Sad to see the series of Phu Quoc videos come to an end. My wife was born and raised on this beautiful island. Longtime watcher and huge fan of your content. Safe travels Kevin!
Loving the past couple of Phu Quoc videos. Like you said, probably wouldn’t travel across the globe just to visit, but would definitely check it out on a layover or something. Added the other Phu Quoc hotels on the list already
I love your channel, love your humour. It's a lobby!! Being a Kiwi I love the Antipodes brand being used in the bathroom of this hotel. I will keep an eye out to see if I see them again. Keep up the good work.
Hi, Kevin. Another superb video, yet again. As you mentioned, I wouldn't travel from the UK just to visit, but if I were out that way, I would sure pay a visit. 5hanks for bringing us this fab review 😊😊
K: I love your videos and your lifestyle. Very impressed that you have accumulated so many points and statuses with your reward programs. There are so many hotel, airline, and other points programs to choose from. Are there "must haves" that you frequently use or do you join all of them?
If I'm honest, most of my statuses are through 'cheats' (credit cards, status matches, etc). The must haves are the ones you can get for free, or next to it. I have some posts on my Patreon which go into more detail about the programs and my plans for status this year.
Hi Kevin, I stayed there in October. Nice property but every single night LOUD music from the Grand World complex next door accompanied by a blinding strob light so bright I could not sit on my patio every night. Food was great but I will never stay there again…love your videos and humor
Awesome vid as always Kevin! 2 quick questions - do you have a shared playlist on Spotify (I’m liking your taste in music)? Second, would you ever choose inflight meal over book the cook on SQ? Thanks!
Vietnam has one of the most value oriented properties. Inviting pool, magnificient rooms and great service everything one could ask for and with the review of the property all IHG resorts on the island are covered on the channel. Am I the only one who's impressed every time I see an egg holding cutlery? If tourism returns to pre covid levels in Phu Quoc does the property demand increase its prices substantially?
We stayed here during the good old COVID days, Jan 22... genuinely fond memories, and would 100% go back tomorrow, even though we experienced a significantly reduced offering! Easy when you live in Vietnam I guess.....value for money, pretty hard to beat I would say.
Late to comment since I am currently touring New Zealand’s South Island. Thank you for this review, love how your no nonsense approach always manages to cut through the cr*p with dead pan humour “🤫 It’s a lobby..!” 🤣
Another great video, well done. I was thinking about going to Phu Quoc, last visited 10 years ago. I normally stop off in Thailand first, sadly the cost of Vietjet or Vietnam Airways has deterred me from going next month. Vietjet is currently charging 826 US dollars for a Deluxe RTN for two people. In your opinion do you feel the cost of Phu Quoc flights is another reason why hotels are currently experiencing an occupancy shortfall? I assume a lot of tourist have already decided not to venture outside Thailand, this year, due to those short hop prices.
Thanks for another great review! We stayed here for 7 nights in Dec. Overall the stay was comfortable with a few hilarious unfortunate instances. For example, once we asked for an ice bucket via room service and we received a dental kit in return 😂😂. I think some staff are still fresh and need a little bit more training.
Yes even years prior to covid when there were less resorts finding staff on the island had always been a struggle. Many resorts recruit from the Mekong region and train fully from scratch, so inexperience is pervasive across the island. Thanks for watching 🩴
great vid, as usual. i do have one question tho: idk if i allowed ask this but do u travel by urself all time ? i ask out curiosity. u don’t have answer that if u don’t want to, love ur content regardless x
LOL... it can be truly fakeluxe, and that pseudo-French architecture is quite particular, but I was mainly referring to the difference between all these developments in Phu Quoc and how they compare to the current state of other destinations such as Bali. Go see the resorts by VinGroup or others, the dimensions, the materials... then go see what new properties in Bali are doing. Balinese are either way worse, or way more expensive.
Maybe a scandanavian prison block (not that i have any experience!). Thanks for the Phu Quoc series, i really can't make my mind up - parts of it look like any other holiday island (Koh Samui, Langkawi) but then other parts look like Disneyland... is that going to kill its appeal for those of us who don't want a recreation of Paris or Venice in the tropics?
Thank you - another interesting, informative and entertaining review. I agree regarding Crowne Plaza's confusing brand strategy - you'd have thought with the number of different brands IHG have, they would have a better fit than one which I generally associate with 4* city based, business hotels. That aside, the value proposition looks very good and the property appears to be both in excellent condition and very well maintained.. With the large building plot next door, the hotel does appear to be quite remote - is there much within walking distance?
No, this is definitely not a walking distance type of place- until at least the shop houses a couple hundred meters north are filled. Thanks for watching 🩴
Nice clean spacious room layout, access to private beach, A big clean pool, hospitable staff. I am sold, well worth the price. I was planning a bali trip this year end but now i am confused because vietnam looks pretty as well. What do you suggest? My friend warned me about lack of vegetarian food availability throughout vietnam, is that so?
There is a lot of vegetarian food in Vietnam, many people in the country eat vegetarian on two days per (lunar) month and for the total of the 8th lunar month… but it is not a kind of vegetarian you’ll likely be used to- most of it including imitation meats and such. For Veg in VN you’ll need a higher end hotel or stay in a city like Saigon which has loads of Indian restaurants. For beaches + veg, Bali is a better choice.
Is there any convenience store on site? Or at least near supermarket? Would you recommend this hotel for a family of four young children ages 6 yrs and 8 yrs? Thank you!
I generally do so if there is a vibe to the hotel, if not- then something more generic. Using royalty free music limits choices quite a bit! Thanks for watching 🩴
The place looks unreal for 120USD. Granted it is not the I/C Danang but at that price, it is great value for money and would be a strong player in Phuket or in Seminyak and don't get me started with the Philippines . In terms of this being.a CP. I think it may be a consequence of a decision taken before iHG launched Voco or Vignette and it does not really fit in the Indigo concept which in itself has a lot of inconsistencies within its portfolio of properties. Also CP is a relatively strong brand in some Asian Markets and China.
A Holiday Inn Express would be a strong player in the Philippines at this point lol. It's almost as if the large hotel groups forgot they have beaches.
@@tfft thank you. I saw it right after I asked that question! Another question, is there convenience store nearby? I’m travelling with children so I need to stock up on some supplies :)
They has the best clear sea water but the dirtiest beach, I have to complain to the management for immediate clean up, too much rubbish, cig butts, etc, this was last year visit after IC stay.
I stayed at many of the hotels he has claimed were good or great and most were terrible, including this one. You actually have to rent a floating devices for the swimming pool by the hour. The beach is filthy, construction to to left of the hotel is a noisy eyesore and much more. But this is the typical experience in Phu Quoc which is a total wreck. Do NOT waste your time or money in Phu Quoc.

The island used to be part of Cambodia. The food must have been much better then 😂
Loving the past couple of Phu Quoc videos. Like you said, probably wouldn’t travel across the globe just to visit, but would definitely check it out on a layover or something. Added the other Phu Quoc hotels on the list already

Interesting- not a peep while I was there!
Alcatraz vibe for $117 works for me. With that price I can afford to stay for a whole week. Thanks for the video.
Haha fair enough!
Nice video - going to book a few nights right now, looks extremely good value -- and the only IHG property near Vinwonder/safari.
Yes, everyone else knows good and well to stay away lol

Yah, on a beautiful day, I'd love a nap on that balcony!
What do you do for living? You spend so much on travel.... I wish to travel but....
This lol
Amazing price point for the quality 🎉 , thanks for sharing 😊
Spot on! Thanks for watching 🩴
Not the lobby whisper, ahah -- love the review!
I'm touched that you think my memory is good enough to remember a whisper from many months ago haha 😂

It’s all royalty free music, I’d be surprised if it’s all even on Spotify. And yes, I’ve chosen the in flight menu multiple times.

Glad to hear Platinum status will get you better treatment than more popular places.

Not review related but I really appreciate the Artlist names - it's so difficult to find music on there sometimes. Thank you.
Yes quite often royalty free music has multiple titles/artists/versions… so trying to make it easier! Thanks for watching 🩴
Could of said it opened yesterday, that hotel looked immaculate, great review again.
Appreciate that!
Really good video and explanation.Tq

hope we can get more review for Malaysia lux resorts, for example, O&O@Desaru, Riz Calton@Langkawei
Coming up, but don't hold your breath for timing lol.

You must be looking during peak periods. The BKK-PQC nonstop is typically ~$100 each way.

Around 95% of the time, yes.
If you have the chance sir, do a Duyen Ha Resort Cam Ranh. Thanks!!
I think I'm finished with Nha Trang and Cam Rang until something significant opens!
Check out Avani properties, Kevin. I thought they were pretty good for the price. Stayed at two in Bangkok and one in Pattaya in Thailand.
Have one on the channel 🙃
Isn't it amazing what the Vietnamese are doing? Quality, classic-modern design, clean... miles ahead of other countries in the region, in my opinion.
Hmmm... I shall not add a comment lol.

Entirely depends on where you're going. Plenty of resorts on the island have none of that kitsch in or around them.

I'm sure it has a bum gun as is standard in VN. If it does, it's definitly in the video.

Is that 'pristine development' Chinese funded? It looks like the new shopping malls they build here in China and no one ever actually rents the shops!
Very little development in the south of VN has Chinese funding. Near nothing actually. Just about everything on the island is funded domestically.

What is this awful fashion with non-private bathrooms? I HATE it! Who is it even for? Especially in a family-friendly resort!
