Dave DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. He is a true Patriot that served our Nation, and he continues to serve the American people by sharing his vast survival knowledge - a vital service in these uncertain times. His videos are all substance and no bullshit, and he is a great teacher that shows you how it's done rather than just telling you. Hooah.

I come back to watch the videos in this series every few weeks. This is the best survival advice you will ever find anywhere. Surviving for 72 hours would be tough as hell, but knowing these skills holds off the panic and allows you to make very good decisions. Thank you Dave, you are the man!

I purchased the reusable space blanket you do your demonstration with from your store a couple of months ago. It is a great piece of gear. I have used it multiple times this summer with the reflective side out and it works extremely well for reflecting heat. Highly recommended for any emergency kit.

Hey man awesome stuff here. In scouts when I was a kid our motto was be prepared. In the army this was reinforced. A little planning will go a long way in any situation. Guys, practice these skills before your life depends on them(training witch teaches you what and how to practice will go a long way in mastering any skill).
Thank you for your service to our country brother.

Dave, your videos are one of the greatest contributions to bushcraft in the entire world.
Your unique understanding of "necessity" and equipment needs is far and away more instructive to those of us who try to be well informed and adequately supplied.
Owing to you, I have purchased traps and other gear. I have ordered your book, "Bushcraft 101" and continue to learn from you. Keep on keeping on brother!

I love the way you demonstrated the setup procedure for your tarp in case of an emergency. That is something the Air Force didn't teach me when I was in service and glad that you took the time to make this video for us who didn't know the meaning of the duct tape on the tarp.

Great video, Dave. You got me thinking about how things in the military are commonly taught, but how few civilians know them. Such as visual signals, be they for rescue or distance communication. I would love to see you do a video covering visual signaling and communication. I know you touch on it briefly occasionally, but your knack for instruction would benefit many people if you did a comprehensive video on this. Many people might "get it" better than by just looking at an illustration.

Excellent videos. I'm sure you have already thought of this. But my question is if a person takes the time to prepare how can they be lost? Other than an injury. What I'm referring to is if a person takes an old cell phone and downloads offline maps. Whether the phone has service or not. It still has GPS capabilities. And if you put a solar powered cell phone charger which is just about the same size of the phone itself into the kit, you can recharge the phone whether you remember to charge it before you left or not. One step further is also having a Find My Car app. And before you leave your car set the location. Since it uses GPS. It would probably work like the map would. Though I have never used it on a phone without service but I have used offline maps and the GPS. You can also use most tablets. As long as it has GPS capabilities some do not. But all old iPhones and Android phones have GPS without any kind of service required. This would be a huge help to anyone lost. I guess you could say it would be dummy proof as long as they don't damage or lose their phone. You could store the phone and the charger in a Ziploc freezer bag. I only mention it because if a person were to take the time to download the maps at least to the area they are in and carry an old phone like this it could possibly save lives. Of course if you're injured that's another story altogether. You might know exactly where you're at and just not be able to walk out. But that all depends on a person's will to survive. The movie The relevant was based on the real life story. I'm a guy who was attacked by a bear and then left for dead. By Will alone fueled by rage. He crawled out of there and went several hundred miles. Of course a lot of people don't have that Drive to live. You have to be hardcore determined. And our society doesn't exactly breed that sort of person as much as it used to

i run a few FB bushcraft groups and decided to open my youtube channel a few moths ago to reach out and share the knowledge, we organised a tactical survival course last weekend and it was amazing, it was held in West Yorkshire UK and hosted by Sierra Survival, as I'm more of a bush crafter this was out of my comfort zone but i thought it should be shared. it would be great to get some support and comments on my channel so i can better what i do. great videos good content and a big thank you for taking the time to share.

You are right Dave, people experience "bush panic" like 2 miles into the trail. I think that was the situation you were creating...sorry for my mistake. Was the first knot you made with the shelter a fig 8 knot? If so, why didn't you just use the diamond gramite on the corner. Do a figure 8 and just tie that end to the tree and stake the opposite end to the ground. Then, I simply stake my left and right gramite to the ground. I just use sticks as my stakes. That's my version on that shelter.

Not sure if poison Oak is worse or not. But poison Ivy is a big problem for most people who are susceptible to it (most people are). It's a pain for many reasons, one is that the only real way I know of to identify it is by it's leaf structure. "3 leaves green that plant is mean" is the Rhyme you learn at an early age. It can come in many forms, but is usually a shade loving shrub. If you touch it, or touch something that has, the Resin (probably the same as in Poison oak) will torture you.
