If you like British shorthair cats and think of getting one I want to give you some advice: 1. We have a lot of energy until we are 3 years old. That is when we reach maturity 2. We like to follow you around everywhere: in the bathroom, all around the house, we stay with you in the kitchen while you cook(and not because we want your food, but because we like being near you all the time) 3. We are very curious cats. If you want to fix something around your house we will stay there right beside you until you finish 4. We live around 18 years or maybe even 20. So be prepared to get old with us 5. We like to fetch just like dogs. Just throw me a ball and I will run to get it in my mouth and return it back to you 6. We are pretty low maintenance cats, we are happy with what we have: just a clean litter box, food and fresh and clean water 7. We communicate with you a lot. We like to talk to you and give and receive attention
Every single one of these things is the exact opposite of a problem. Also British Shorthairs are some of the cutest cats in the world. I love their rounded faces and cobby bodies. ❤❤❤❤
British Shorthairs are the teddy bears of the cat world, chilled out, happy, friendly and so laid back. Rarely upset or angered unless it's a dog or pet they don't like or a person, they make nice companions and are easy to get along with, asking for no more than your attention, a friendly pet, food and love.
I’ve had my BS muffin for 3 years now since he was 16 weeks old and I’ve never seen him hiss or get angry. He loves to be around but isn’t a lap cat. Loves to play. Will folllow into the bathroom and hide behind the shower curtain and play catch the “mouse behind the curtain” and he literally just loves to be his own person has a huge ego and will meow and yodel so loud so he’s heard when he wants into a room or out to the roof terrace.
Your previous video review of basil was the reason we felt comfortable buying a British Short hair in November. I’m so glad we did. We totally agreed that the money we spent on our Henry is repaid every day in smiles and laughter. Much more than anything else we can buy otherwise. I just want to thank you for your videos. Love the knife reviews as well.
My BS lilac point female with beautiful light blue ye, weight 5.2 kilos, hard to control even with satiety food bought at the vet. So much love to give and receive😺👍🏼😘
I'm a BSH (more specifically a British blue) too, and so is my bro & my mom, but I don't really see humans as servants, just subordinates, because I'm not old enough to explore the world yet.
I can't have a cat right now, but I am just obsessed with British shorthair! I'm glad to hear you are so happy with Basil! Your animals are beautiful and obviously well cared for.
I'm super dumb 1 time I begged my mom to adopt a cat my mom was sure that I will never get more than 80% in exams so she said if u get 80% in exams I will let u adopt a cat she just said it cause she knew I will never get it but this time I'm pretty sure that I will get more than 80%
What a beautiful cat. So calm and laid back as well. Seems like the ideal family pet. They seem to have a definite affinity with children. Really nice breed.
Love these cats. We have 2 Male British shorthairs here in the UK. They both have great personalities. Both are indoor cats and live very happy lives. My last British shorthair lived until he was over 19 years old. In fact, data shows here, indoor cats live nearly twice as long than a outside domestic cat ( due to road deaths and disease). The vet recommends to keep British shorthairs indoors. I also had the outside domestic cats ( 15) over the years ( I lived on a farm), they are great, but the British shorthairs have completely different personalities, they are more dog like and have funny attributes. Ignore the haters, it is your business what pet you buy or have. They haven't got anything better to do than criticise what other people do. The important thing is Basil and lemon make you and you make them happy! ❤👍
I’m getting a British shorthair of my own in 2 days, because I’ve always wanted a cat and my aunt already owns one. He’s about 3 years old and I’ve always been very fond of him. Last Christmas, me and my cousin were playing a board game and the cat sat in the box of the game next to us (and then he walked all over the game). He lies on his back, always sits in a corner, goes limb when laying down and is over all a very affectionate boy. These cats are great and lovable and I recommend them to people who want an affectionate cat who is also kinda lazy
Insidious! You're getting the knife people into cats, and the cat people into knives. A perfect storm of people you don't want to get stuck in a conversation with. I should know, I am one of them!
I just bought a British short hair a week ago with a similar price. We named him Apollo ♥️. I feel he's the center of everything in our life. First thing I see in the morning and before going to bed. I love him 😍😍.
When it came to buying a pure breed I was in the same situation with my fiance, he wanted a hypoallergenic breed and bought a Siamese. We love him so much and we had no luck looking for ones in shelters. We don't regret our decision.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post more and more videos of Basil and Lemon!!! I am absolutely enamored by them, such beautiful kitties!!! You are doing a wonderful job being their human, keep it up!!!!!!
I'm tired of people coming down on responsible breeders for the crimes of irresponsible pet owners that just let their animals roam, unfixed. Good breeders are not the problem.
I tried 3 times to adopt a stray cat but sadly they always ended up being aggressive toward my pomeranian dogs. Pomeranians are pretty fragile and mine really don't like to play rough. In the end i needed to find new homes for these stray cats. I had given up on the idea of having a cat but after a few years i changed my mind and wanted to try again, but this time i'd do my research on pure breeds. After reading all the info i could find I decided to get myself a British shorthair female. I'm sooooo satisfied. The dogs and the cat get along great. They never fight, they are indifferent towards each-other which is perfect. They don't sleep together but they do sleep close to each other sometimes. I also like that neither of them need to be the dominant ones in the household, while the strays always wanted to be the boss of everything. I am aware that not all strays are like this, but i guess i didn't have good luck with these ones.
You are right, you had bad luck with stray. Or you could hve adopted kitten from rescue. We have 2 tabby from where they were 4 weeks old. Most compassionate and loving kittens. Super smart too.
Anne Yap I did take in kittens but as they grew they became more and more aggressive and destructive. Also they would knock things over around the house. My British shorthair listens to everything I say and has never ever knocked over anything. The most perfect cat I have ever had. Another problem I had with strays is that they would meow when left alone in the apartment while I’m at work. My British shorthair doesn’t mind being left alone all day, and she rarely ever makes a noise. And another thing I have to mention is that my cat never lets her claws out, while the strays would leave scratches on my lap and hands from playing rough with me.
I see. Will keep an eye on mine. I have a pair of boys. Only 6 months. They do play rough and if you don't handle them well yes scratches! Though I can't imagine spending so much on pet. But good that you found one you love.
Dont explain yourself He is obviously loved! I have 2 chunky boys they are a big breed. he is so well looked after, thanks for sharing. much love to them 🐈🐈
AlaskanFrontier1 Ya welcome! I am still laughing at ur comment. Bloody hilarious! BTW....this might sound slightly weird to you.... It’s more like a Russian sense of humour. 😳🤣 Hence it is even more funny to me....not only chemistry related comment. I am not a "Cat person" but he looks like Garfield in diguise. And he looks very "fluffy" must be a heavenly feeling to have in your lap when looking at tv in the evening. I thank you for beeing responsible cat owners by having them as proper indoor cats.
Basil looks great! We just lost our BS a couple of days ago... Horri was 16yrs 7 mths and 13 days old when he passed. He was the best damn cat we have ever had. It's funny, but they are dog like. He did endear himself to our friends. Everyone loved him. Our friends have brought around bunches of flowers, chocolates, dinners and cards for us over the last few days. He was a much loved family member. He loved our kids and grew up from a kitten as our sons best friend. He's grown up and married now, our son that is😊. Horri can never be replaced. But if we were to ever get another cat even with all the fur and shedding issues it would definitely be another BS. Highly recommend the British Shorthairs. My wife and I miss him so much...😢
At the end of last yr, i lost my 18.5-yr-old domestic short hair which was picked up off the street. i wandered into a pet shop and saw this cute BSH. I brought her home 2 weeks after 1st setting my eyes on her. I have not looked back since. Best decision I have ever made. Hope she could live as long as my last cat.
I got my first cat for my 7th birthday in August 1973, and I’ve pretty much always had at least one ever since. I like to have two so they can play together, but one of my wee boys, Dougall and Hamish, was run over a couple of years ago, so Dougall has to make do with my dogs Brodie & Arnie for company.
Thanks for your review mate. I'm probably about 50 miles from where Basil's ancestors is from in the middle of England Loved your vid as I;m getting a Brit shorthair myself at the end of the week. Hope my new little mate is as happy as your Basil and a happy good lad 😉😉
A British Shorthair kitten here in the USA cost around $1750. So $1,000 is a great price. You’re cat looks very healthy and BSH’s are always on the bigger side.
I think it is great that you provide more than knife videos and have enough confidence to offer humor, and share what is important to you and your family. Basil will make you famous !
Science has proven petting cats, dogs, birds, etc reduces stress.. Just rescued a British shorthair, been 3 weeks and he's told me he's lost and needs love......Great video ❤️
I have just gotten a male BSH cat but from a rescue and adopted him so whatever people prefer doing, I love the breed Andi have his pal also she's a female exotic short hair mix love them both Your cats are beautiful!!
But has he reclaimed Chair Mountain? Also, this video made me super happy for some reason. Had me giggling at the start and smiling all the way through.
Ignore the haters! Love this. Got into this channel for the knife vids, but I'm a fellow cat lover so I decided to check this out. I didn't know anything about BSH cats, so this was very informative. Thanks for the great cat footage!
Great review and update! I also contemplated getting a rescue but ended up getting British Blue and have not regretted the decision. I've never known any cat to get along with kids so well.
I recommend british shorthair cats. There is soo many lies about them like : they are lazy breed and they can't make such special bond with you, they are dumb not inteligent and they don't need so many attention and they are not elegant. The truth is diffrent. Whenever I come home my british shorthair cats welcome me and sometimes even jump on my shoulder. They are really smart and they know when i am sad or happy. One of my brithish shorthairs is always meowing loud and yowls when i don't give him attention and he needs to waste his energy somwhere. Also, they are really elegant when they cat - walk.
Beware when buying a British shorthair (i have got 2) u have to brush them a lot especially if they don’t clean themselves properly 😂. Also there is cat fur everywhere don’t wear black clothes
I also have 2 british cats. They are great. Previously I've had cats I adopted but their personality was always hit and miss. Some would bite and be aggressive. When I wanted to get another get I decided I want a british cat both due to looks and personality. Their personality is great, very calm and they never bite. In 4 years we have them they never even once bit us. Even when you annoy them they never dare to bite you.
Man, the fur tumbleweeds at my robot-vacuumless house are so copious as to be load-bearing. Hoping we get more Basil & Lemon cameos in your future videos until any additional cat-centric vids strike your fancy.
We just got a BSH kitten their temperaments are great. She totally stands her own with our rambunctious burmese. She has so much spunk we all love her 😺
that brush that you´re using for your cat is soo cool!! mine doesn´t take that much hair from my British cats so even after brushing they still have lots of hair
Does anyone else kind of yearn to hear his reviews of family members? He's got this odd talent of quantifying what makes beings lovable that I think could be amazing if he expanded his purview of review to humans.
I wanted a British Shorthair and was searching for videos of their cuteness when I found your 1st review. Thanks so much for posting it! Definitely going to get one when I get a larger apartment, thanks to your insight! I’m allergic to cats, but I think I’ll be fine if the litter box is in its own room. I do have a special request, Could you make a cute compilation video of Basil, if you have any footage you haven’t included on these two reviews? I can’t have pets in my current apartment and need more British Shorthair cuteness fixes. I’ve watched the 1st review at least a hundred times. THANK YOU!
We have one and they, as a cat are chonky. But they're so lovable. Even though they hate being picked up. Ours is 2 years old and he still refused to meow.
Omg, your British shorthair seems exactly the same as mine. I have 2 we feed them raw food in the morning and canned food at night. They are perfect family cats like you said and absolutely everything you said is exactly the same for us
Basil is adorable. We have had 3 of the same breed and they are lovable teddy bears. We now have an adopted, what we think is a Norwegian Forest cat, who has a similar temperament.
not to bring the mood down but my british shorthair who looked exactly like basil passed away last year. I got him when I was 4 and he passed just before i turned 18 and this video reminded me what beautiful & loyal pets they make. i’m so glad basil is living the best life!
sure, lovely cat. He s sitting alone all day, without human contact, zero confidence, shy and also aggressive. Waking up at 4 AM destroying everything up’ till 8AM. And yes I do have to mention that no one ever harmed or did something wrong to him, since the day one we welcomed him in our family with love and joy, food, toys and treats all round the house. A good, fresh water fountain and also a big and clean litter box. Cats are independent so no one tried to do something stupid to him, always tried to get his approval before petting and etc. Since he was a kitten we trained him to pee in the litter, and got a schedule daily to play with him since we were inside the house due to Covid. After 10 months I literally started to regret that I took him into my house and it’s slowly destroying my mental health.
There's a lot of things that could be happening, most probably leftover energy and some miscommunication on its needs beyond food and toys. Cats, especially adopted ones, need a lot of patience, observation, and care. Jackson Galaxy has a ton of good videos that may help you understand your kitty better and how to better your relationship. Of course, you need to be in a place where you are mentally and emotionally capable of taking care of a cat (or any pet). If you feel like it's too much or that you're not in a place to properly pay attention and take care of your kitty (which is completely valid!), then please make sure to find a good and responsible new home for it.
Always IGNORE THE TROLLS mate! don't ever answer or even acknowledge them and definitely don't show their comments in videos, they want the attention. Basil looks awesome BTW and I'm sure he'd give you a good review, it looks like you've given him a good life
Your Cats are loved and well cared for. I completely agree with all you have said. I adore this breed, always have. Have always adopted older Cats and ones that other people won’t. However I still holdout hope that one day I will get my British Blue. Basil is a big cat, big chest and a good weight. Your other Cat is stunning. No outside is absolutely essential. My Cat is now 18 she was a rescue, a cross tuxedo with Burmese. Ms Lily, she is in great shape for her age, does have diabetes which is mostly under control. She is feed pure protein, air dried no kibble and high protein wet food. I so enjoyed meeting your cats, thank you. 💗🐈⬛🐈🇦🇺🐾 Lily gies outside, a secure backyard only when I am home. My place is not big and you’re right, more theme enough for her. A great life all Pets deserve.

7. We communicate with you a lot. We like to talk to you and give and receive attention
I like them part with watch you because they like watching me play game online and also when i make ikea furniture
I can say that all 7 points apply to our sweet little British Shorthair boy
Every single one of these things is the exact opposite of a problem.

We had a shorthair when i was born up until i was about 9 years old. That damn cat took better care of me than my parents did. Man i miss him

My fiance wanted one so we bought one. Best descison ever. I love that big fuzzy thing and i'm not even a catperson. But damn what he sheds.
Im getting one next one so I'm watching alot of videos of this breed. If you brush the cat often, does it help with shedding?
@@ZephDweri Absolutely. Lovely breed of cat, can’t imagine any better.
@@hitsville9855 Thank u! Mine is ready for deliver in 1 month so im trying to learn everything about them ^^
He’s still a C H O N K in our hearts so cute
Thanks for your review mate. I'm probably about 50 miles from where Basil's ancestors is from in the middle of England
Loved your vid as I;m getting a Brit shorthair myself at the end of the week. Hope my new little mate is as happy as your Basil and a happy good lad 😉😉
Might as well start a 2nd channel, Bricky & Basil Indoor Adventures
I’m glad you made a review because it helped me decide if this cat would be right for me. I finally have my blue boy and I am so please.
Mi Mee you wont regret the best breed.
They are beautiful cats both Basil and Lemon! 😍😍
dude, your cats seem happy, you seem happy and that's what matters. Rock on.😻
just ignore the haters, your cats look great, and expensive cats also need love and a good home 🥰
Honestly, your "cat reviews" are so awesome dude. Some of the best content on UA-cam. Thank you.
A British Shorthair kitten here in the USA cost around $1750. So $1,000 is a great price. You’re cat looks very healthy and BSH’s are always on the bigger side.
2:08 ears spotted. Some buddy walked by 😁
Cat and Knife guy too, right here!
I think it is great that you provide more than knife videos and have enough confidence to offer humor, and share what is important to you and your family. Basil will make you famous !
He's beautiful! Thanks for sharing him with us 😃
He's not fat, he's all fur.
I'm so happy im getting one of these
Science has proven petting cats, dogs, birds, etc reduces stress.. Just rescued a British shorthair, been 3 weeks and he's told me he's lost and needs love......Great video ❤️
A little thick behind the edge, but nonetheless a gem
I have just gotten a male BSH cat but from a rescue and adopted him so whatever people prefer doing, I love the breed Andi have his pal also she's a female exotic short hair mix love them both
Your cats are beautiful!!
Basil is cute and beautiful just the way he needs to be! ❤️
Basil looks so soft and plushy. if he was my cat it be cuddles 24/7.
He looks so soft!
Any domestic cat is its own world's best cat!
Agree with you 100%! We spent that on our rag dolls, worth every penny.
Oh my goodness, I’m getting a British Shorthair, I live in Tasmania, I can’t wait, he was only born this week
I don't mind a cat not being elegant. I do like a good sleek, angular cat but I LOVE cats with more of a rounded, cuddly look to them like this breed.
@@nightmarefanatic1819 but british shorthair cats ARE elegant.
BSHs are such lovely cats. They are naturally cobby and are a larger cat. He looks wonderfully healthy.
He is absolutly perfect and I would love one just like him! 😍
Forget what those haters say ... That kitty is deliciously plump and I'm here for it. So beautiful...
Don’t let those negative comments bother you! And no need to justify your actions as clearly Basil is in a loving home.
Do you have basil still? Can you give us an update on him? :)
I absolutely love this scootie big booty boi!! Lemon is gorgeous too. 💞😍
Basil is adorable, you are lucky to have him! ❤
The name:British _Shorthair_
The cat sheds enough hair to make a wig.
Why are they called,shorthair?
Man, the fur tumbleweeds at my robot-vacuumless house are so copious as to be load-bearing.
Hoping we get more Basil & Lemon cameos in your future videos until any additional cat-centric vids strike your fancy.
We just got a BSH kitten their temperaments are great. She totally stands her own with our rambunctious burmese. She has so much spunk we all love her 😺
Finally a long term update video. Dog review next!
Now my feed is full of British Shorthair videos. Sweet...
hahah basil inside your analytics now
@@CedricAda haha, yeah and easier to explain away compared to all the reviewers wearing penis suit videos
that brush that you´re using for your cat is soo cool!! mine doesn´t take that much hair from my British cats so even after brushing they still have lots of hair
THANK YOU!
My kitten BUNNY looks the spitting image of this one. She’s such a clever loving little thing. I adore her only had her 5 days. I’m in love ❤
I love Basil! He's so cute and fluffy!
Just stumbled on this video at random. Sorry about the mean people in the comments. Your animal friends all seem lovely. Thanks for your perspective!
We have one and they, as a cat are chonky.
But they're so lovable. Even though they hate being picked up. Ours is 2 years old and he still refused to meow.
Came die knives and knife stuff, Stayed for cats.
This is lex and Cinnabon all over again.
Best video of any kind on UA-cam... Superb commentary... This vid has made me want to get a cat
Omg, your British shorthair seems exactly the same as mine. I have 2 we feed them raw food in the morning and canned food at night. They are perfect family cats like you said and absolutely everything you said is exactly the same for us
they are pretty. love that color fur and eyes
So satisfying seeing him getting brushed
Basil is adorable. We have had 3 of the same breed and they are lovable teddy bears. We now have an adopted, what we think is a Norwegian Forest cat, who has a similar temperament.
not to bring the mood down but my british shorthair who looked exactly like basil passed away last year. I got him when I was 4 and he passed just before i turned 18 and this video reminded me what beautiful & loyal pets they make. i’m so glad basil is living the best life!
You have invested in a cat and you have provided him food and love. But, to be honest, he doesn’t give a shit about.
He’s a fluffy boi!!!! My girl is shedding like crazy. I’ve had to order one of these brushes to shed her 😂
sure, lovely cat.
