    These are great interviews. It’s rare to ask questions to get answers instead of making some point. Especially rare among college trained journalists.

    Brad! Good to see you! You were my AOIC with JD in Charlie platoon at SDVT-2. I remember the day we lost Danny. You were the first one to tell me. What a terrible day that was. 28 June 2005.

      @fightrrrrr Thank you. I was one of the Techs (not SEAL) in Brad and Danny's platoon. I didn't get to deploy with them, unfortunately. I switched to Army in 2006 and went Special Forces instead.

    We saw one of these units right after the hunter Sub dropped out of sight in Florida from Kings Bay Naval Station. We 1st got buzzed by a little bird, fully armed, came out of no where. We were only 100 feet or less watching from a campground. I told her to keep her hands up and don't move. They were looking right at us, scared and excited at the same time. I slowly raised my right arm saluted and shot the I'm cool sign. They disappeared as quickly as they came, full six man team. Then I told her to watch behind the sun
    She thought I was kidding. They operators did a quick pop up to look all around, couldn't have been a few seconds and disappeared. I was in awe the whole time. My Cousin worked hunters and boomers for many years in the Navy. Lot of Navy in my family. One of the coolest things I've ever saw. God bless you guys who do this, your truly Badass.

      Mapping, training , and in combat multiple things. Most of the time you’re doing some kinda of navigation or gear working, sometimes you just are getting dive hours in, this is based on my opinion and things I’ve heard seals say

      They will also launch off a sub near a coastline- too far to swim in.
      They can use the SDV to get to shore. Do their business and return to the sub.
      No one sees them coming that way -

    • @drfaustus72
      @drfaustus72 3 місяці тому +3

      Likely a rebreather unit made for long dives. It recycles the air you breath out. There are several kinds such as the Draeger where your offgas goes through a scrubber that filters out the CO2. On the SDV is quite possible that they plug into air canisters installed on the vehicle rather than using their own unit. I wonder how much (or little) nitrogen they ongas with these units, cuz 10 hours is a long dive. They likely stay shallow to reduce nitrogen load, but still...

      Too bulky, constant changes in pressure, you aren’t always on full face piece and are changing from one dive apparatus to another (Scuba to MK-25 to MK-16)
