2010 Lincoln MKS. Hover cars don't yet exist. Until they arrive well have to settle for cars that park themselves. Lexus was the first to offer a self-parking feature for its LS flagship but in real-world use the system proved too complicated for most drivers. For the 2010 model year Lincoln is introducing its own far simpler self-parking system dubbed Active Park Assist. In this video KBBs Micah Muzio gives the self-parking Lincoln MKS a spin to see if the automatic parking car has finally evolved from gimmicky novelty to useful technology. - Авто та транспорт
I know it wasn't a real spot but I just wanted to see how close it would be to an actual curb in a real life situation.
The fact that you needed to explain that shows why we need the system in the first place xD
Assisted parallel park - the MKS is about as long as one and a half Lexus RX350's (the SUV you saw behind it) - so it needs the two nose-in spots to park properly!
Why would you try to parallel park in a head-in parking space?
Been in a new Australian-spec Ford Focus Titanium with this Active Park Assist technology - I think it's a good idea! With the Focus' APA, it controls all steering, unlike in the MKS where it doesn't!
But! Who came out with that feature first? The only thing Lincoln did, was just copy the idea and improve on it. Toyota/ Lexus,BMW pave the way for many luxury cars in terms of technology and comfort. You will definitely see improvement in that feature in a different brand next year some time.
It only does parellel parking. Right now, companies are trying to make the really parking assist.
WOW Compared to that Fit and RX the MKS looks like a MONSTER!
but with lexus you dont have to back and and move forward all u do is press the brakes
...and wouldn't ya know it, the thing parked next to a Lexus.
btw...what ever happened to the days when people actually knew how to DRIVE, let alone park???
nice... and if you left your car like that, you might get a ticket lol. but seriously yea this can be useful in some really packed parking in busy cities, where you have to parallel, it's a bitch without having a rear camera or any sensing gadgets in your car unless it's tiny.
Yes, but Lincoln waited until they could make a system that was easy to use and actually worked. Lincoln's system parks 3 times faster, 3 time more consistently, and half a foot closer to the curb than the system Lexus uses, and unlike Lexus', Lincoln's system isn't affected by fog, rain, or traffic conditions. So yeah, in the spirit of American engineering, if we didn't invent it ourselves, we took the crap that someone came out with and made it 10x better.
The footage is like from Cloverfield.
wow, it parked itself into two spots instead of one,... wtf!?
ppl on youtube are slow u should have called it parallel parking assist. but it did look cool.
that's supposed to be ironic right?
So many haters here. That will never be able to buy even used one
Umm....parking FAIL.
You're supposed to park between the white lines not across them.....
I don't understand while he didn't just go to a street and test the parallel parking in a more real situation.
Gorgeous car but WTF? Automatic Parking is all well and good but ya know I prefer my vehicles in...oh I dont know....actual parking spaces. I can see how the filthy animals at Lexus could have gotten this concept wrong but come on Lincoln. This vid must be just a joke. It can park itself but can't actually locate a parking spot? Am I missing something here?
