    I desire that you succeed with making homes more energy efficient. I have helped build many homes in Pacific Northwest that are extremely energy efficient. You will be in my prayers.

    My Grandmothers, Grandmothers floors were pack by foot then swept then sprinkled with water then swept again. The finish was better than concrete

      I like the idea of oiling the floor but the packing and watering, I also understand.

    Couldn't you put in a masonry stove, which burns at higher, more efficient temperatures and holds the heat much better than a wood burning stove? Also, could the floors be sealed with a mud plaster and linseed oil (see Charlie Carruthers for his methods on plastering) so the grounds isn't loose? These kind of floors are so warm and soft to walk on and since the sealant isn't permanent, the floor can be reworked if there's any damage.

      Cobb houses? and Mud lime Floors and Lime wash on Cobb house walls.. using linseed oil..
