Buses in Manchester on Tuesday 25th June 2024

On Tuesday 25th June 2024, we visited Manchester City Centre to film buses that were on our wish list to capture on film.
Absolutely top of the pile was Stagecoach Manchester E400, 19470 turned out in a splendid Greater Manchester Transport brown, orange and white retro livery. We use the word "retro" rather than heritage inasmuch as heritage liveries are usually pretty good approximations of the old livery but 19470 is absolutely spot on with fleet numbers, typefaces and legal lettering all true to original specifications. You can always spot the retro liveries applied in Stagecoach group companies where Rob Jones is the managing director - his team produced a Ribble NBC livery at Lancaster and a Stagecoach "Texaco stripe" single decker at Carlisle - as the attention is in the detail and Stagecoach does not appear on the bus except for legal address. Well done to Rob and his team for yet another amazing winner.
We also topped up our list of 842xx series ADL E400CityEVs leaving us with just two to get, hopefully on our next visit (84218 and 84248) as well as Go North West's similar bus 2044 which always seems to be on the 470 from Bolton to Rochdale when we go to Manchester.
