1: They like nighttime.
2: They like fog weather (you can get a smokescreen totem behind Mushgrove swamp for 2k)
3: you can use merlin luck to boost your chances (for 5k at sunstone *must be level 30*)
4. The rods that can catch colossal squids are:
Aurora Rod (6000kg) (obtainable in vertigo when its aurora borealis for 90k)
Mythical Rod (2000kg) (has a chance to spawn when a traveling merchant spawns for 110k)
Sunken Rod (5000kg) (obtainable in treasure chest 1/200 chance)
Reinforced Rod (inf kg) (obtainable at desolate deep for 20k)
Rod of The Depths (30000kg) (obtainable in The Depths for 750k (Must have Hexed relic and abyssal relic)
Steady Rod (100000kg) (obtainable as shown in the video at Roslit bay for 7k)
Trident Rod (6000kg) (obtainable when the player has fully completion of the desolate deeps bestiary for 150k (must have 5 enchant relics to open the room)
Nocturnal Rod (2000kg) (obtainable in vertigo for 11k (go into a strange whirlpool/a whirlpool with a beam)
Destiny Rod (2000kg) (obtainable in the arch for 190k when player has 70% of the total bestiary completed)
Kings Rod (inf kg) (obtainable in the keepers altar) (go left when going out of the elevator)
Midas Rod (4000kg) (obtainable when traveling merchant comes for 55k)
Scurvy Rod (2000kg) (found at forsaken next to the pirate for 50k)

Id recommend for beginners to buy the mythic rod before buying the trident, since it gives you the mythic mutation, it can give you a lot of money. Tip: they nerfed goldfish, it’s terrible now, it’s sold for 800 dollars.
