Great to see this return. Also, did you notice that the only Shia Labouf Trilogy autobots to not have a studio series are the ones that are controversial (Skids and Mudflap for being considered racist stereotypes and Que for his nightmarish head).
Ironically, Drift (despite being from the Wahlberg double feature) was considered controversial with supposed Japanese stereotypes and he got two studio series figures!
@@PrimeVsPrime same the twins are ready important if you want devastator to eat them and hopefully some third party company makes them like devil savior didbbut transformable

I saw a theory once that the “fire” effects on the original Fallen were actually meant to be solar panels, which would make sense since the character was obsessed with harvesting energy from the sun.
With galvatron, the SS figure is the BEST mainline version of that design well ever see, a silver sharpie does wonders on him and really makes him stand out as long as you have a steady hand, it has minor flaws but given that the whole truck basically hides away inside the figure and it still looks THAT good, is honestly insane engineering skills, the feet in the back of the truck is the only thing that really kills me but who displays anything in vehicle mode anyway
Great comparisons. Thanks for doing this. I'd have to go with HA Soundwave, Voyager Galvatron & SS Fallen. I have all 3 original figures + the deluxe & legends SW. Of course I'd have to give the true vote to the 3P NewAge Mista, and UT Nero as those sit in my MPM collection. I think the SS Fallen will round out my ROTF shelf even tho I've loved the HFTD for so many years. Cheers 🍻
I really like this concept of showing us the new figure along with the old ones because I always listen to the review like "Oh this is better/worse than the old release" but I don't know how the old ones look 😅
Tbh for The Fallen, u probably could get 3 of them and put them into the “Star harvester” modes and set them together in a triangle like the pyramid in the movie to give it that that movie harvester look🤔
Galvatron (this version of Galvatron) should have a R.E.D toy. Packaged along with the truck. The truck mode could be separate but packaged with the robot mode. And have the truck mode diecast.
Wish you could post pictures on UA-cam. I have the 2014 Galvatron, but I gave him a blackwash, painted a red glow around his eyes, and added a burning fire paint app that I taped inside the cavity in his chest.
While The Fallen sadly never transformed into his jet mode in the movie, and thus I can't determine which toy has the better jet mode, I do think that the newer versioncof the toy, the Studio version, where The Fallen's splitted scepter is connected to the jet mode, did an amazing job when it comes to the robot mode 🙂.
He did actually turn into his jet mode a single time in the film, but it’s for like a single frame. When Optimus is revived and the Fallen attacks him, look very closely in the background as he approaches, you’ll barely make it out
Just got the movie the best Soundwave a few days ago, man that thing is impressive looking. I honestly couldn’t care less about the goofy legs, in person it’s not as bad and I kind of like the aesthetic tbh. I’d recommend picking one up 100%
@4:47 amazing impression 🤣🤣🤣love it! The headlights for the new SS one look yellow - has this changed colour or was it like that? The robot mode for HA has excellent proportions and head sculpt is very well done. Although it doesn't balance too well on its skinny legs it still looks the part, especially the vehicle mode - the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG looks so slick especially with that paintjob, opening doors and better headlights. @7:32 - I love that Galvatron figure. For me, the power chargers is my def fave. The Argosy truck came out so well. @8:06 IKEA flat packed 😂😂😂- HILARIOUS! The new Fallen is easy to declare as the superior toy. Another awesome comparison review!
The feet on the back of Galvatron was left there for storage for the weapon and personally I would much prefer the feet tucked in more than storage for weapons
My theory is that ss galvatron's legs are actually a pre-mold/ shared design for a knight Optimus prime, which is why gavatron's feet were sticking out so much-- the bed was probably designed for the smaller feet of knight Optimus.
Not to mention at the time when human alliance first came out today we're sold as voyager figures which really shows the times because if they were to bring them back they would no doubt go for at least a leader class price if not even more
I agree with you for the most part on all of them, but I do have some personal opinions. I think the SS DOTM soundwave is the best ever we got, surpassing the HA version because of its ugly legs and confusing face. Galvatron is won by the SS line but it has a few problems(legs engineering on truck, not bulky enough, puney weapon). The Fallen I completely agree with you. Great video, I always love these vids and hopefully you can make this a by-monthly series not a yearly one
Getting back into SS/movie after a very long absence definitely considering this one and finally updating the lackluster ROTF voyager. I like how this one is quite a bit taller, has the spear weapon, and the additional articulation. The face removal gimmick is also fun to see though beneath he looks very bird like. Actually though this was the first release to have the removable face as I only had the original and never saw the HFTD variation. jet mode succeeds a lot better than the original and to bothered by him not having the landing skids though it was cool to see on the original.
When u do your 2022 end of year Studio Series ranking video can u include the Takara Tomy Premium Finish Studio Series figures such as 2007 Megatron, Bayverse Optimus prime, 07 Ratchet, Bumblebee movie Optimus Prime and Bumblebee movie Volkswagen Bumblebee etc and will u do a War for Cybertron trilogy (Siege, Earthrise and Kingdom)ranking video in the future
my problem with HFTD The Fallen was the brittleness of some of the remolded parts. In matter of days since the purchase, one of the pegs of the mask broke off, and over the years the staff bended, one of the hands broke off at the joint of the fingers, and one of the shoulder pegs broke as well. Maybe it was my copy, but it was really sad. New SS is definitely better, and I can live with sacrificing the waist joint to have more articulated "torso arms/tendrils". Tha part is really the highlight of new figure.
Ever since I love the soundwave studio series I did actually got the upgrade kit on eBay having the accurate chest piece on gap fillers and 2 of his guns cause hasbro miss the opportunity mostly cause of budget and the license to the mercades
Problems: SS Soundwave: Arms placed weirdly back Back is a LITTLE intrusive. HA Soundwave: Goofy legs Weird arms Head sculpt is heavily inaccurate and very weird Space between the chest and the legs is so weird Complete lack of a stomach. Conclusion: SS Soundwave obliterates Human Alliance
Original DOTM Soundwave should`ve been almost like a re-issue/apology to collectors missing out on not getting him but i`m still all right with the studio series version just wishing that he came with more than 1 accessory or maybe in the movie the best line......if they do something like that again i want that to make a comeback since there re-issuing g1 and beast wars figures the power attack galvatron is what the studio series figure should`ve been in the 1st place along with some newly molded hands or peg holes to hold the gun now for the fallen i still want a dna design kit to make replacement arms and legs, a staff that doesn`t look so dumb, articulated hands and a matrix of leadership
My issue with the Studio Series Soundwave is the headlights, they could've blackened them as opposed to making them look yellow, like on real life cars, how certain headlights look like they glossed over, which looks horrendous, imo. Wish they would've fixed that before it's release...
well, as for me, both the old and new figures are very cool, the old ones were cool for their times, and the new ones are better now and would have been cool then
I just got the fallen. I was saying to myself I would not transform it after I tried doing it for the first time yesterday, then said I would not transform him. But it’s not as bad as I thought
i enjoy this series, especially once you started comparing all/their best past releases rather than just the first. i used to love all the old videos from the likes of optibotimus, baltmatrix and more but seeing these old figures in good quality video and lighting really is refreshing. im the kind of guy to go for the older releases of stuff (be it for the nostalgia, lower price, larger scale or just better quality materials) so vids like these are still relevant to someone like me who from time to time picks up an old figure.
I think DOTM Soundwave has the better headlights, I never really had an issue with the original Galvatron figure, the SS Fallen looks alot more imposing.
Can you do a video on the studio series the different classes and the different scales such as voyager and leader class and just the regular studio series figures as I'm just starting to collect and unsure what is a voyager and what is class and what the difference between them as not sure
I actually just this weekend found the original the fallen figure and in good condition, I could've passed since I has the ss version. But I still bought it anyways.
Galvatron looks far to skinny but to be fair I think that’s just due to the fact the age of extinction designs for the most part just don’t work for transformers. Also my kid self searched the earth for that dark of the moon mech tech soundwave, never got it. Speaking of never got I really hope we finally get a bumblebee movie megaton or a nicely scaled war for cybertron megaton from the high moon games
Hey PrimeVsPrime, do you think you can possibly review Iron Warrior IW-02 Strife 07 Brawl sometime? I’m comparing to get either that Iron Warrior or the BMB Oversized Brawl🙏
I very much agree that SS Galvatron is pretty skinny. Like, he looks like he went on a diet. And I love the SS The Fallen's alt mode. Though I would like the old one's cockpit for the new figure.
One of the feet on my Fallen figures is loose as hell, and the head broke off at some point in storage (I was able to glue it back on). I've avoided getting Studio Series figures of characters I already own, but I'm definitely going to be getting the Studio Series Fallen, because I feel it does the character better. There doesn't seem to be any significant difference between the original Galvateon and the new Studio one, so I'm not looking to get him. man i had original Fallen in 2010 and i lost it, still think about him to this day
The old HFTD Fallen could be used as a Shattered Glass Fallen, as that version was covered in ice as opposed to the main one's fire.
