- *Apologies for poor sound - it was recorded for an interview in a book originally, over a phone*
Tony discusses his early musical roots, his development with the band On The Air, and subsequent joining of an embryonic Big Country, one of the most popular bands in the 1980s. He describes the issues the band faces which eventually led to the suicide of lead singer Stuart Adamson, and a dissolution of the band before it later emerged with a revised line up.
Whata band they were rest eternally Stuart🙏
Their sounding good again with the new singer should check them out would be good if Tony joined again.
@@heman691 i didnt know they reunited good for them hope they come to NY ill certainly see them
Tony Butler has a very underrated bass sound. It's very powerful and clanky (I mean that in a good way), almost reminiscent of punk bass but in a more new wave context. It's thanks to him and Mark Brzezcki that Big Country grooved, the rest of the band added that folk element.
My dad use to play big country to me ..and he said they was great live.. and he saw loads of great bands... I played with a drummer who stood in for them once.. a guy called Brian...who lived near stewart .. Nice guy ... Great band .Great sound...Great fun
Great interview. Thanks for sharing
This guy's great, great tone too !
What year was this interview? Is it recent?
Really interesting interview some what spoilt by the audio quality of an interview done over the phone
yeah absolutely - I am very sorry - we tried out best to clean it up which made some of it quite good and some quite bad. We did try our best.
Tony B the G.O.A.T.
Is this a joke ? You can’t hear anything ?
This is extremely difficult to listen to.
Hi, thanks for your comment! Unfortunately, this is why we have the apology on screen throughout the full video - this interview was taken as part of a book series and, at the time, we had no intention of releasing it as audio. Thanks for watching :)
