Sammy bull is not an extraordinary interview to me, but some one like Michael being transformed from being apart of an evil life to now being apart of a life spreading goodness through Christ that amazing and extraordinary to me!!!
The great thing about Sammy is his knowledge. Before his first interview with Patrick Bet David there were a lot of blank pages in our collective "Mafia history book", and he is able to connect dots and fill in a lot of the blanks. One of many examples is the Paul Castellano hit. It's only because of Sammy that we know every single detail of that VERY major event in Mafia history. How it came to be, everyone involved, how it was planned and carried out eg. verbatim conversations and so forth. But beyond that he tells very vivid stories about other well known mafioso's almost to the point where you feel like you know these people. So as bad of a human that he may be and certainly was, his intimate knowledge of Cosa Nostra is invaluable.
God does not always call the most pious to become the Bell Sheep. Michael uses his knowledge of crime to educate the youth of what to expect if they follow the wrong path. Thanks Michael.
Micheal mentioned what it said about him that he could step outside of himself to commit violence and a very wise man once said “the line between good and evil runs through every man’s heart “ so it means nothing because in the wrong situation everyone is capable of horrific things
I went through this. I didn’t realize anything until I was well into my 30s. Once talking w other people and their childhoods along the way, I began to realize mine wasn’t normal
Megyn never passes up an opportunity to disparage Rudy and Trump for that matter. She acts like she’s different from the msm and mostly she is, but she still likes to dip her toes in to carry water for them. She doesn’t fool everyone like she thinks she does.
Michael def does not look 72 at all I was surprised when I heard that he was that old a year or 2 ago. You’d think that life would do major damage but I respect the man. He didn’t get to choose his father and he did the best he could and trying to redeem himself and speak positively
I saw a lot of that in my 26 years working in a California state prison. Finding a god or a religion was good therapy for many in the population. For some it was a temporary phenomenon and others long lasting. Not very many atheists in the prison environment according to a study within the federal prison system.
Megan, putting the full interview is a better idea, don’t do what other podcasts do split into 1000 videos, it’s annoying. Great guest, Michael is the Real one.
Very interesting dialogue, I remember hearing about Sonny Franzese, many years back when I grew up in the Bronx, he was a charismatic and yet reserved man of honor well known and feared. Michael Franzese who also walked the walk, who’s reputation was made on his earning capabilities as a racketeer. Although he is very careful and thoughtful talking about his years on the street, you can’t help but notice how he does not say anything that would implicate certain crimes that statutes of limitation would still be in play. So it is noticeable when he discusses work he’s had to do he is measured and extremely careful as not to divulge any event that the feds would come back knocking on his door! I’m sure with the phrase “I stepped outside myself, during those times” speaks volumes. Only he knows what orders he’s had to carry out, that may have impacted other made men, based on its obvious that he’s still a man of honor following omertà till this day. Still he’s an inspiration as to how a man can change in the right circumstances! Excellent interview, well done Ms Kelly!
It is so fascinating to me that people that have spent time in prison ALWAYS look much younger than they are. I think some of it can be attributed to the lack of sunlight. I wonder if it is more due to the lack of daily stressors like going to work, paying bills, dealing with things people on the outside have to deal with day to day (traffic, cars breaking down, family illness, homes needing repair, etc, etc).
Nothing more than good genes. Did you not hear what he said about his early years trying to support his mother and his siblings? It doesn’t seem like a stress free life if you heard what he said about the fate of not only his father but that of his mother and siblings. Nor do I believe prison is anything close to a stress free environment, the stress might come in different forms than worrying over traffic or your electric bill but it’s still stress. The biggest difference, I would say, is that once imprisoned, all your ability to make your own choices is gone. Many of the stressors of our lives we inflict upon ourselves, a different choice is available, we just don’t always have the sense to make it.
My family is originally from Sicily. My grandpa was a straight shooter, but my old man was involved in a lot of bad things. He was not a made guy, but he was definitely involved in organized crime. I can relate a lot to these stories from Franzese and Gravano. The first person I ever saw shot was my Pop. A hitman came into our home and shot my dad right in front of me one night after we had went to see Escape from Alcatraz at the theater. Thankfully, my old man survived, thanks to a world renowned trauma surgeon who will remain unnamed. Thank God my grandpa was a good friend to him and called him right away to save my dad's life. Anyway, my Pop was in and out of the penitentiary when I was growing up, so my brothers and I were raised by my grandparents which was the best thing that ever happened to us. I was still very close to my Pop, and strangely enough, I took a career in law enforcement after the military, but his life eventually caught up with him, and he died fairly young at 63 from complications of his life. My dad did bad things to other bad people, but he was a good father who was always good to us kids and taught us how to be men. Not a day goes by that I don't miss him. I know he was a believer in his later life, so I hope to see him in the Lord's kingdom someday. RIP Pop.
Michael is a bright guy ,suppose to be a doctor ..His intelligence and some luck ,is the reason he is still walking this earth ..Good 4 him….God bless him ,pretty sure he has ..Great interview Megyn ,thank u
Nope, not buying this guy. A truly godly, converted man of God won't have a Godfather poster on the wall for the world to see. Won't be bragging about his criminal exploits for the world, detailing everything. And using God as an excuse to do so.
Should have Michael on for another show just for his stories. I've been following him for four years. He's got great stories. He even met Jeffery McDonald the green beret that killed his wife in 1970. Listen to the prison experiences.
Absolutely admire Michael Franzese - first saw an interview about the Mafia featuring him 20 years ago, he had me at 'hello'! DELIGHTED to see this interview with him! Fascinating man and life. His books, and one of his promotional pictures grace my home. I plan to purchase his wine for a gal pal, she loves wine and deserves the best!
Michael is awesome! I heard him speak at the opening of a SonicFlood concert almost 20 years ago. I said hello briefly at his table where his book was being sold. I was speechless after hearing what he has overcome with Christ!. What God given strength! God bless this man and prayers that his testimony continues to help bring the light of the Lord and glory in the dark days we are in! ✝💙🙏💪
Just a personal opinion. Sammy was a heavy guy and he knows how to play up to that now, but he also strikes me as someone who never really wanted to leave that life. Micheal is cagey about his answers, but lt comes off as remorse for some of the things he’s done. Sammy is great story teller. But Michael is very intelligent and has some wisdom to pass on.
I like his story and his you tube videos. The one thing that is disturbing about him is his continued belief that the mob guys, by and large, were not bad guys. It was "the life" that was bad. Well, sorry, but no. Everyone has choices in life, even those born into terrible life situations. We cannot avoid personal responsibility for our bad choices simply by blaming it on "the life" we are given. That's certainly part of it, but only a part.
I sold Christmas trees on the upper Eastside NYC in the 80’s. Rudy’s housekeeper buys a tree and asks us to deliver it. I deliver the tree to Rudy’s Apt. His security detail frisks me and the tree before I put it in the stand.

The Italians have a fascinating history in the U.S. and Canada and one that should be heard about. The Italians were at the bottom of the ladder in terms of social status but they were very much a part of developing our countries.
