I wondered what went into doing this. After watching, it's not hard to do but I would definately keep buying new alternators due to the amount of time it takes. And, I don't have a press, good video!
Use heat on the aluminum housing, and support the backside of the bearing housing my dude. Its very easy to deform or even crack the alternator case pounding it the bearing out like that.
This is such a great video. Thank you very much for your effort to show how to replace it. I have a question about the replacement. Can you tell my what are the bearing size and any website address i can get the bearing?
…. It seems to be a lady working on it, making the job even more admirable. Not sure though. The person was using the old bearing to drive in the new one. So didn’t need to worry about the old one getting ruined. I would put a thick piece of medal over it though, to push directly against the outer race on the new bearing’s outer race. Great video, very inspiring! Just need to make sure to use quality bearing, not all bearings are made equally well.
ordered a bearing puller i couldn't get the inner bearing off by simply prying it buying every tool imaginable so i dont get stuck when i rebuild the next one
Good video but when you put a socket on to hit the bearing out without any support under it that bearing or housing will no longer be true. Gauge it and I bet it’s out of spec.
For my car, a rebuild kit with bearings, brushes and a new back cap is about $40 plus an afternoon’s work. New alternator is about $150-$200 plus core charge (and shipping both ways). You decide whats best for you
Hummmph...Nobody ever shows using the old bearing to push the new one back in....Inspiring!!!...👏👏👏🥂🥂👍👍👍💰💰💰

Well done! Thank you very much for your time and know how to make this video!😎👍

Thanks for the tip

Perfect thanks
I'm not sure if this alternator would work because at 10:04 he is using the inner race to drive in the outer race which causes damage to the bearing
It will work. Would be better if he placed a metal piece to spread the pressure.

How to know a Pulley was good or bad ??can u explain it plz
The noise
Where can I buy the bearings and what part numbers?
Ebay
Why not replace the pulley while you're rebuilding. Thanks for the video, I'm learning!
If the pulley is good why replace.
Because they cost the same as a whole alternator lol.
I wonder if I can do this without a press.
Good
I hope my Trabant 601 alternator is easier. I don't have a press
Greu fără presă

I’d just purchase a new alternator..
