Even as a freighter aircraft, just the fact that the crew managed to land in one piece with the plane basically paralyzed in midair is incredible. Huge respects to the pilots!

Shut up dude. It's great there's new people, they can easily go watch older episodes. This channel doesn't need to reupload the same content over and over and over and over
They got close once before, Sioux City disaster. Half survived. Flew it with the throttles but lost control just before touchdown. They show a few clips in this, the crash was filmed.
That's gotta be the worst day for the pilots getting shot by terrorists, flying the plane using engines, landing using engines, and then finding out you're in a minefield
@@josephamendolea3431 It was skill and quick thinking that eventually saved them.. And there is nothing lucky about being the first commercial jet to be shot by a rocket..
First civilian plane hit by a missile, and landed... sorta... Everyone survived, so technically a good landing even... Impressive display of intelligence and skilled airmanship by the pilots...
As a Belgian, I can't help but be proud of these brave men and their exceptional feat of flying in such adverse conditions! Happy they made it! I will add that any journalist, basically unarmad civilians, would have done the same. If they had spoken up, or tried to leave, stop those terrorists in any way, I fear they would not have lived to tell the tale. In such a situation they too wanted nothing else but to walk away alive. To be blamed for that...Poor people. That's unjust. Nobody should be blamed for trying to stay alive.

Same. That said I miss the original Canadian narrator. He had such a flat, no-nonsense tone. Also, while I'm complaining, the CGI was kind of weak in this one.
What happened to the Pilots? Did they receive honours and decorations ? Substancial rewards ? Did they participate in programmes, teaching pilots and Authorities how to overcome similar situations ? Their Survival was not due to chance -- their skills, professionalism, calm cooperation and discipline made the difference.
I was in London when the invasion of Baghdad. The people of Iraq were celebrating. I told the owner of the hotel. They will burn the US flag in two weeks. They did!
That journalist was an idiot. She kept thinking the terrorists were bluffing, which doesn't make any sense. They're not going to bluff about this kind of thing, especially not when they've got an audience. She provided them with that audience, and imho became an unwitting sympathizer. And she didn't seem to give a crap about the lives that would be lost if the plane had crashed, so long as she got her story. She deserved that "storm of criticism" as the video calls it.

Damn lucky...both on the landing and that they didn't contact any ordinance prior to the warning from the fire brigade 😲 Also bureaucratic stupidity strikes again...like "hey you want this potentially life-saving tech?" FAA: "Nah we're good...we'll just continue to stock fresh underwear for the people to change into after making a landing like that"
Thay were lucky that this area off the runway not having any construction block upfront so no crash to the nearby fence or rock mountain. They were taking the second lucky from not stopping at bomb mine area just a few step away from the plane stop otherwise their lucky ended disaster
This one is 100% on the journalists. Not thinking of consequences of sticking their noses where they didn't belong. Irresponsible fools. Anything for a headline. 😡😡
Definitely. Like how ignorant does one have to be to hang out with a terrorist group and think they’re just being silly when they say they’re gonna shoot a missile at a plane? And then have the audacity to be shocked 🙄🤭😖
While I know this "journalist" couldn't do anything to stop it, she could've used her head and NOT been involved to begin with, she effectively became an unwilling sympathizer and shield for them. This is why I'm a firm believer that Journalists do not deserve any protections in a war zone, you are the one that takes the risks when you are on the side of the enemy (that doesn't mean you support them, although we do know that certain "news" organization did, but the fact remains that you were with them) plus she was VERY gullible for thinking that the terrorists wouldn't do anything, which is why I feel she deserves criticism for her stupidity. This incident is one of the reasons why a lot of civilian cargo planes now have anti-missile systems on them, while hardly needed in civilized nations; they are needed when they have to fly out of a warzone. I am, however, glad that the pilots survived though it does annoy me that - years after this incident - we only found out six years ago that the reason there wasn't a patrol in that area was because it was called off due to a weak willed officer (who was later court marshalled)

interesting statement from the journalist that she didn't know she was being set up and the terrorist were going to use the rocket......seems as though she could have sent a message somewhere about her concerns before the plane was actually hit. I'm sure this made a good story for her news channel.
You think you’d get an interview with terrorists and they allow you to bring a cellphone that you can make calls and send messages? Yeah that’s not gonna happen. The most you’re allowed to bring is a camera and a tape recorder. For example the only on ground footage was taken and handed over by the terrorists themselves meaning they had minimal technology with them. She couldn’t do anything but to watch. Even if she sent a message it would have been worse because the missile is still a heat seeker meaning of the plane changed movements to return back to the airport the missile would have got it over the city and as you know a plane flying at low altitude is far more dangerous than a plane really high up. It would’ve crashed in the city or airport likely killing far more people than just the pilots on board/
Simply put: the hydraulic fluid lines run through that wing. With a hole blown in it the fluid leaks away fast. Without the fluid, there's no pressure on the hydraulic lines and so they will not work. The place where the airplane was hit was very unfortunate in that matter.
if you do a ducomentry about Iraq ..next time bring actors that speaks Iraqi not from Egypt and speaks Egyptian 😅😅😅..thats a joke . your documentary video its like an Italian espagett dinner without meatballs 😂😂😂
How do the loved ones of those pax who died feel about those awards. Yes, from an aeronautical perspective the crew accomplished the unimaginable. Most impressive aviation story, more than the Hudson
