    Remember that these areas often experience market failure due to reduced per capita density. Rural areas (particularly coastal) often experience higher housing in relation to earning capability.

    What’s an actual example of what someone will save as opposed to a market value home cost?
    It shouldn’t be this difficult to find the answer to this question
    The word “affordable” is completely subjective and useless in this context without specifics

      depends on overall location. its typically a modest amount, that may be significant over a lifetime but the real point here is in the long term collective good. they help stabilize the market, so land value doesn't increase rapidly and lead to gentrification which is inevitable under the ubiquitous commodity model. Its also a more more practical way to care for and steward natural resources.
      Im assuming the "American work" hes referring to is Elinor Ostroms work "Governing the Commons"

      @@tama256tx no he said 1/3rd of the value of buying a new house is in the land value... but im surprised, i think its much higher now
