Delightful song from "Darby O'Gill and the Little People" sung by Sean Connery and Janet Munro.
This always reminds me of my parents and how my father became an honorary Irishman when he gave my mother his "Follow Me" Infantry pin from Fort Benning and asked her to be his bride.
🍀"Pretty Irish Girl"🍀
Have you ever seen the seagulls
A-flyin' o'er the heather
Or the crimson sails on Galway Bay
The fishermen unfurl
Oh, the earth is filled with beauty
And its gathered all together
In the form and face and dainty grace
Of a pretty Irish girl
Oh, she's my dear, my darlin' one
Her eyes so sparklin' full of fun
No other, no other
Can match the likes of her
She's my dear, my darlin' one
My smilin' and beguilin' one
I love the ground she walks upon
My pretty Irish girl
Have you ever seen the morning in
Kerry and Killarny
When the dew is on the hayrick
And ev'ry drop a pearl
When the geese are full of blarney
And the thrush is singing Gaelic
And standing in the doorway
Is a Pretty Irish Girl
Oh, she's my dear, my darlin' one
Her eyes so sparklin' full of fun
No other, no other
Can match the likes of her
She's my dear my darlin' one
My smilin' and beguilin' one
I love the ground she walks upon
My pretty Irish girl
When I'm parted from my darlin'
My sighs would sail a schooner
And when I cannot reach her, sure
My tears would turn a mill
Since she cannot be unkind
To any helpless creature
I think that I will marry me
A pretty Irish Girl
Oh, she's my dear, my darlin' one
Her eyes so sparklin' full of fun
No other, no other
Can match the likes of her
She's my dear my darlin' one
My smilin' and beguilin' one
I love the ground she walks upon
My pretty Irish girl

The faint chirp of a cellphone alert broke the stillness of night...
It was a notification from our channel that someone had made a comment...
“Rest in peace Sir Sean.
Thanks for the memories.”
This is how I learned that we lost him.

Best movie of my youth. Thank you 33rd dergree sourcery.
my favorite movie of his, he was so handsome and debonair. so sad he's gone, but he'll live on forever.
A St. Patrick's Day must! Love this song!
When I learned about Sir Connery's death I pulled out all of his bond films watched them and then finished out with this movie. It's my favorite Disney movie a great way to say goodbye to an icon.
RIP Sir Sean Connery

So classic. The girl was lovely. RIP both.
Amen 🙏🏽
I loved this movie when I was a kid. Watched it many times. I just kinda noticed though... did Disney base the Gaston characters look (Beauty & the Beast) after Sean Connery's character in this film?
Doesn't matter. This is an iconic movie. I'm gonna watch it on St Paddy's day.
Hmmm! Yes, I can see it!
Love this. Great memory of Sean Connery
Who’s here because they just learned that Sean Connery died? This was the first movie I ever saw him in.

Growing up my father worked long hours and was not always home so my grandfather stepped up to help mentor me in his stead.
There was a moment in childhood when I was eight years old when both of them were home at the same time watching a film together that I was too young to see, except that I did somehow slip into the room just because I wanted to be secretly be with them.
In the movie James Bond meets a girl at the beach and sings to her. Later she knows something he doesn’t even though she has never been to school.
She explains that it is because her father was a Professor and guided her through a set of encyclopedias. She says to him:
"I didn't need to, we had an encyclopedia. I started at A when I was eight, now I've reached T. I bet I know a lot more things than you do!"
At the time I was not very happy about formal education. I had just gotten into a pretty significant fight at school and had been kicked out of private school and would be having to attend public school the following year.
The idea of becoming self-educated appealed to me so I revealed my presence in the room and asked if I could read encyclopedias instead of going to school. Surprisingly, my father said “yes”.
Although he was kidding and said that in jest, I went to sleep excited about never having to go to school again.
The next day my grandfather showed up with a whole set of encyclopedias and said:
“Start with A.”
The bad news was that I still had to go to school. The good news I read them.
By the eighth grade I had read the entire set, making me perhaps the most irritating middle school kid ever...
Just that adventure of sneaking into the den after bedtime and watching a mere glimpse of an old James Bond movie led to a lifetime of loving to read and embarking on a life of adventure, learning, and a willingness to embrace a challenge.
Although we fully admit that we did not really understand them at the time, my best friend in high school and I read all the original Ian Fleming Bond novels and made quite the plan to crash the Junior Prom as Sophomores dressed as the character from our imaginations.
With the whimsy of an old soul, I wanted to wear a white dinner jacket as a nod to another time.
So there we were, two tall dateless sophomores walking around Waikiki like we were the coolest cats on earth.
The world may have thought us fools, but that mere small act of boldness meant we had stepped up in some small immeasurable imperceptible way on the bold road to manliness.
“There is nothing like a challenge to bring out the best in man.”

Me too. I rented the movie tonight; Halloween; because the trailer on TV scared the living daylights out of me (Banshee, the death carriage...) as a young child and to see 29-year-old Sean Connery. Seemed the perfect movie this Halloween in celebration of a well-loved life.
I watched this as a little girl ..then shown my children and then my grand daughter ..beautiful innocent film xxx
Yes! I first watched this movie with my class in 1984. I was in 3rd grade. Immediately thought of it when I heard Sean Connery had died!

Someone really needs to redo the captions on this. They are way off!
What captions?
I never added any, so if they are on there it must be on the original or maybe UA-cam added them.
It was UA-cam
Just got them taken off!
Thank you

Did Sean actually song this or did he just lip sync it.?...sounds very much like Bing Crosby !
He sang it
He sings “Underneath the Mango Tree” in “Dr No”, his first Bond film.
@@OLOHEKAI Right....now that you mention it I do remember that....had quite a good voice
@@OLOHEKAI In fact, didn't he start his career in a stage musical ....the West End production of "South Pacific" ? Seem to recall reading that he credited the American producer of the show as being largely responsible for "inventing" his ( i.e Sean's) more trans Atlantic Scottish accent
Yes! “South Pacific”!!!
I was also in that play in school, almost forgot all about it!
Take care big man, hava wee whisky with albert, not too much tho, or janet will give off at ya, slan legend❤️
