@@ikamp3 it’s so the artist don’t have to go back and forth and film which angle they want to look good in, if you look at chanel’s performance so much of her close ups are literally perfect bc she know’s where the cameras are and when the cameras are zooming in or not, thanks to stand in’s!! stand in’s like the girl in the video helps chanel visualize how she wants to look in her performance (facial expressions)
@@lolclue1310 thank you the reply! The part where I get confused - is not it lots of work to teach stand -ins all the dance moves, mimics, head turns, etc? Also, should not artists actually show filming crew which angles they want? (So again, I think artist can demonstrate it better than stand in)
Also, a few years ago stand ins used to actually sing. I really do not get it. What js he point???
@@ikamp3 The stand in is a person whose job it is to "stand in". The performer, Chanel in this case, has much more to do with her time being the performer for Spain. She can't be doing rehearsals all day to figure out camera angles. So the stand in is dedicated to doing just that. Now, the actual performer and dancers don't have to spend even more time on the routine. They watch the stand in do it, and give comments to the crew like "that angle was great! let's use it for the real thing." or " I don't like that angle, I don't want to look like that when I go on the stage, please change the angle as so."
And because mimics don't have all the other dozens of responsibilities the performers have, the amount of work to learn it all doesn't really matter. They have their whole schedule to do it.
@@ikamp3 it's only this year and last year with the full lipsync. Before the stand ins had to actually sing the song.

You're right, this performer is actually called Dior and the song was called Unhurried Shifting, or Un-Shift. She's from Spoin (that's how it spelt in this universe) and she won because in this universe only the 3rd place wins.

Camera angles and lighting in stand-in rehearsals are always atrocious, every year. Gladly the delegations know how to do it better
@@Kronotus they are the same angles they use in the national selection. they have to start somewhere that's why it's a Rehearsal. it gives them a base point. they are not atrocious, the truth is you shouldn't be seeing this.

yea.. the camera work this year was terrible as is. Imagine if the 'slomo' strobe light shots were done from a wide angle shot... lol

you are talking out of your arse. SPAIN did the camera work. every country does their own camera work. it's how it goes. they were shooting this rehearsal for other reasons not camera positions.
@@Juventinos agreed. The wide shots when the chorus drops were also based on the National Final performance.
@@Juventinos not true. Every country can give directions of how it should be filmed, but ultimately they also have to have shots that show off the stage etc so not every angle is going to be the way the country wants

Needless to say, stand-ins are arguably the cornerstones of Eurovision. The final “Let’s go!” pretty much summarises how thrilling this rehearsal was (and of course Chanel’s own renditions afterwards!) ❤️👏

I actually prefer the lighting here during the dance break. I thought the fake flames were a bit cheap and distracting in the final performance. Still one of the top ESC performance of all time though of course

Can anyone explain what these stand in rehearsals are? Are these for the production/camera team? Thanks in advance :)
They're for the delegation to work with camera/lighting and videographers so that they can get the shots/angles and lighting perfect, all while the artist either rests up, watches or tends to other duties such as the demanding schedule of interviews and publicity.

The most part of what I've seen so far are “only” there to dance or be stand-up, not singing at all. It's more related to positions, cameras point of view and illuminations / LEDS or things like that.
