On Day 3 of our adventures in New Zealand, we embarked on a boat ride into the WAITOMO GLOWWORM CAVES. Even though this was my second time there, I was still in awe of its beauty.
The first part of the one-hour tour took us through the upper level, where we explored the stunning cave formations. Then we headed to the lower level, where we stood in the Cathedral, the tallest chamber in the cave, and lastly entered the Glowworm Grotto, where we glided silently underneath thousands of tiny glowworms that illuminated the cave ceiling. It seriously looked like clusters of stars lighting up the night sky.
This is definitely a must-do if you’re in New Zealand!
The use of cell phones and cameras were strictly prohibited during the entire tour, so I wasn’t able to capture any footage of the glowworms. In fact, talking or making any noise during the boat ride was also not allowed because the glowworms do not like to be disturbed. Oh wow seagulls everywhere! Can't believe we didn't get to explore New Zealand beyond Auckland. Never tried passion fruit before. Your daughter is so excited to be there too! Food is looking good!
The last time we were in NZ, we only explored the north island. So this time we made to sure to have enough time to explore the north and south. Even so, we still didn’t feel like we experienced enough! We will need to make another return trip in the future. 🥰

The path getting to the cave was so nice with all the greenery. The cave must have been so incredible. Definitely a bucket list adventure 😍The Israeli couscous salad looked amazing!

So much great food again, the breakfast, the cakes😋 we have such a love/hate with seagulls in England (and Europe in general) they’re so funny and cheeky but so super noisy especially if you live by the sea😆 your apartment looks lovely and spacious, love a washer/dryer in accommodation (we need it constantly!) the glow worm cave sounds fun, shame you can’t film but it makes sense that cameras and lights aren’t allowed inside. Your dinner and desserts after looked great too! Your vlogs always make us hungry 😆
The seagulls in the US are annoying too! But they certainly aren’t as loud as the ones in New Zealand. 😂 A washer/dryer is such a life saver!

Honestly I could have just sat by the water at Cook's Landing and relaxed all day. That view... Oooh I was super excited to see those glowworms..they sound beautiful. The food at that restaurant looked ah-amazing!!!

That breakfast looked so very good, yummy. The Crows nest looked really nice, perfect for a family. The caves look awesome, shame you couldn't film in them, but you did manage to give us some great info about them. Huhu cafe looked great, with some really good looking food. Your second accommodation looks really nice and big, hope you enjoy it. Hobbit village looks so cute. Great share again and we cant wait for your next one. ONE LOVE

So happy you were all able to see the glow worms (sounds so much better than gnats!) - and you got to see them twice. As much as I would have liked to see them I so love the fact that photos and video were banned to truly enjoy the experience. (the ones at the entrance looked amazing.) Will so be doing this when I get to New Zealand in the future.
I couldn’t believe they are actually gnats too! I’m glad they enforced the no cameras rule. The light from our cameras/phones would disturb the glowworms and we really got to enjoy ourselves. It’s a must do if you’re in New Zealand! 🥰

I know! The guides know the caves like the backs of their hand. They guide the boats in complete darkness!
As always you found some great foodie spots on this trip! It made me laugh during the food zooming in and out... my husband makes fun of me and does that too. Too bad you couldn't film the glow worms!! I completely understand why, but I guess it's viewers will just have to go see them ourselves 👌.

Oh my gosh I've always wanted to see glow worms!! I didn't know you could see them in NZ. Shame you couldn't film, but totally understandable and happy you got to experience it with your family!
