Beautiful and unique interpretation. Thank you for the explanation, I learned more about this prelude than ever before and I’ve been listening and playing it for years.
Thank you so much. Very happy it was of service to you. I am happy to answer any questions. The Raindrop is a real masterpiece and I never get tired of practicing and performing it. Best wishes, Marjan
I am very grateful to Marjan Kiepura for this recording which feels like bringing you closer to Chopin's heart and mind. It also gives fascinating insights into the pianist's interpretation of the prelude. The piece clearly has a special place in Marjan's heart!
One can see that this piece holds a special place in Marjan Kiepura´s artistry. His humble approach to the “Raindrop” is with great empathy and “Feingefühl”, which makes his interpretation so overwhelming and authentic: rather taking the audience back to Mallorca and recapture the atmosphere that Chopin experienced when he wrote this piece than trying to project his own emotional feelings. Dziękuję Ci bardzo, Marjan!
I'm in the process of refining the Raindrop prelude, and this tutorial has proven to be of immense value in helping me bring out the voices in measures 28-75, it was such a gift to see this video after your original Raindrop UA-cam video posted 9 years ago that inspired me to learn the piece. Thank you for making your talent so accessible!
Hello Darrin, thank you so much for your comment. Yes, bars 25-75 are powerfully rich in melodic and dramatic possibilities. II may ever be of assistance with any questions, feel free to reach out. Very much appreciate your thoughts. Best wishes for your performing the Raindrop prelude. Marjan Kiepura
I am so happy to see and hear you play and speak about Chopin Mr. Kiepura! It is difficult to speak of favorite pieces in regards to Chopin's music, but if I had to choose it would be the Raindrop Prelude. I can feel the rain listening to your playing. I pray you and your family are well and healthy! Merry Christmas to you and a Blessed New Year!
Thank you so much dear Amy. Your comments are heartfelt and make my day. Wishing you also a blessed holiday season and New Year. Thank you again, Marjan Kiepura
Very happy you like it. I wish you success in working on the Raindrop Prelude, it's great work of art. I am happy to answer any questions if I may ever be of some assistance. Marjan Kiepura.
What a great & beautiful explanation sir. I played classical myself & I get many lessons from your explanation how to interpret a song. May God bless you and your family sir. Greeting from Surabaya City - Indonesia
Love the discussion of this work. I’ve continued to work on my interpretation and performance of this work, but found this revealed so much more than I can imagine. Thanks for the generous sharing of Insight and performance tips. You are a treasure.
Thanks and happy my explanations were useful. I did cover tempo possibilities in my narrative from 8:00 minutes to 10:00. I took the pace that is right for me. But I also offered suggestions on different tempi which are fully acceptable when performing this piece. I even encouraged playing it slower and gave examples. I would recommend recording yourself on an iPhone or other device to see where you want to be in your own performances. And happy to answer any other questions you may have.
Beautiful, and an excellent interpretation. Unfortunately just does not hit the spot for me. I found the speed and consistency lost my emotional attention. Everyone has there own task.
You are correct, everyone has there own task. I did address the speed, as in my tempo versus other possibilities. So there are valid interpretive options available. It must feel right for you. Thanks for tuning in! Best wishes, Marjan Kiepura
Hi there im sorry to say but did you needed to catch a bus r train? Its so fast? And again sorry, but the romantic story behind this Prelude is ( sadly) false. This Prelude is not even witten in Mallorca
Thank you for reaching out. I did not say Chopin “composed” the Raindrop prelude in Mallorca. I said Chopin traveled to Mallorca and was “working” on this prelude. The story of Chopin imagining hearing the monks chanting, was right out of George Sand’s personal diary. The question of tempo is extensively covered in my narrative from 8:00 minutes to 10:00. I stressed that I was offering merely “suggestions” as to different tempi which are fully possible when performing this piece. I even encouraged playing it slower for those who wish to do so, and gave examples. And, that “Sostenuto” is an indication of slower but not necessarily “slow”. The pace I took was right for me. For others it might be different - and that is totally fine. Thanks for tuning in and happy to answer any other questions you may have.
@@PatriaProductions Hello🤗 Thank you for your reply ( you are correct about Chopin hearing the monks chanting indeed George Sand wrote that herself. And i wanna say sorry for my negative comment ( i should not said that, im really sorry for that sir ) the fact you give this reply on my comment says everything about you ) so again im really sorry for my behavior i really respect you. I wish you the best and a good day 🤗 greetz Jessica

Wunderbar. Regen wie Tränen und der Sturm wie pure Verzweiflung.

As always - wonderful !
Thank you so much. Your comment is very meaningful to me! Marjan Kiepura
Wonderful discussoin. 12:05 sounds exactly like the beginning of Berceuse in D flat.
Thanks for your comment . About 12:05, you are correct. Marjan Kiepura
A wonderful service to students of the piano. Makes me regret that I abandoned it in 1965 at age 14...
Thank you for your comment. It's never too late! Marjan Kiepura
Thank you

very thankful for your explanations. I just struggle with the speed and I wish the piece was more relaxed and not so much in a rush

I prefer to play it slower like being in a dream.
