    Definition: the eclectic approach was
    developed by Kumar in 2013, it is a
    combination of different methods of
    teaching and learning approaches.
    In this approach teacher has more
    flexibility and adaptability to choose
    best element according to the need
    and aim of the student. Different
    teaching methods are borrowed and
    adapted to suit the requirement of the
    learners. It is regarded as the third
    important approach in the Moroccan
    context.
    In the eclectic approach, the teacher
    can choose from these different
    methods and approaches:
    ❖ Grammar translation method.
    ❖ Direct method
    ❖ Audiolingual method
    ❖ Communicative language
    method.
    Characteristics and principles of
    eclectics’ approach:
    • It gives a chance to teacher to
    select different teaching
    techniques in each period to reach
    aims of the lesson.
    • It saves a lot time in presenting
    language activities.
    Advantages:
    ➢ It offers multiple
    opportunities to student to
    develop their own skills.
    ➢ Learners become attentive
    and responssive.
    ➢ It breaks the monotony of the
    class and it allows them to
    discuss.
    Disadvantages:
    ➢ it is time consuming.
    ➢ It is not useful to lower
    students.
    ➢ If the teacher does not
    master all the methods and
    approaches, students will be
    confused and demotivated.
    TO SUM UP:
    The most of teachers are
    used these approaches to
    create a variety of interest
    in the learning program and
    to tailor the program fore
    the students.
