I was so disappointed that William Frawley was nominated 5 times for an Emmy and never won. He had tough competition but he should have won once!

It was no secret Vance didn't care for Frawley. He was old enough to be her father, and off the show, Vance was a glamorous woman.
Do you think actors today would bury personal issues and produce such fine work? HELL NO! They would BITCH 24/7!!

My fave Fred moment- when Ethel shimmies into the Ricardo's apartment wearing a skim tight leopard print dress, Ricky looks at her in shock & blurts out, "who's that?"...that's when Fred retorts, "who's that....?, what's that". I laughed my ass off!

There has never been a show since that compares to "I Love Lucy." The cast, characters, writers and everyone who contributed made the show absolute comic perfection. With each leading cast member a song and dance talent in their own right, it made the numerous interludes a joy to watch. William Frawley had such a great delivery and timing that he's forever Fred Mertz. Thank you for creating and sharing this marvelous compilation.

Lucy gets out of her half of the costume, while Fred comes in and says hi to Lucy then to Ethel who was still inside the back end. @@kurtislawler984 I agree with that. The scripts were so typical. Lucy always got into some kind of financial jam and needed Mr. Mooney's help. Either that or they relied on the old stand by, the misunderstanding. The same kind of formula they used in 80% of the "Three's Company" scripts. The hour long Lucy and Desi Show which I believe ran from 1958 to 1960 had much funnier scripts.

That was a different show. Ricky had the gun.
      "Synopsis
Lucy read a murder mystery. She listened to Ethel's fortune-telling, and thinks Ricky is trying to kill her.
      Plot
Ethel learns how to tell fortunes from playing cards, and when she tells Lucy's fortune, death comes up for the future. Because of this, along with reading "The Mocking Bird Murder Mystery", Lucy jumps to the conclusion that her husband, Ricky, is planning on murdering her, at first Lucy thinks that Ricky wants to strangle her. Then she thinks that he is going to shoot her, and when Ricky gives her a sleeping pouch to calm down her hysterical behavior, she thinks for sure that she has been poisoned. So before she "dies" she goes down to the studio to confront the murder, Ricky, about trying to kill her. She tells him how she found a gun in their house and that he is going to kill her with it. Ricky pulls out the gun that she is talking about and points it at her, Lucy screams, Ricky pulls the trigger and a little flag pops out that says BANG on it. So Lucy and Ricky make up for all of the confusion and they go home."

A few months ago I decided to watch only him in every episode. I had realized that William Frawley was a very good actor. Now when I watch ILL💜 Fred stands out and completes the whole sketch.

This show was genius! The writer's were outstanding. Ethel, Fred and Ricky were perfect, ~ and of course, Lucy! You can't get much better comedy. Even my son watched these with me when he was young and loved them. Seinfeld was a close 2nd for me.

While Seinfeld is heralded as # 1 - I don't think it comes close. I never watch reruns of the show. Seen it once, it's enough. While with I Love Lucy watched it first as a child when it first came out in 1951 (our first tv) still watching it today over 70 years later. Still laugh and appreciate the great team and fantastic writing. I will probably watch it till my very last years. Thank you to all who put this show together - people all over the world laughed and still are. Much love to you all. Just read yet another book Laughing With Lucy by Madelyn Pugh Davis with Bob Carroll Jr. Worth the read!

Another fun video, Rick. Well done! You know, like the Beatles, the cast of "Lucy" was so much more than the sum of the parts. I love that Bill Frawley could crack up Desi and Lucy - their laughs do look genuine. Which is something that made the show seem special and unrehearsed. In a lot of sitcoms, the actors say incredibly funny things but no one laughs. That's not like real life. In real life, we laugh when people say funny stuff. "Lucy" was more like real life, at least when it came to human reactions. Great show!

This is still the best show on TV, hands down, everything came together to make a wonderful show, cast, writers, a live audience even before canned laughter! The actors and actresses these days don't know how to act let alone sing, dance or do comedy, in the old days they did whatever it took to become famous. These days they do one job. Happy New Year everyone!

No retakes - like a live play every time. I remember when only once Lucy did not come out on cue, was somewhat late. Her mother, who had attended all her performances had recently died. Lucy came out, and began to cry telling the audience the above. So real and so touching - of course the audience felt her sadness - and pain. We all Love Lucy.
