Hey Kara and Nate!! Sorry my comment is a year late! I just started watching your videos about a couple of months ago. Glad that Nate's toe is healing or is healed :). I agree with others that a small first aid kit is a good idea! Looking forward to more videos--hopefully with no injuries :P
I’m so, so late to comment on this video, but I just got the opportunity to start watching all your videos from the beginning! Kara, as a doctor I can tell you that you did a great job! But more importantly, I wanted to comment on how much kindness and love there is in this episode. From the two strangers that helped you to the obvious care that Kara took in taking care of Nate, it’s so heartwarming to see this while we medical personnel struggle through the last (hopefully) parts of this pandemic. Thank you for taking me on your journeys with you! I still have tons more videos to catch up on, but I wanted to let you know how much I’m enjoying them! ❤️
I am so glad you guys always show the realistic side of travelling, like injuries and being sick and losing things! It makes for more personal and realistic videos and I love that!!
Hi Kara and Nate, I know this vlog is quite a while ago, but I really have to say: we love the way u describe the food and its flavor. it is so cute, so honest and so understandable, that one kind of gets the impression of biting it ourselves. u do such a great job, and being one of the first 100.000 subscribers, i do love to see how the number is constantly growing!! u deserve it, u make such a great effort, such a great job. there is nothing better in life than being able to do what u love most!! We adore the two of u and we'll stay tuned - big thanx from Mathias and fam, Jena Germany
Aww, Nate. That toe looked pretty bad. I'm so sorry it happened to you. I hope it didn't take too long for it to heal. Please take care of yourself. We love you. * Hugs * By the way, Kara, I said this before when you were in Kenya, and I'm saying it again. If there ever comes a time for you to settle into a different type of job, you have a way about you. You'd be a natural in the medical field. You are so soothing and seem comfortable in working with people that are sick or injured.
I always wanted to be a nurse! Started freshman year of college with the prerequisite sciences, then quickly changed to education 😂 if I could go back I would have stuck with it!
Wow, really? I'm not surprised. That is so evident in the way you are. I've seen it time and time again in your vlogs. Anyone can have the knowledge and the skill, but not everyone has the temperament. That's inherent and can't be learned. If you guys ever retire from your traveling days, I hope you consider going back to it. It's never too late, and to find something you enjoy, and are good at, is not always easy. ❤❤
@@FireCracker3240 I was thinking the same thing. Kara, you did so well at the medical tents in Kenya getting the worms out of people's feet. So calm and collected. I would have been beyond squirm-ish! (pun intended)
Lolol. It really stinks that Nate hurt his toe, but I cannot help but crack up when he says "I'm okay!". Kara says "no you're not". Nate replies with "SUUURE!" in about 4 octaves higher than normal. Hahaha. Has me dying!! He so was not okay, but being the good Nate that he is, still tries to reassure Kara.
Hope you get better soon Nate! And such a lovely wifey Kara for nursing him so well:) Stay safe and guys you do not need to be sorry for not showing us around, better be safe than sorry ok:) tc xx
i found you guys recently and i am now going back and watching all of your older videos! i love you guys! you both are so sweet and caring, and i love your videos!
I always love your food tours. And I hope your toe heals really fast so you can enjoy walking around a lot more. Oh, Kara's expression when you said "ouch" at the end was priceless. Love the chemistry between the both of you.
I’m a fan, and I like most of your content but my favourite part is watching Kara’s love of food and her passion for coffees thanks for the hour of enjoyment
You guys were so lucky!! Did'nt anyone warn you NOT to go to Cerro San Cristobal with that camera at that time of the day??? Many people get robed when they are coming down the hill. Just warning you (trust me, I've lived in Santiago my whole life). 👍🏻. Love your videos by the way 😀
Well, I did go up to Cerro San Cristobal with my camera and took a lot of photos as I walked down the hill. No issues or whatsoever. I guess I accidentally picked the right time when lot of locals rode the bikes and jogged up and down the road leading to Cerro San Cristobal.
Why chileans love to be scared and scare others? Santiago is a very safe city. You only have to be careful as in any other big city. I've been hundreds of times on San Cristobal hill, never had any trouble at all. In fact, there's a lot of security there.
I am so very very sorry for the injury!! So glad there were kind people. You really needed stitches. But so glad you healed reading from the comments below...
Omg Kara is so cute and so kind and has the most positive spirit ever! Nate and her are so awesome together and have such couple goals.....literally..you guys have been traveling the WORLD for two years!! You guys should win a best couple award
Aww I feel for Nate. I literally almost faint (like NO vision unless I lay down) whenever I see blood (anyone's, in person or not, even hearing blood/gore stories sometimes [think 6th grade Edgar Allen Poe stuff]). I'm glad nurse Kara was there to help you out! ☺️
Okay, so I KNOW I have nothing to say about Kara's face, but I have to say I LIKE that she is back to the fresh-face look. When you first headed South from Nashville I was thinking, "What's with the extra make-up?" You're young and it can't be fun walking around in the heat in make-up. Now you're both back to looking like casual tourists. There are enough high-maintenance Americans floating around.
So glad Nate is ok.... Does it make me a bad person that I was laughing at Nate trying to deal with his blood?? Man... that toe was just *MESSED UP!* ;) Hope you have a speedy recovery!
OMG, Kara you remind me so much of my wonderful daughter which is why I think I watch your vlog. My daughter is an ICU nurse for heart an lungs (where the action is) at SLC University Utah. She lives near Park City, so she is an adventurer in her own right. She is like you in that she is willing to try just about anything and can handle anything. You need to go meet her and check out the adventure where she lives. I really think you would hit it off and she would give you great advice for things like this.
A sign of true love!! My husband flipped over his handlebars biking the week before we flew to England and skinned his palms and hip crazy deep. I was bathing him for several days because his hands were so bad. Flying with open wounds is not fun!
I'm from Santiago, and the "loco" shouldn't be tough! hahaha they cooked it the wrong way. When you do it properly its very soft and delicious. Funny to see you in my town! Cheers to you two!
Hi Nate - hope your toe recovers soon! You should wear sneaker all the times to protect your feet and walk more comfortable. Love you two's vlogs- keep up your great works!
you guys are possibly the cutest couple on UA-cam. Kara looks with so much love at you it's heartwarming. Loving the vlogs and hope u to get better soon!:)
Hey Kara and Nate, one day I was washing dishes at Cracker Barrel, and I picked up a very full bus tub, and a glass fell off and broke, next thing I knew, I stepped on the glass and I was bleeding all the way from the dishroom to the breakroom, and the breakroom, it is as small as a closet in there
Hey Kara and Nate! I know you went to Chile a while ago but I have to add that you were actually eating the humitas wrong you actually have to eat them on a plate and I eat them with sugar and tomatoes on it but some people don’t like it like that. Just so you know if you go there again! Love you both so much❤️
Thanks for giving the "3...2...1 look away blood warning" Peter had to look away! haha! So sorry that happened to you - Injuries on the road are terrible!
Hey we know the pain of travel sometimes. For my wife and I it was Lu Village in China and then Gori in Rep of Georgia. Oh and I forgot the week of being sick in Dubai. lol
I'm sorry you busted your big toe like that, I'm sure it healed nicely since it was about 5 years ago and now you're walking just fine. The reason for terrible sidewalks in Chile is because although Chileans pay several taxes and fees for their work repairs, the government is unable/willing to maintain the roads due to a combination of corruption, mismanagement and constantly having earthquakes. The past 2 decades have seen some serious protests by students (specially frequent in that neighborhood you stayed at) that do to tear up the rocks and pavement chunks from the roads so they can throw them at the police force. Some of those very same students are now members of Congress, state chairs and even the president of Chile. Great video series on Santiago centro, y'all made me feel like I was back there. Thanks! ✊🏾
The sea snail Nate had for lunch looked so nasty. Kudos to you for trying it. I would have passed as soon as I tried cutting it and it was that firm. Kara's food looked tasty though. This reminds me of the sidewalk along Jalan Tebrau in Johore Baru, Malaysia near the police HQ where they leave behind metal threaded studs 0.5 cm diameter protruding some 2 inches above the pavement !! The nicely tiled sidewalk is clean & better looking than what i see in your video in Chile BUT if ones hits those metal screw studs especially if walking at nite with slippers where lighting not bright it simply spoils the experience of what's otherwise a quite pleasant city walk there. Crazy to think why the workers didn't remove (maybe save costs ?) the unused studs built onto the pavement but unknowingly to those in-charge that creates surprising hazards for pedestrains !
Oh man i get so squeamish when it comes to blood! I have a really good imagination and read a book one time that described a leg injury too in-depth and I had to lay on the floor! Cold sweats, room spinning, the whole thing! Craziness lol
Oh' my baby, Nate did you have a complete healing of your wound? My heart went out to you. In the future, I've notice whenever I traveled where the sidewalk sucks, I usually would walk on the street-it's usually much smoother given cars have to traverse the streets and cars can't afford to get messed up. I noticed that the sidewalks were badly broken up in Buenos Aires, too. I also stepped in a hole in a Madrid sidewalk, fell and broke my toe! It ruined my vacation! I had to go home because I could not put weight on the foot!
:-o Omg Nate, I thought it was a bruised toe. Good thing about the warning, because i wasnt expecting all this blood. I'm glad your okay now, Kara did a fine job there too ;-) Be safe!
Sorry to say I was somewhat amused by your pain. I think I was more entertained than I would have been by the sunset. Love your videos. Soldier on. Stay safe.
Nate's toe is healing nicely! Thank you for your prayers and nice comments! He's going to be fine without stitches and my TLC ❤😉
Kara and Nate prayers.? Lol. That's overdoing it...
:)
Prayers work miracles. =)
It's really helpful to have a little bottle of hydrogen peroxide in your first aid kit: its antiseptic and it helps stop blood.
