In the late 90s I was coming up the estuary in my twin engine boat and lost one engine, as I only had a center rudder it was very difficult to steer one but OK the steer on opposite way. As I had to cross the main shipping lane to get into the Medway, I called up the Coast Guard to let them know a status. They called out the Southend Council launch to escort me over, the launch wasn't needed but we did have a good chat on the way over. once on my mooring up passed Rochester I phoned and thank them again. Better safe that sorry.
