Fantastic work! I've fantasized about building a model of this monster ever since i saw the film back in the 80's. Glad you're going to put Manny on the roof of the Loco!
@@midwestmodelrailroadworkshop I'm in the UK, and all the trains look like cute toys (for the most part). Your American trains are often brutal looking beasts. Love them 😎
@jeffreybarton1297 i did do another video on these showing them completed! It's shortly after I made this one. Had alot of interest so I showed the finished models.
Still one of the best train movies. Love the lead locomotive damage, very cool effect. Which leads me to a question. Have you ever tried a damaged freight car ? I have been trying to come up with a way to model a damaged freight car. Heavy crushed in damage on say a grain covered hopper (without melting plastic).
@ModelingSteelinHO Aluminum foil works great for creating that crushed metal look. What's nice is you can paint it then put scratches into it and have that metal look underneath!
@ZombieSlayer-dj3wb yeah those units also didn't have the AAR-B Alco trucks either because those units they first showed were completely different from the units used throughout the majority of the film.
@@midwestmodelrailroadworkshop he told us a story about him and a couple of guys were walking through the railyard and came out from between a couple of boxcars and seeing the GP40 I believe it was that was they made up to look like it was all wrecked and they looked at each other like what the fuck is that?
Wow !! why nobody else thought to do these Stars movie locomotives before ? thanks to have done bro ! very well made...so long time that I haven't seen this "rage railroads" movie ! take care Bro : )
@bilplaymo6121 Actually there are a handful of people out there that have built this set! There's at least 5 other sets that I know of but definitely not many out there! Thank you!
Ahhh! BUT are the brake blocks burned off!? 😛 Great looking models, well done, I love it. EDIT: I was just looking through some shots of the movie - perhaps one set of couplers can have spots of red... you know why 😜
@user-xw1mq5de4h I used white pastel sticks and grown them into powder then mixed it with water to create a thin paste then painted it in the areas where I wanted snow. Then sprayed matte finish over everything. Some spots have a few coats to get the snow thick enough.
Thought you should know this as all looks good except the 2 Rear GP7 units are the wrong type. in movie the 2 GP7 units were in Fact GP7u short hood nose units. Real Life units were numbered #1803 (retired in 1982 and Scraped) and #1804 (was sold in 1986 only in service 4 more years until Scraped in Klamath Falls Oregon) go back rewatch the movie you'll notice the Front Nose hood sits higher than the rear hood Not Normal on a GP7 unit because the Front nose hoods on both units were built using plywood to make them look like they were standard High Hoods but weren't. How I know this is because I had family help work on the film and have seen them at the time when they were completed in person. You'll notice how both units don't have a gap from the hood to the cab roof as they are flat across as they have on the rear side long hood. The second thing you'll notice is when Jon Voight, Eric Roberts are in cab and Eric Roberts is standing next to the front wall how there's a lip that sticks out from where the 2 inner front windows would be that's Not normal to any other High Hood units as the Bathroom door would've been there Not a blank wall. All facts that you can go see for yourself.

In the yard shot of the gp7s when manny first sees it , the 4th unit does have a horn but its closer to the winterrasionhatch

@Motherslug-q7l Yes I know the rear units are far from correct but it was the best I could do back in the early 2000s when I built them.
