Awesome!! Great detail in how the siren works.Neat to see this video on youTube after I had the privilege of being shown a live demonstration on the very same location.Well done my man!!
Federal Signal never fails to create some solid products. You must of had the real hook up to get your hands on that, not many collectors are able to acquire 2001s.
I've heard that you own part of Springfield, Illinois Thunderbolt. Is that true? I was told that it was a single phase Thunderbolt off of the Stratton building here in Spingfield. I'm looking for more information on how it was acquired, when it was removed (did the city remove it or was it removed by you or whoever asked about it) and whether any money was exchanged for the siren. I've been attempting to locate what happened to the original 4 Thunderbolts from 1957 that were installed throughout Springfield. Thanks!
You should buy some resistors for that control board to get it up and running Just look for 2 resistors with a orange, orange, orange color coding and solder them in
this just amazes me to see how big one of these sirens actually are also you must have had to pay alot just for one of them the last time i seen on sentry siren they were in the 4,300 $- 3,200$ range
and you bought this off Ebay instead of finding it in a scrapyard somewhere? buying these direct from the manufacturer would run about $15,000-$20,000 brand new
@@TrainsAndSirens1 i wonder why it was no longer needed. i think every town in all 50 states of america no matter how small should have a warning siren. even if it's a town of only 25-30 people. the town where i live (Howard South Dakota) has just one siren and it's a federal signal 2001 SRN-B. we used to have a 3T22 as well but that was taken down. check out my video of the ambience at ua-cam.com/video/z4o1SfF1bS4/v-deo.html
@@TrainsAndSirens1 did he say why it was permanently damaged? i thought that with electrical components being shorted all you would have to do is replace the burnt out diodes, capacitors, rectifiers or anything else and everything would work again
Bro, that's not hard at all. Take the board out, desoldier the bad caps, use Q Tips with Isopropyl Alcohol to clean the crap gently, then soldier in new ones. There's bound to be at least 1 guy in your area who can do that if you're a bit nervous about soldiering.

@Derek Wall: This siren was found from a storage at a plant in AL.
@@TrainsAndSirens1 really, what was it doing there?
@Derek Wall: It was removed because the siren got struck by lightning and siren was no longer needed.

How heavy is that thing
If I could get a siren I would get a SNERB JK I would get a 2001-DC
I saw a RCM panel yesterday on a Tbolt 1000
i found a t bolt right by a middle school
Is it illegal to buy one if you're not an emergency service? You can't buy it for yourself?
@Za Rand: It's not illegal to buy a large siren. It depends where you are at, it also depends on the county, and the neighbors.
TrainsAndSirens1 can you buy them in Tullahoma?
Not illegal to buy, but illegal to set off without permission.
WOW that things huge!
You should next demonstrate a whelen vortex siren
Nice! BTW, you use a JVC GZ-E200 and I use a JVC GZ-E200, I got the camera because of the amazing quality of your videos :)
just replace the shorted components and the board should work again provided the other electronic components aren't fried
I sent the board (a year after this video) to a siren shop in MO and he said "the board is unrepairable due to board itself permanently damaged".
@@TrainsAndSirens1 did he say why it was permanently damaged? i thought that with electrical components being shorted all you would have to do is replace the burnt out diodes, capacitors, rectifiers or anything else and everything would work again

i think the early 1990s i know my sirens

is the tornado sirens ☺☺☺☺☺
there's no Chopper it's an electric siren uses speakers only
You don't know anything about sirens
Kasey it's amazing how stupid some people are
oh really your brainwashed
Um, how do you know?
The 2001 is actually an electromechanical siren, so the sound is generated by a chopper, not speakers.
