Where do y'all get the leathers you use? I think I heard you say Tandy Leather (there is one near me in Virginia so I'll have to check them out) but I was wondering if there are any others. As well, have y'all tanned your own hides or gotten any leather from friends etc?
Separate question - how do you store all of your leather/scraps? I currently just have a big canvas sack with some of my scraps and old ropes but I was wondering if there is a better, more organized, or nicer looking way.

Samuel Hill Thanks so much for your interest and kind words! We do get all of our leather from Tandy. They are nationwide, so there's some all over the place. that's awesome there's one close to you!! Leather is a little interesting to store. We have sacks as well as bins where we keep scraps. If the leather is large enough to roll, we will do that and tie it. We did try tanning our own deer hide once, and it is tough! ;-) Let us know if you have any further questions! Thanks!

Great content guys. What are the tanneries you go through to buy the types of leathers? I'm assuming you choose certain tanneries over others for the kind of leathers you want. Thanks in advance.

Greg Thompson We use Tandy Leather Factory for our leather needs - they get their lether from various different tanneries. This is easier for us because it's a one stop shop!

If i'm trying to make deck boxes with designs or engraved things in it what kind of hide would i need? Btw Love the deck box it turned out really awesome!!

Crafter11saun As long as it's veg-tanned and has a stiffness to it, it will tool well. ;-)
