Your speech was magic! Thanks Bas!
Indeed inspirational... that craving and passion for being in the air should come from inside you... it shouldn't be a challenge for vanity of yourself or for the others but a motivation and fulfillment for yourself deep inside.
Frankly, since watching your work around here, a lot of improvement happened to me at spiritual and mindset level and I can see this reflected in my training and flying.
You really are an eye opener :)
Hi Christian, thanks for your very kind comment and great feedback. Love to hear my stuff is really helping you out, that is my goal!
I must assume you love the Swift5. Any thoughts on making the choice between Geo6 vs Swift5?
I love it indeed, it is a great wing!! The geo is also great. For me the choice was between the delta and this one. I have been flying high b for around 10 years now and feel very at home there. I flew a mistral 7 from swing before, fantastic wing as well, you can see it in the video too. So for me the geo was not an option, though it is a great wing, it has less snappy handling and less performance than what I am used to flying. But on general thoughts in your case: in general lightweight wings are more dynamic in the air. This is mainly why I chose the swift and not the rush. Same will go for buzz vs geo. The difference in handling and pilot workload between mid and high b is very large, larger than the spread within the other classes. talking about performance and enjoying flying it is always better to fly a wing you can master for 100% than one you master for 80%. This difference is not 20 percent, it will feel like 200. To fly a high b wing most manufacturers recommend you fly at least 40 hrs per year in challenging thermic conditions. Mind you, this is not 40 hours of flying. Only the hours spent in those conditions count. So my advice would be, unless you make those hours, go for the geo!
Courageous video! Love it!
Ari! When can we expect a new video from you? :)
Yo Bro! thanks a lot. that is high praise coming from the world's most renown paragliding philosopher :D
This is a great video. Nicely filmed too. ............. Nah. It is a really great video....... Fekin loved it man. Thanks for making it. I really enjoyed it.............. Did I mention,, this is a great video? 10***********
Wow love hearing this Zalida, really kind comment. Woohooo 10 stars!
@@Flightcoach This video will take some beating.......... So...... Get to it my man!
Wow Bas, this is a nice one!
Glad you like it!
What an impressive story! Thanks for sharing. I will keep that in mind when finally, being able to complete my license. Somehow the fact of not being allowed to go for any XC flights drives me crazy (even before completing the first license). I might just add the full license on top to calm me down and to be free without any concerns getting into legal issues. The process of developing the skills or even the proper mindset is a whole nother story compared to the piece of paper you just need to be allowed to fly (like the checkboxes you mentioned).
Adler thanks a lot! Yeah so true, mindset is often overlooked. Just take it one step at a time and enjoy every step. Took me some time to learn but i see you are getting there faster ;)
Op welke duinen is dat? Wijk aan zee?
Klopt, zitten beelden van WaZ bij, wel van paar jaar geleden, vlieg al een tijdje niet meer meer camera daar (harde schijven staan vol haha)
inspiration great vid
So glad to hear you are feeling this is inspirational Tony, then i achieved my goal :D
Very good video, well explaining the need of self reflection to evolve in a more responsible and skilled pilot. Becoming a good pilot is only partly the technical skills of handling the glider. Also after getting your license think people should keep reviewing each flight. Can only improve your flaws after recognising them.
Thanks a lot Dutch Condor! Also for previewing the episode :D true words!
@@Flightcoach Liked it that you approached me for previewing your video. Seems that we think very much alike in various subjects :-)
Maybe share here as well one of the examples I gave you: a bit more than 10 years ago I made a flight I was dreaming of, and preparing for, for many years already. Once achieved the goal felt like King of the World and had an attitude that nothing could trick me anymore. 2 days later I fucked up about 10 takes offs in a row on a very easy launch-site.
What I mean to say: after you learned how to take-off, stearing, and landing I think paragliding is at least 80% between the ears. Always stay focussed and aware of what you’re doing.
And even for your best flights , if you reflect honestly to yourself you could still find improvements on decisions and actions. Only this way you can evolve and improve yourself in all levels.
Indeed!!
My yoga teacher said the same thing this week: the way you do the one thing is the way you do everything. Nice video Bas.
Hi Ron, thanks a lot, and indeed... i am sure there are so many ways we can reflect on life. Flying is a great way, but isn't it great there are so many more!
From 7:00 to 7:34 the location is Pagny Blanche Côte, France if I am not mistaken...
Correct!!!
Beautiful 👌
Having said all of that its still way too expensive to get a wing and gear and lessons. So in reality we haven't even seen the best pilots at all. The privileged get to travel to various global sights, have more time to practice and sharpen their skills and can get the latest wing and harness every year. Ive been ripped off by three different instructors and they could just walk off with your money and you get nothing but a ton of questions you never get the answers to.
Sorry to hear you had such bad experiences. You are the first person I meet in three decades of flying with such a story, may I ask which country you had these experiences in?
I'm watching this video every few days. Great work!
Hey Nicu! Wow man that is awesome, you even watching it regularly.. i have put more inspiration in than I thought 😀
Nice video..good demonstration of what re-evaluation and a change of priorities can achieve :)
Glad you liked it Blackbird!
So glad I stumbled upon your channel.
I'm so glad to hear, thanks for the compliment. I really put a lot of soul into this episode so I am glad this hit the spot for you
Next time someone asks me why I fly, I will just send them this video.
Marcell wow thanks! So glad to hear it captures the essence of that for you! If I may ask, is that because you also mainly fly to "meet" yourself? Or do you mean it in the sense that the video captures the beauty of flying? I was actually thinking making a similar styled video about "why i fly" in the future.
Congrats🥳 And good video, I always enjoy flying. Sometimes tho i get a bit "frustrated" when thermals stay away or when the wing starts to do stuff because of crappy air turbulence or hard wind gusts. I heard some people blame me for cursing a lot.
I think it "frustrates" me because i am actually scared sometimes and i ventilate it like that. I do actually still enjoy it a lot😉
I never had any issues like collapses because i have some sort of natural reaction to it (musscle memory) Or is it because i am totally focussed on keeping the wing over me and flying straight at all times?
And i really learned a lot by doing, listening, looking, etc.
Coming out of my comfort zone feels a bit scary, But i am glad i do it anyway. Making myself stronger and being able to expand my knowledge and skills. I am far from being a know it all, I am actually insecure sometimes. But pushing forward within my own safe limit makes me a more self assured pilot in the end. I agree that everyone is different, And people should embrace that fact.
Great comment. .... ".... wing starts to do stuff because of crappy air..." Nah. There is no crappy air. Just try to ride it instead of fighting it. I'm guessing that you have good fun flying, and after all, that's what it's there for. :)
Edwin thanks a lot, it's been a great yourney this 1st year on YT. Very well spoken we should indeed embrace the differences between people! thanks for sharing your side of the story.
Hi Zalida! That is a nice holistic perspective you have there, that crappy air doesn't exist ;) I think i did encounter difficult air sometimes... but i get your meaning, that is a great mantra: just ride it not fight it!
@@Flightcoach HI Bas. Oh I've been in "difficult " air a few times. Time passes slower when you have to concentrate to keep things together.... I guess the wind/air isn't trying to kill you. It's just doing what it does. We choose to be there to hitch a ride. Sometimes it can be rougher than we expect. We just gotta accept that and learn how to deal with it.
You know that rough conditions can be fun and we can learn from them, if taken in small enough doses. Can be a little scary sometimes, but I'm glad to have experienced it.
My friend used to say, that it's better to be on the ground and wishing you were in the air than be in the air and wishing you were on the ground. I think that's fair enough too :)
Love that flow attitude. Just hitch a ride, indeed. Makes you less tired as well once you have that mindset and encounter challenging conditions:)
Well Done !!! This is great !!!!
Thank you!!
Great story... well said!
Thanks a lot Don, and welcome to the channel!
Sounds like you had a great teacher :-) See you in the sky!
Anton i sure did!... and the one with the quote was actually a different one than the one with the license thing. See you in the sky!
I’ve subscribed since the first video, and this is the best so far. It is obvious that you are finding your voice on this channel. Congratulations!!
John thanks a lot!. Especially seeing since you dont comment super often, this must have really meant something to you :D Well spoken, it does indeed feel like i am finding that voice. Thanks for sticking with me since the beginning!
Great video!yeah long time ago I noticed paragliding is a good way to look inside yourself and way more than just set of skills and technical actions.
Well said Yevhenii! Thanks a lot and welcome to the channel!
This video makes me wants to fly as well :) Beautifully spoken as well mate!
Thanks a ton Don! :) really great to hear how it managed to hit the spot, judging by your DM's yesterday!
Love it! Autenticity beats the skill!! ❤😊
Thanks a lot Stefan!
