I actually agree with you about fable. Getting rid of fable just kills Rakdos midrange completely. Getting rid of Sorin still makes the Vampires version playable, but it slows it down so other decks have a chance.
@Squre To be fair, Fable is kinda the best Red Midrange card ever so I can understand why people want it gone. I think if you take Fable, you basically have to gut Pioneer to a lot less power and I'm not sure WoTC is ready for that big of an overhaul. Either way, I still believe midrange being tier 1 isn't that bad of a format especially when it is Rakdos. Imagine if we had Lotus field or Amalia as the best...oh wait...All jokes aside, this needs to hurry up cause I want to get to work on the format as it is dead until then.
Agreed with the bannings. IMO Pioneer should get powered down. I think Nykthos could go too. I dislike land ramp and fast mana in general though. Dorks are ok because they die. Cheating stuff into play qualifies here as fast mana. Cheating stuff into play with red is generally ok but in black? These are all lessons they have refused to learn since alpha. The thing with Phoenix is that it is being cheated into play but that it is expensive to do so. It still qualifies as fast mana though.
@karlnord1429 Nykthos is another card I was thinking about, but WoTC ended Karn before Nykthos, signaling they want that to stay. Given how much different decks are popping up in challenges outside of the top 3 decks, it is possible they are conservative in their approach. There are so many options, yet this is one BR announcement. Most have no idea what could happen.
If this happens this format is gonna be so shit. Nykthos, lotus, 5c greedpiles and the aggro decks. Na thx Would rather unban than ban the 3 decks that are actually fun and fun to play against eachother
@lufiay9269 The main issue with this format is the power is pretty centered at the top and not much has been printed to change that outside of the stuff I mentioned. The scope of the Vid wasnt to say this is what I wanted, but that this is the most likely given how WoTC has banned in the recent past.
@@JohnRamosMTG sry, didnt mean to front u. Im just tired of the ban bandwagon. I agree the meta is very figured out and consolidated down to 3-7 decks I would argue pioneer has always been like thst. Same archetypes, rewarding deck mastery abd matchup knowledge. Standard is rotating and a brewers format. I enjoy cooking something up in standard but I really love phoenix vs vamps, or any other top meatchup. The games are deep and interesting. I hope they wait and rather unban stuff or print new stuff.
@lufiay9269 Per the unbans, I don't see much that wouldn't just make the format Warp around something. Whenever I play Explorer/Pioneer I am always playing Phoenix, my favorite; I love casting Ancestral Recall. I only put forth the vid because WoTC said it is for Pioneer and possibly Modern. I also am not a big Banhammer Banwagon enthusiast. I prefer formats figure it out first especially after new sets. I personally love the Phoenix mirror. As for the format, I miss iteration lol. I think there are some promising new Archetypes coming. Kinda excited to try them
@@JohnRamosMTG i think just looking at mtgo winners metagame is also very misleading. Paper events paint quite a different picture. Mtgo meta is very inbred and the top 3 decks are overrepresented because the challenge grinders flock to these options. The top 3 decks are also just very appealing so its natural that they have a high metashare. Result wise I think: Lotus, UW, Mono Green, Atarka Gruul, recently even Greasefang, Ur ensoul, 5C-Piles and a few others can all take down a bigger event.
And this leads me to believe, that maybe the format is actually quite healthy and offers enough diversity but is a bit stale. However I think a very slowly changing and consolidated meta is what’s great about pioneer. Compared to modern where there is a forced rotation with MH and standards wild west. If u dislike „stale“ metas I would argue theres plenty of formats to cherish your inner brewer
