Great, great trip Barry. I just returned from Iceland and recognize many of the same locations from the "Golden Ring" as they call it. Your journey was decidedly more adventurous however. We drove and hiked, no bikes no tents ): Your film really does communicate the vastness and rawness of the landscape, the power of the water and the scale of the mountains, glaciers and sky that kept me enchanted throughout our trip. I'm going to share your film with my friends and thanks for taking us along on your adventure. As always, a delight!
Hey Rusty!!! So sorry for my mega slow reply! Yeah what a trip it was and what a place it is! Very luckily got to revisit this year and had a weeks cycling around the 'golden ring' places again and rode an incredible piece of single track south of thingviller! Iceland is never far away from my dreams, desperate to venture deeper east
Wow thank you so much Joseph, yes it has been such a tough time! But we can start to explore now and enjoy nature again! Lets make sure we seize all the opportunities we can now :-)
Oh this was an epic trip! I have it pop into my mind so much, those epic vast endless views! I was meant to revisit this year but will have to wait until next now
Wow, that was incredible! That looked by far the hardest trip that you've done yet - I think you'll both need a holiday to recover after that haha. I'm not sure I would've enjoyed that many water crossings, but it looked incredible. Well filmed and edited too. Great :)
woo~~~this is definitely what I want to do in Iceland!! You guys are brave!! for the river crossing, I find it's very difficult to cross over in 19:55 (the widest) and 22:00 (the deepest). Could you share with me the location (or crossing point) of these two rivers? I got a travel bike with a bike trailer, not sure if it's possible to go through it. Thanks~~~
In a sea of so many trip videos this one was atrue adventure. Epic. And filmed and shown so well. Would love to hear what gear you brought, used and the gear successes or failure. Tryly modern expedition of fun. Thx.
Hi! Thank you so much, yes was such an incredible trip and one I will never forget. Have been desperate to get back there ever since. I don't know if you have seen but I have been doing a series called BG tips where I go through all my kit, piece by piece. My kit has not changed much since this trip so worth a watch. Thanks
Hi! Great journey guys. Could you share the mames of the locations you pass through or at least the itinerary please? Tnks a lot. I am planning my Iceland bike packing trip and I am trying to decide which route is the most available.
Hey Cesar, Sorry for slow reply! I have a brief description of the route on a very old website, but maybe helpful, but please do ask more questions on it - barrygodin.wordpress.com/2017/10/26/iceland/
nice trip :) did watch your scotland/whales vids and in prep for the GBdivide route Im following this summer myself I drove Iceland last summer bit more on the road but also tons offroad :) acros the 910 had lot more rain but not this muddy.... also the rivers where bit faster I had the carry the big in the air otherwise the river whill take the bike :( whas a nice big adventure to

@@paulverweij6348 Yeah, but it will always be there! just dream about it and do it in a coming year, I am not looking at going abroad this year, rules are changing every second, so looking for closer to home adventures
Hi Barry, I enjoyed watching this adventure of yours a second time as much as I did the first. I find though that it lacks a little some surimposed map that shows where places are you going, as just saying those very difficult Icelandic names is not enough

great video! Looks to me though that you were a few weeks too early in the season. That soft mud, snow fields and swelled rivers would have been more manageable from late july to early august.
Thank you so much, this film took so long to edit. It was such an incredible experience, and I am desperate to get back there, had a trip book this year which sadly has been cancelled. The month was June!!!
@@barrygodin7538 I’m amazed you got 1 bike on board, let alone two. Was there a place to leave the bike box/bag or the return journey? My apologies for all the questions, but I am very interested for my group of 4 once COVID is under control.
@@docfloc Hi, well we left the box/bag at a youth hostel, just paid them a small amount to keep them in their baggage room. Yeah I would ask easy jet as not sure how many bikes they can take, but never had a problem with 2
These guys must be loaded, eating in an Icelandic restaurant requires a major financial commitment. I was there in 2016, when apparently Iceland was relatively "cheap". The most fuckin outrageously expensive place in the Northern hemisphere, worth visiting but the UK pound aint worth shit in that land.
Haha, bikepacking in Iceland is a lot cheaper, so the splash out to treat ourselves in a restaurant, out of the way on the southern coast, the cost was not that bad

Fantastic trip. I love seeing you and your Longitude going places. Iceland is tough as the weather is so unpredictable and can get so rough so fast.
Haha, we have been some places together :-) Iceland is tough but gives so much back at the same time
An other really good film Barry. - just a bit confused what was your actual route I'm planning to do a bit of bike packing this Sep travel permitting
Hey thank you so much, Yes the plan changed some many times during this trip, but was an experience of a lifetime, I hope you get out!

Awesome trip! What was the bike you used n this journey ?
Hi, my bike is a Genesis Longitude
So well filmed and edited. It looked tuff to the point of being masochism. What month did you do this?

Rigid and suspension forks. I lean towards the first one for economical reasons and simplicity / weight sake... What say you?
Hi, I cover this in another video, I like the rigid as it stops bags rubbing. Also a lot easier to carry fork bags
@@barrygodin7538 can you share the link, please?

We flew them with easy jet. Use a simple bike box which we put into bike bags to make easier to carry.
