Very helpful video. Thank you. I noticed my Powkiddy V90 had the same issue, so I gave this mod a try with it. I ended up having to use a double layer of tape to eliminate the problem completely. I also used thinner strips to avoid the contact points as well. I have a 35XX on order and will be doing the same thing to it. Again, thanks.
Glad to hear the video helped you out! It’s a shame that some of these low cost handhelds suffer with wonky DPads. I imagine it wouldn’t cost much more to resolve the problem in the factory

Thanks for the very clear video. I don’t have this issue (yet) but I was curious to know how easy it I was to replace the display. Your video obviously doesn’t cover that but when I paused on the rear of the display I could not see any screws holding it in place. What’s your experience?
I have mine coming in on wed cant wait for it allready have a new sd card set up wwith garlic OS and my roms rdy to go will do this mod the sec its out of the box as well as the mod to stop the back button rattle by putting some tape on them.
I dropped mine and the screen is a goner. This video helped me disassemble the device for a screen replacement. Now I just need to acquire one. Would you happen to know what kind of screen I need for the rg35xx?
@@anbernicguy Im aware the battery can be replaced. I've heard of people getting higher capacity batteries to work, though finding one the right size can be difficult. Im not sure about changing the screen out for something higher res. Personally I wouldnt worry about a higher resolution, the games it can play look great on it
I really don’t understand what I’m doing wrong here. My up and left almost only register up+left. When I add the cross, I lose the left input entirely.
@@ConnersRetroOmnibus yeah, it surely depends on how much you're playing and the way you use the Dpad. For me it came loose after a couple of tense street fighter sessions xD

What is the width of the tape?
I ordered some replacement buttons to change them to a fun color. Once these ship in I'll be doing this mod as well. Thanks for the instructive video.
Nice! I was looking at some different buttons myself. I’d be interested to know where you get yours from if they’re good quality
Exact video I was looking for. Thanks for the help
I didn't think I need to fix the d-pad until I played gungage, it feels so broken when playing that game
You’ll only feel it in certain games. Anything fast paced or precise and you’ll immediately know something is off

Srsly you'd think cheap devices have it this bad, the fricken steamdeck has a piss poor dpad too
Thanks to yt algorithm, your video is exactly what I need! Thanks for the tip ❤
Could you please help with a tear down guide for the RG40XX H for this D-Pad fix?

Wish I saw the shoryuken test but looks good. Thanks
4:56 I don't know what parralel universe exists where F-Zero was on the Sega Mega Drive? 😂
Oh damn! Oversight on my part. Good catch
You will suffer with fighting games with this fix
Oh thats what im wondering about. Thanks for this.
I will mostly use it for fighting games

Good to hear. I hope you enjoy the device as much as I do when it arrives. Its such a little funbox

hello i have this issue right now. i wanna ask if you ended up figuring out what screen it uses?
Thanks for this video!
Glad it was helpful!

works like a charm, thx
What is the width of the tape?
Very helpful, cheers
Me servira para una rg353ps ?
Very useful video and the method quiet effective! Thanks a lot!
I had to put three layers of Teflon tape there and it finally works as intended ! woo-hoo
Doesn't work. The tape will move and clutter over time due to the movement and heat.
It’s certainly a possibility, but I’ve not had any trouble since applying the tape myself. Your mileage may vary

just avoid this fucking anbernic brand
That’s a bit harsh. Care to elaborate?
@@ConnersRetroOmnibus almost every anbernic device has d-pad issues. its just outrageous from a "leading" handheld emulator brand.
