Despite my bias for NYC bands (Heartbreakers, TV, etc), I have to admit The Damned probably are the best of the lot. Still going strong 30(!) years later. Amazing!!

Has anyone else noticed that Tony Hadley ripped Vanian off 100%. He says he likes the Clash and the Pistols but never mentions the Damned - he's probably shitting himself he's found out - Spandau's song 'Gold' is pure Damned.

I keep thinking I've seen everything and then something emerges that's been online for 14 years - and I'm so glad that there's more! This is wonderful, shame Dave's mic wasn't louder as he sounded great, I'm assuming it was around Halloween as Captain's in his goth outfit.
There really can't be any argument. The Damned are the best punk band thus far. Love 'em!

Sorry for the belated response . . . I didn't mean to suggest that The Damned are a NYC band (obviously). That's why I said "despite" my bias for NYC bands, the Damned are the best of the lot . . . that is, even though I USUALLY prefer NYC bands, my favorite ("punk" band) happens to be a NON-NYC band - the Damned. I hope this clears up any confusion.

@UTFRG Thanks for setting me straight, UTFRG. I had no idea the band had employed goth styles for a period, and I was totally unaware of how to spell the plural possessive pronoun "there". Phew! Next thing you know, you might leave instructions on syntax and run-on sentences. I learn new things every day.

@GardnerGoldsmith You realise only half of there stuff is punk other half is goth pop and there new stuff isnt very good and they are working for FOX ROX now that is really gay they probably sold out but i guess its fine considering how old they are
