The story of David and Bathsheba very closely resembles the story of Mohammed and Zainab
It is often overlooked that Mohammed sent Zaid ibn Haritha to a campaign which was futile (Mu'tah) in which the muslim contingent was outnumbered 3,000 to 200,000 Zaid died holding up the standard (a suicidal act). Effectively it raises suspicion that sending him on this campaign and the most likely outcome was deliberate.
But where these two events diverge is that David was rebuked & punished.
For Mohammed on the other hand a convenient ayat was revealed about it being permissible to wed adopted sons wives. Surely it didnt need a practical example to demonstrate this ? And if such an example was given about being permitted to marry such women. Why not also set an example reducing the number of wives to four at any one time after an ayat was revealed limiting wives.
You also have to question why every ayat is revealed post event and not prior.
Apologists say that the story of David is slanderous. Again this is empty rhetoric.
Because the wrongs of David were criticised. It is rather a honest account, not concealing the truth and furthermore if it were slander why is David still revered as a great man. The purpose of slander is to discredit, clearly these apologists do not understand this.
But most scarily is the fact Mohammed's wrongs are always justified and lauded as an example from the best of all creation.
Prophets (and those claiming to be so) and patriachs were human and did err, but they often redeemed themselves.
But if you were to list all the known wrongs, sins and errors of them all, whose list do you think would be longest ?

That's how the true God responds. He gives boldness when people lack it.

It can't get better than this! I am studying Mormonism to witness to my dear neighbors who are past their 80ties and I thought they were devout Christians. Nobody asked Bathsheba what she thought of the whole thing. David was the king and he had the power. Bathsheba was probably scared of him. Maybe she had loved her husband and didn't want him killed. It's a horrible story from a woman' s point of view
No need to really maybe. It was horrible. But I'd imagine many political leaders took advantage of women at the time. Even up to 2024 unfortunately. Not to excuse or condone David of course. But David indeed apologised and indeed Bathsheba became an ancestor of Jesus. For Muslims they just eliminate whatever. Lol. Too bad they can't eliminate the Maryam (Mary Vs Miriam) issue. Lol.
