received the HIMARS, american press was sure to point out that they had the ability to launch ATACMS disabled on the launchers. so they could only launch the standard range missiles. i had argued that they may have disabled atacms, while enabling the not-yet-in-service PrSM or PSM, precision strike missile which was set to go into service at the end of last year or some time this year. those have longer range than atacms and some of the "cruise missile" strikes into areas himars couldnt reach, may have not been storm shadow or scalp, but in fact PrSM missiles, while not yet in service, for real world test data. war is the best place to test weapons.
