The girl is Morgan Stapleton, Chris’s wife.
She was the one that encouraged him to stop being in the background and sing the songs he wrote.
I thought he was referring to the chick with the tiara. I assume she’s a miss something.
But Morgan was the woman singing with them. I love that song Chris and Morgan covered You Are My Sunshine.
Also interesting, if I'm not mistaken Chris has five children. She sings backup, even heavily pregnant.

He didn't write it, it is several decades old, but he did a new arrangement and made it new! It's such a good arrangement, it went Diamond!! This is one of my favorite all time performances!
It was written by a duo after a writing session at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. David Allan Coe was the first major performer to record it back in 1981, and then George Jones did it in 1983. It's been recorded plenty of times, but Stapleton's version brought it ROARING back into popularity in 2015.

Drink you away is a JT song, it had just come out. Chris Stapleton became huge with this performance. The woman on stage with them is Chris's wife, she has a beautiful voice too. When they sang "Amanda" at the Grand Ole Opry it was absolutely beautiful. Chris has/had bad stage fright, its one of the reasons his wife sings with him.
these two were destined to stumble across each other. Chris with the just pure country, and then Justin with the gospel band in the background. there's simply never gonna be another crossover collab like this one. the amount of talent on that stage is UNREAL.
Chris is definitely worth a dive down the rabbit hole! He's got that soulful voice that you like!

Actually 3, Chris' wife was on stage and she can sing like a bird.
Watch it again and look at how the band gets into it and KNOWS they are producing something special.
Timberlake is so fucking good that it’s hard to believe he was just a dude in a boy band at one time. He’s one of those rare greats who loves music and explores it without feeling weighted down to one thing. I respect that.

Chris & Justin are incredible here, but the real stars here are the band. They are BEYOND tight, they are perfection, and their absolute joy in performing this is palatable.

You need to hear Chris' version live at Austin City Limits. He sings with his wife, Morgane and you can really hear their own chemistry. Totally different vibe than this.
You really need to go with "Cold," from the 2021 CMAs for the next one. Always do live for Chris (except "Fire Away," the video is a little mini-movie supporting mental health awareness.)

Chris Stapleton is a very well known songwriter in Nashville and some pop circles, ironically, it was this cover of Tennessee Whiskey that propelled his solo career to stardom. He was largelly part of bands before he found success as a solo act in Country music. He was the driving force behind the rock/jam band, The Jompson Brothers and recorded 3 albums as the lead singer of the bluegrass group The SteelDrivers.
For future reactions I highly recommend Ghosts of Mississippi and Rainbows Never Die by the SteelDrivers and Fire Away and Broken Halos by Chris Stapleton himself.

You recognized Chris's talent when you 1st heard him & said you wanted to hear more.... but it's months later....and 10 Grammys, 11 ACM Awards, 15 CMA Awards & he was named ACM's Artist-Songwriter of the Decade but you still haven't done more Chris.
The song that got me hooked on Chris was “Nobody to blame but me “. I heard it on the radio and I thought “I have to listen to more of this guy”. I haven’t been disappointed.
I don't know if you've done this, or if it's been suggested already, but "Sometimes I Cry" by Chris Stapleton, live at the Bing Lounge, is phenomenal! It's just him, his guitar, and that voice... ooooh. So good!

Chris' inspiration for his arangement is the song "I'd Rather Go Blind", by blues legend Etta James. The woman in stage is Chris' wife and mother of their five children. I'd recomment you check out his performance of this song he did at Austin City Limits with just the two of them and their three piece band. He did a four song set there. Also, "Cold" from the CMA awards will make you cry. "Watch You Burn" about the Vegas shooting. Chris and JT recorded a song together called "Say Something" that's really good. He's written like 200 songs for himself and other artists. It's a deep rabbit hole.

I don’t even like country music but the first time I heard this I thought it was one of the best live performances I’d seen. Those two together are great.
A lot of people think they don’t like country. But they just listen to the wrong country. It’s like the difference between mass produced Pop and other pop/singer songwriter artists . Some of it just has less soul and heart. But a lot of old style country is beautiful music , that isn’t all about trucks, beer and girls .

I'm a simple man. I see Chris Stapelton and I come running.
CMA Awards put 2 genres together for the show. This year it was pop/ country. They sing 1 song of each other's.
So, the story behind this performance is that Chris Stapleton was relatively unknown at the time of this show in 2015. He obviously was known in the music scene, but he's one of the first artists to win "New Artist of the Year" without significant play on corporate radio. His exposure came mostly from Sirius XM. So, they were going to cut his performance to save air time.
Chris had met JT a year or so before this and they had become friends. Chris went to the CMA committee and said, "If I can get Justin Timberlake to perform with me, can I have my slot?" To which they replied, "If you get JT to perform at the CMAs, we'll give you two slots," obviously thinking that there's no way it would happen. JT was happy to perform with his friend and the rest is history.
Imagine being Florida Georgia Line warming up backstage, as they were the next group to perform, and hearing this... I think I'd have refused to play.

"Drink You Away" is Justin's song. He permormed on the 80's talent show "Star Search" at 12 years old, using the name Justin Randall. He was dressed in jeans, cowboy boots/hat and a giant belt buckle lol. He was going down the country road at the time. You can find the footage on youtube. It's priceless!
