- Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan has recently made a good debut with Netflix's Maharaj directed by Hichki fame Siddharth P Malhotra. The film ran into a controversy and its release was stalled before it finally got a green signal from Court. While a section claimed it hurt religious sentiments, the Court called the claim null and void. In this chat with Galatta India, Siddharth talks about the entire controversy and shares the anxiety and agony the team had to deal with, before the film hit Netflix. Not just that, Junaid Khan also reveals how he's been away from the prying away, unlike other contemporary starkids who he claims to not know personally at all. Ask him about being quiet and not having a heavily curated launch and he just smiles. He shares he's been rejected several times for many reasons and also responds to dad Aamir Khan's claims of his kids not listening to him at all. While Siddharth shares Junaid doesn't even borrow his dad's car, he reiterates by adding that Aamir indeed paid for his theatre education and still pays his bills. In the end, he also discusses the family dynamics today after his parents remained friends post separation and co-parented both him and Ira. Watch all this in this interview.

These 2 provoking questions should not be asked. It’s awful to set people up for competition, antagonism, shame, disrespect, harassment etc. etc. The zeitgeist of our times changes every few yrs and everyone, starkids and outsiders alike reflect those changes. I love ALL the starkids, they bring their own talents and uniqueness to the table. However, Sara, Suhana, Jhanvi and Khushi I haven’t made up my mind on yet. I look forward to seeing Junaid’s work, I hope it’s good, he’s a handsome guy.

I actually never knew Junaid was a star kid and that too Amir khans son when I saw the movie. I loved the movie and Junaid s acting and was pleasantly surprised to know he is Amir s son.
I know Reena from when we were both in College together, and I am not surprised that her son is so likeable and down to earth. She was a very simple but intelligent girl.

Why the whole media is tell him as Amir Khan son.. IT WAS REENA DUTTA who raise him abd her sister... Gave good values to them .. encourage them to do social work Amir wS busy in bollywood parties and flirting wirh other womens ..

Agree, loved the film. Such a sensitive topic, and yet you're not left with a bad taste in your mouth when it's over. That's a fantastic achievement. Everybody deserves all the accolades they are going to get. Much respect to them for daring to take on such a project, and wanting to tell such a story. And yes, they come across as obviously hardworking and honest, which is quite endearing. Thank you for a great movie guys.

Juanid is so real… the way he said that Aamir paid for his education, theatre is very expensive. I like how even his dressing is so simplistic.
He is kind, polite, well spoken, respectful and most importantly just honest and himself. What a breath of fresh air. Nothing flashy nothing fake. I want Junaid to do well. What a wonderful boy! And he acts very well. I loved seeing him and his eyes speak volumes in maharaja. Jaideep is a stalwart and Junaid held his own so strong and righteously so in his character as a social reformer. There is something unique and special as in magical about Junaid and his art

On being asked about why he had a different temperament unlike other starkids, Junaid's candid reply, "I think I put so little effort..." just nailed it.These days 'being oneself' seems to be the thing of past. Good to see such a down to earth fellow. His mannerisms, outlook, conversations all reflect how theatre runs in his veins. Very impressive. Hope he sustains this spirit.👍

I think the uhms and aahs, the finding himself searching for words, and all the half laughs is all probably because he's anxious that his words should not be misunderstood or misinterpreted. It is admirable that he wants to strike a balance between being a respectful, humble and grateful son on the one side, and a grown man who has his own identity on the other. It's refreshing that he isn't desperate to look and sound good on camera. He is way more endearing and sexier than all of the brash stars or celebrity kids who try to look and behave "hot" all the time.

fresh face, fresh acting, fresh STYLE of debut for a star kid. nowadays so much noise is made before a star kid's debut, with social media constantly abuzz n all d marketing that goes before release, even if u r not actively following any news or star kids themselves u'll still know a lot abt them cos of continuous infprmation overload on d media about them. so seeing a star kid debut so silently was such a pleasure! aided by his amazing acting skills. i had no clue it was him while watching d movie. i did see his pics once or twice before but in d movie he looked completely diff. when i found out later i was mindblown! now this is what i call a zabardast debut. with no noise or hype, shining just by pure talent. perfect example of less is more. (less hype, more effective debut). i still cant get over him from d movie😍 he was brilliant! wish d movie was a series😂 if nepotism gives us such talents then i dont mind..really!

I absolutely love feedback and constructive criticism and how the other person corrected me. Or even you wrote about me using a wrong word. But immediately after you correct me, you write "Learn English". You don't even think there's a room for someone to make a small mistake. That's really not criticism, it's an attack. The fact that i had no idea that he was literally Amir Khan's son before i saw the review. Good actors don't need the drama, problems was never star kids but the unfair advantage they have despite horrible acting skills. Here his acting was so good. This cones from family. Ira khan too is so vocal about mental health.

I fell in love with Amir Khan when i watched 3 idiots at the age of 7, i fell in love with Junaid Khan when i watched Maharaj at the age of 21.
There's something VERY different in their genes. I always admired Aamir Khan for his simple unique authentic grounded self. Junaid has same instinct and down to earth, unharmed and simple nature. A real gentleman. Both father son aren't like artificial people of this age. They are far from limelight still they shine.
