I traded in my S21 Ultra 5G (Exynos) for the S22 Ultra (Snapdragon) because the former wouldn't connect to US 5G towers. The S22 Ultra was a great phone. It served me well in the US, Europe, and Asia. Then I upgraded once again to an S24 Ultra about a month ago because I wanted the 7 years' worth of Android support and the flat screen. It's faster than the S22U, but it's not a huge difference. Every subsequent upgrade has felt increasingly more incremental. Knowing this and hearing of the leaked S25 Ultra specs, I don't think I'll be missing out on anything. I want to go back to owning these devices for 3+ years if possible.

i never ever use cases of foil. engineers designed the screen and body to resist decent impacts and this is also why these device cost much more. phone cases are so ridiculous, dirty, bulky, not elegant at all 👎moreover the screen protection surely degrades the visibility of your screen. my s22u had its orginal glass protection for some days but i had to remove it. my eyes felt the lower quality of visibility
I love the models with the Note like edges more than the rounded ones. That was the reason I switched to Samsung in the first place because it was something different. I think they look better, feel better, and offer a bit more display. Currently, I have the Galaxy S23 Ultra, so now I can only go for the S24 Ultra, but after that, Samsung is going for the same design as everyone else. Very unfortunate.
For the first time in a decade, after buying the S23 Ultra two years ago, I didn't upgrade to the S24 last year. I realized that the iterative changes from one year to the next no longer warrant annual upgrades at a cost of $1k+. Further, the overhyped "AI" crap is mostly about software. I laughed at how much they played up the S24 for the AI stuff, but then a couple months after the S24 came out, an OS update was released for the S23 with all of the same AI stuff. And spare me from the arguments about the iterative hardware updates enabling the AI crap. So what?...The S24 can apply AI effects to a photo in 2 seconds instead of the S23 taking 3 seconds? Yeaaaah...ok. While I'm ranting, what's the deal with the hype over case colors and weight reductions? For the love of God, the first thing EVERYONE does when getting a new phone is put a case on it, making the backside of the phone's color irrelevant. And single digit grams of weight reduction? Seriously? Who in the world lists phone weight as a concern these days? Also, the S25 hype around the rounded edges making the phone more comfortable to handle? Who THE HELL is using their S Ultra phone without a case to where this would in any way matter? We're all paranoid about phone damage and everyone slaps on a bulky case right after activation. The singular reason I might get the S25 Ultra is because the battery in my S23 Ultra has severely degraded in capacity. A great example of planned and intentional obsolescence being built into battery design. As for the reputed hardware improvements in the S25 Ultra, I'm completely unexcited when comparing to the S23 Ultra. Any differences will lose meaning 15 minutes after activating the phone. Samsung is overindexed on the AI hype at the expense of hardware evolution. For example, instead of developing meaningful evolution in camera tech, they're focused on applying AI to images taken with existing camera tech. Something about this doesn't sit right with me. It feels like a cheap shortcut. Instead of taking a "real" image with improved capture of the "real" data through better lenses and sensors, they want to apply AI to synthesize something that "looks better." The cheapness of this AI crap was laid bare with the scandalous revelation a couple years ago that Samsung was literally faking images of the Moon by having the software recognize when the Moon was in the picture and artificially applying lunar landscape details - making it seem like your device captured that actual detail. This never sat right with me and to this day has put me off from the AI hype.

1st.remove the expandable storage slot like apple 2.remove included charger 3.remove Bluetooth support from the S Pen 4.remove the trademark boxy edge design What a let down & downgrade, Very very disappointing by samsung
I have an S23U and honestly hate the squared off corners. It makes it really hard to put the phone in my pocket when in sitting down and can be very uncomfortable when sitting down as well. The corners tend to stick my thigh. I'm also really looking forward to not having a curved edge screen. I've been dealing with that nonsense since 2019...I had a P30 Pro.
I have a Galaxy S21 Ultra. I plan to upgrade to the S25 U. I, personally, am glad to see the return of the subtle rounded edges to the S25 Ultra. One point was made about the 45-watt charging speed for the battery. I don't consider that a distraction, especially if you tend to hold on to your be for a few years; slower charging speeds will help prolong the life of the battery. For me, I actually consider this a plus.
For me, China is a powerhouse and will create really amazing things, smartphones, foldable devices and other things. Other manufacturers or brands should learn from them. Samsung has fallen into self-admiration and thinks that it does not have to do anything, but it has been doing the same for 5 years, even with the battery, still 5000 mAh, as with 25 watts or 45 watts charging, and they are standing where the competition is giving us more for less money.
I have the S21 Ultra and bought it when it launched. So, notwithstanding this list of 5 reasons to maybe not buy the S25, should I get the S25 Ultra? I am happy with the S21 and it works like it did when I bought it, so for me, I am not looking to get a new phone, but might security updates and related items be a big enough reason to get the S25? Thank you.
Jeff Thank You for sharing.I definitely want to know about New device's.Looking forward to seeing and hearing more.Happy New Year's hope your holidays were great.💯✌️⛄
I will not be upgrading. Samsung's minimal upgrades coupled with increased pricing mirror Apple's strategy. While AI enhancements are appreciated, I require more substantial improvements in the features I frequently utilize.
Well considering it has not even been released yet do you not think that your comments are a bit premature? 10 reasons not to buy the Galaxy S40 Ultra! 100 reasons to take no notice of anything you have to say! Would be a more honest video.
My reasons to buy S25U: 1. SD 8 Elite 2. Antireflective screen 3. Love the round edges can use it finally without case 4. 50mp UW 5. Wife wants my S23U since she has S22 with Exynos and Battery sucks hard
Great content. I've been watching your channel for years, and not once have I heard you say you got to get this new phone. Now, for me, I was thinking about getting the s25 ultra, but I changed my mind and got the s24 ultra in titanium violet. I've had square off phones since the note 20 ultra. I just love how professional it looks, even when in a case. So I traded in my s23 ultra got 800 off and only paid 400 though T-Mobile which runs me with 360 insurance 40 bucks a month. Much easier to handle than forking out all that money at once. I hope the s25 ultra crushes the market when it comes out.
Even though cellphone innovation has hit a plateau, Samsung is milking it for what it's worth. "If people are suckers, take advantage." It's the ultimate business strategy that maximizes profits.. If they offer a good trade in deal for S22 Ultra, I might trade up, sell the brand new unopened unit for as much as I can, & start back finding whatever used phones I can 2nd hand for a deal & use those. So much more variety & so much more fullfilling.
I'm Korean American. I think he didn't know Samsung created a new camera to put in the Ultra, and it's much lighter than last year. That is why you have to check Korean news also to buy. Samsung's new processor beats the iPhone 16 pro max lot more also.
??? The S25 Ultra has only a new Ultra wide sensor, which i highlighted in the video. There is no secret Korean media news about a primary camera upgrade. I cover Samsung news for a living, I am well aware of any news coming out of Korea about Samsung Mobile.
How can you review something that hasn't even been launched yet? Or did they do a premium release for VIP to trash it on UA-cam? Most likely not. This is pretty much based on assumptions.
I have an S23 Ultra and was considering the upgrade this year to the S25 Ultra. But I am going to hold off because of concerns about the ugly smudging on the nonglare screens of the S24 series. These phones have only been out for just less than 1 year, and more than 30% have this ugly smudging problem that won't clean off. I figure the S25 series will be using this same nonglare technology and will likely develop the same problem. My S23 Ultra has been problem free since day 1, and the screen is as perfect as it was when brand new. Why take a risk on the newer phone with this potential problem?
@jspring86 Is this just a nonglare coating that could possibly be stripped away if it goes hazy and smudgy? I figure the S25 line has already been in production for some time before this issue with the S24 screens was revealed. It may already be too late to avoid this issue with the S25s. Is this a problem caused by people using the wrong products to clean their screens? Is it a reaction to the Ph of their skin oils? The survey I read showed just over 30% of S24 Ultra screens were badly damaged by this smudging. More than 20% were somewhat damaged. That left about 48% that were still as good as new. Less than 50% of this product line was in satisfactory condition less than a year out. I don't want to risk over $1200 for a product with this potential failure rate.
I am currently an iPhone user (14 pro max) and have wanted to switch back to Samsung, so I will still be buying the 25 Ultra and am excited about it. Thank you so much Jeff for making these videos and giving us insights this will make my transition back easier! I hope you and your family have an amazing 2025 ❤
Not surprising, the even numbered models are always the ones with the biggest changes. But since it's the 2020s and not the 2010s, the next big change will be with the S28 for the very least (if not S30)
Hi, what do you think is a better Android phone to consider with similar stats. Also I like how clean your phone's desktop is, do you have a video on how you personally organize your phone ?
I got myself S24U recently because I was able to get almost 20% discount on the brand new one. With selling off my Z Fold5 the price difference to the S25U would be like twice as much that isnt worth it for the minor upgrades.
I got the Fold 6 to try out this form factor and I will be trading this one in for the S25. It's a nice phone but it's missing lots of premium features but still costs more than their flagship. And that's not worth it for me, so I will switch. IDK about the Flip 6 tho
If I had cracked the screen on my s21 ultra last September. I never would have upgraded to my s24 ultra. That phone was great , minus the curved screen. But I like my24 ultra and will keep it as long as I don't break it .
Idk the Micron ram, 8 Elite and rounded corners. The SoC and ISP upgrades will make the camera feel “new” Google did it for 4ish years on the same 12MP sensor lol. This could be a banger.
So, pardon my language. But what in the hell are we getting with the s25 ultra? Looks like even if you are upgrading from years ago you would better off buying a s24 ultra and save yourself some money.
Good video and I would say probably most of it applies to the s25 Plus and the s25 who haven't gotten camera upgrade since what the s21 at least the last year on the s24 Plus we got an upgrade in the RAM and in the screen resolution but this year what are they doing? The cameras on the regular s series phones really need an upgrade they Have fallen behind the competition especially the pixel and the OnePlus phones take way better pictures

Reason #6 - The S Pen has been crippled. They have dropped the Bluetooth connectivity.
I'm going to buy S25 ultra, To me it's an upgrade over my s23 ultra.
Definitely not a bad upgrade there. I was more talking about its not a huge leap from s24 ultra. I think you'll love the phone!
@@jspring86 I love the new design and that snap dragon chip chip that now installed. I guess I'm going to feel like Bruce Lee now 😂
The reason I might not buy it is due to lack of magnetic back , face ID again😢, the new oled screen.
What's wrong with face unlock?
@@jspring86 Face id doesn't have any problem. Working like a charm. 🔥🔥
Magnetic back maybe next year.
Almost all features are same, so no need to buy this year.
@@gamingallday9225 Face id doesn't have any problem. Working like a charm. Magnetic back maybe next year. Almost all features are same, so no need to buy this year
@@joeljj2470 He meant about the IR cability, becasue the IPhone for example has the ability to make a 3d map of your face.
It sounds like you want an iPhone. 😏
imma wait at least until the s27 ultra...😂😂😂😂
Lol
1st.remove the expandable storage slot like apple
2.remove included charger
3.remove Bluetooth support from the S Pen
4.remove the trademark boxy edge design
What a let down & downgrade,
Very very disappointing by samsung
Why so sure from ur information about something is not released and having the rumours are 100% right!
Am using Note 8 it's on 7th year am definitely upgrading 😊. No one will talk me out of it😅
I have a Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Thank you.
Sharp corners. Oleophobic coating issue. Vividness issue. Brightness issue. Graininess issue. Camera shutter speed delay. Average battery performance.
Video recording zoom change smoothness. Camera HDR lighting/over-exposure issues. Price. No charger in box.
i m eager to seethis flat screen and not pointy corner style of the utra. i think i will love it
I watched this video knowing I can't afford a flagship S series 😢
Hardware: Subjective. You don't like it, I like it.
That's just like, your opinion, man.
Jeff Thank You for sharing.I definitely want to know about New device's.Looking forward to seeing and hearing more.Happy New Year's hope your holidays were great.💯✌️⛄
Happy new year to you and your family Jeff!
Happy new year! 2025 letsss gooo
The issue with these videos is most people aren't upgrading from an s24. it'll be a 22 or 23.
I just cracked the screen on my Note20 ultra 5g and am not looking forward to saying goodbye.... I wish they'd make that phone forever.
Would it be a worthwhile upgrade from the s22 ultra?
I think from s22 ultra for sure. Because from there you're getting a sizable camera upgrade in primary sensor. Also big display upgrades
oleophobic coating smudging been fixed?
The whole android system needs revamp. It can be copied and use for identity theft. Google, Microsoft, Samsung really needs to look into this.
S24 ultra is still a beast!!
I only upgrade every 3-4 years, so I'll be going up from the S21 Ultra happily
I know you've mentioned it before but I can't find the video but what app do you use for your notes that you use in every video?
Running my S10 until it refuses to live 😅
Classic!
I have an s21 ultra should I upgrade
unless you want to get the S24 Ultra. Both of those phones will last you till the decade is over
Without doubt YES get the S25 ultra
Don't fret the complainers. You're good. I appreciate your rundown of details.
I mean I hear ya but I think Samsung will improve the coating this year we shall see!!
No smudging here.
Yup my s24ultra screen CANNOT be cleaned 😅
And that's why you find a good glass screen protector...problem solved 👍
I like having the latest every year for me and my fam! Im excited for the end of the month!
I'm not buying the S25 ultra. Because they didn't do anything with the main camera.
The camera quality on the S25 Ultra will be better compared to the S24 Ultra because of the new Processor.
Awesome! Hope your signed up for our mystery box if you're in the US!! Welcome to Team Samsung!
Happy new year!!!
I have a S23 ultra I see no need to upgrade 😂
I love the square design, it sets it apart from other phones. I won't be upgrading for a few more years
So you only care what others think?
What? I like what I like
Not surprising, the even numbered models are always the ones with the biggest changes. But since it's the 2020s and not the 2010s, the next big change will be with the S28 for the very least (if not S30)
I'm not upgrading... PERIOD!
I am good with my s24, 23,23 Ultra...Done!
Definitely hear you!
Hi, what do you think is a better Android phone to consider with similar stats.
Also I like how clean your phone's desktop is, do you have a video on how you personally organize your phone ?
phone not even out yet lol
And?
Good points waiting to see what the fold 7 brings.
I got myself S24U recently because I was able to get almost 20% discount on the brand new one. With selling off my Z Fold5 the price difference to the S25U would be like twice as much that isnt worth it for the minor upgrades.
Happy New Year Jeff. A great video. Im So happy with the S24 Ultra 5G coming from my S21 Ultra 5G. Lets make 2025 awesome. Great content.
S24 Ultra is a beasssttt
Happy new year Paul!!
How you make folder look bigger?
Not enough of an upgrade, so I will stick to my S24 Ultra for another year.
Should I upgrade to the 25 ultra from the flip 6
Get the moto razor+
I got the Fold 6 to try out this form factor and I will be trading this one in for the S25.
It's a nice phone but it's missing lots of premium features but still costs more than their flagship.
And that's not worth it for me, so I will switch. IDK about the Flip 6 tho
Happy New Year Peace and Blessings for a prosperous New Year❤🎉
I'm sticking with my S23 Ultra.
Should i buy the s24u or wait for the s25u
If I had cracked the screen on my s21 ultra last September. I never would have upgraded to my s24 ultra. That phone was great , minus the curved screen. But I like my24 ultra and will keep it as long as I don't break it .
Idk the Micron ram, 8 Elite and rounded corners. The SoC and ISP upgrades will make the camera feel “new” Google did it for 4ish years on the same 12MP sensor lol. This could be a banger.
No Camera upgrade this is very disappointing 🤔🧐
So, pardon my language. But what in the hell are we getting with the s25 ultra? Looks like even if you are upgrading from years ago you would better off buying a s24 ultra and save yourself some money.
S26 ultra: magsafe, faceid
We'd welcome it!
Dang so I need to keep using my S21 Ultra, I was hoping I could upgrade this year.
Yes i don't think anyone should buy the s25 or s25+ really not a lot to see there!
After that i 'll buy the S25 ultra. Many haters means that the product is good.
