I used to fall asleep with my head on the floorboards above the engines while traveling by boat as a kid. The lower my head was the less bobbing and I felt less sick. I would wake up after being worn out from the seas drooling all over myself from deep sleeps. This happened repeatedly and was when I realized the engines had a wonderful traquilizing effect on me.
same, my dad owned a big retro-looking motorboat, and it had two humungulus inline 9s with tons of power, altho we barely ever ran them above 30% power, and lemme tell ya, they sounded amazing, and could with ease lift this 11 ton boat completely out of the water and make it skip over the ocean, i would in my young age often lay ontop of the engine covers, which where carpeted, and just listen to the engines rattle along on long summer vacations and sleep and do whatever, very similarly to you
Did a lot of traveling when I was young and realized that if you went to sleep, a boring trip wasn’t so long. I’ve slept to the sounds of the DC3-4-6-7, the Connie, WWII cargo ships, steam locomotives, diesel Autoferros, Greyhound buses, the Boeing 707 and an aircraft carrier. I think the harmonics of the DC engines when they get out of sync is my favorite.
Interestingly I read there was a British King or Prince who served in the Royal Navy. Maybe King George V ? When he left the Navy after many years, he said he couldn’t get to sleep on land. Probably because he was so used to life on a ship that sleeping on land was too quiet for him, the “silence was deafening”. So he had a gramophone record made of a battleships engines that he had to play at night.
Bizarrely I listen to videos by the UA-camr Sub Brief. They’re usually long enough that I’m asleep by the end of the lecture, he has a soothing voice and the lectures are usually quite dry (excuse the pun).
Nice sounds if the sub is running on batteries and electric motors. Diesels are so loud in that small space you need good ear protection and there's nothing relaxing about them.
@@Roboboboi No I didnt work in one lol, I'd have to be at least 90 and or dead But those old U-boot diesels sounded a lot different from this. It was more like this ua-cam.com/video/zLfa43_1WH8/v-deo.html

Works simmilar for me. I don't spend much time on see, but I never sleep as good as when I'm on a ship.

UA-cam algorithm has a interesting sense of timing
this has become one of my easiest ways of falling asleep and staying asleep
Yeah, this does not sound like the engine room. The sound of the engine room is not soothing. But, I REALLY LIKE THIS VIDEO. Great for falling asleep.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ah yes I love sleeping with this with a knock off playstation controller in my hand to pretend I’m in the Titanic submarine ❤️
how can you be such a loser??
Best Diesel Engine sound Ever!!!

I like it. Nuff Said. Thank You
I hate hearing people talk all day, and this is the sound I max volume in my earbuds to ignore you with.
This is great really love to be there and up periscope 😁😁😁
IRL sounds nothing like this, but still very soothing
Good tune.

Yup. Worked in many diesel electric power plants in my 20 years in the Air Force. Maybe subs have quiet diesels.
Mother! I turned the cooling units off, Mother!! 🤠🇺🇸
lol, that's funny. Thank you
Play it on 2 stereos at same time the harmonics are better
On all these white noise
So, 4 speakers?

Having served on Submarines, as an MM2, this is not what they sound like.
Plus your pic is for a diesel, which wouldn't sound anything like this.
I bet you're fun at parties..now shh...and go to sleep 🎉
