Jake pissed Mike off talking about his dead daughter and Mike has already made it very clear he took it personally and is planning to punish Jake. He wants to make the punishment last and will likely hold back his full power until he's had enough and wants to end it. 16oz gloves might have helped Mike from hurting Jake too much, too fast, while also knowing if Jake landed anything it wouldn't do any damage. When Mike is satisfied with the punishment, expect a body shot so devastating that Jake is hospitalized to get his guts and ribs put back in place. Mike is pissed.

They are not using 16 oz gloves, they are using 14 oz gloves, that is confirmed. Obviously still not the 10 oz gloves it probably should be, but at least there is no headgear. Then again you can still get rocked pretty easily with 14 oz, it is a bit harder then the 16 oz sparing glove take.
I'm glad there's no head gear. It will make it easier to see which cheek bone is broken, which eyes are blackened and where all the blood is coming from.

My personal opinion I think what it comes down to is Mike Tyson likes Jake Paul and is friends with the Paul family.
