Coconut Tarts/Easy Coconut jam Tarts

    biscuit base
    250g soft butter
    1 cup sugar
    2 teaspoons vanilla essence
    2 eggs
    2 cups Selfraising flour
    2 cups Cakes flour
    30ml oil
    filling
    Apricot jam
    3/4 cup sugar
    2 cups desicated coconut
    3 Egg whites
    bake @ 180 degrees Celsius
    15-18 minutes or until golden brown

    Mmm yum.. Maasha'Allah something different egg whites mixed with the coconut.. First time I see this.. I usually just cook the coconut with water and some sugar.. I'll definitely give this a try..

      Asslm to all viewers nd dearest Gawa ❤ Masha'allah this is the real old school coconut tarts nd my favorite tart 😋 u can do so much with this pastry 👍😏 I store it , in containers in my freezer nd wen ever I get visitors I can just take out put caramel nd cream in nd all done in few seconds 😊 or any other topping of your liking 👌👍

      Hi u need the eggs in the biscuit base but u could leave out the egg whites from the coconut filling but u will need to prepare the coconut like a Hertzoggie or it will be to dry,link is below how to prepare coconut without egg whites

      Thank you for watching Claire😊 I usually keep extra dough in freezer for times when u want to make a quick dessert,I just took some from the freezer yesterday and blind baked and placed some caramel,Banana and cream once it was cold for a delicious banoffee tart.

      Cutters doesn't really have size so u will have to do it by eye,this is a standard muffin pan

    Thank you for this beautiful easy recipe.I cannot wait to taste it. However, what is cake flour? In the UK we use self raising flour for cakes. Also I couldn't hear whether you said 15 or 50 mins the pastry should rest for. Thank you again

      Hi Angela it's 2 cups selfraising flour and you could substitute the 2 cups cake flour for plain All-purpose flour and u should let it rest for 30 minutes 😊All the measurements u can find in the description box below the video,thanks so much for watching ❤

      Hi I used salted butter but I have used unsalted butter as well as margarine previously and still taste delicious but I do prefer to use real butter when making anything biscuit😊

    Dough was in the fridge or freezer? I know you said fridge but pie doughs are kept in the freeazer before it is made, so checking. Also, 15 minutes or 50 minutes in the fridge? Adding how to, to the description box will help to avoid such confusion. Thanks for sharing.

      Hi I placed my dough in the fridge for 30 minutes because it's a biscuit dough and doesn't require freezer and it's only going to bake for 15-18 minutes because the filling doesn't require long cooking,if I were to make milktart or custard cups that require long baking period I would place dough in freezer but u can place dough in freezer if u prefer I'm just showing what I did.

    Can you please tell me the recipe in grams please we don't do cups here I want to make sure I do it right with the right amount of ingredients thank you take care keep safe

      Hi 1 cup sugar is 200g,selfraising flour 1 cup is 140g,Cake flour 1 cup 120g but that is South Africa measuring cups u can use that but like I said in video do not add your flour all at once because u can always add more but can't take away,so u will double that 1 cup measurements because it's 2 cups selfraising flour and 2 cups Cake flour

      I just Google 1 cup cake flour 2 teaspoons baking powder should give u selfraising flour
