A hillbilly swapping in a dirty ol 12 valve into an old Ford, and you're gonna fix the cruise control? Mad props, cruise is one of those things some people don't know to appreciate. I couldn't live without...
Glad to see ol sawed off posting again. What also works for drilling upside down as if you have a spare floor jack. Put the Jack underneath the drill and then you just put a little bit of pressure at a time on the jack 👌
This is the one a old timer showed me 50 years ago, kids look at me like I’m dumb when I see em struggling & try to pass it down, glad someone else learned it somewhere
It would’ve been best to beat in the firewall over number 6 cylinder so the valve cover can be removed easily in the future for valve lash adjustment. Also the corner of the tunnel to gain for room for the down pipe from turbo. I did this to my OBS swap and it does make a difference. Good luck on the swap, you will not be disappointed. 👍🏼
I did a 24 v swap in a 2003 ford and used the diesel conversion kit and everything went well. So good to see u posting and so sorry bout all the bad luck. Such a sweet old ford crew cab
That headliner will never go back in. Ask me how I know! Yeah it’s louder and hotter during the summer, but you can also hold up papers and important documents with magnets! Just be sure you lose all the important ones while you’re flying down the road with the windows down! Glad to see you back
Looks good sawed off. This is my plan when my 6.4 dies in my F550. It wont be long....it already blows the oil cap off when u unscrew it. Glad u got it running good.
Can’t you slap a smaller rear gear in it? Being friends with old peg, I’m sure it would be cheaper than a new set of tires?, unless you need them anyway
@GRANITEMONUMENT I'm pretty sure it is working. It pushes oil in to the turbo inlet, so I think the motor is just living on borrowed time. I need to do the ccv mod just to keep the oil out of the intercooler.
The floor shifter's if the screw's are rusted beyond using a screw driver, take a drill and drill the head off from the screw with a bit that is just bigger than the screw head or so close that you can pull up on the plastic and break the head off them.
If you do enough drilling, Walter makes a low profile magnetic drill for drilling inside I beams and truck frames, i use them sometimes for drilling out broken bolts on excavator undercarriages. They work great. They are only about 8" tall so they work upside down easy.
Looks good. Just a couple weeks ago I bought my first Ford, a project truck. 1997 F250 4x4 with a 1997 12V Cummins. It isn't done but it looks like I missed out on having some fun with the front end. I have to finish the AC and I may redo the turbo and associated piping. My truck also has 2008 F250 axles with front coil springs - probably not necessary. I'll run taller tires as well even though I think my axles have 3.73 gears. My '03 Dodge has 3.55 gears, 6-speed and 33" tires. It pulls my 18,000# RV trailer no problem. I do wish my Ford had the 6 speed. Anyway, thanks for the video. Minty.
Finally a video man where you been. You and zip ties are the only ones I wait to watch a video of and y’all don’t make enough. What’s going on with that.
Did you figure out the issues? I have a 98 12v truck and i was dealing with this same issue and it all boiled down to fuel pressure. I put an airdog 165gph pump on it and solved the problem. Runs perfect no hesitation or stumbling. These ppumps really need 35+ psi. Mine is turned way up and has bigger sticks turbo gov springs etc so i was recommended to run 45psi fuel pressure. Additionally its really easy to wire the factory dodge fuel shut off if ya want id be happy to help!
If my cheap 93 crew cab idi doesn’t work after I redo the head gaskets I’m sourcing a Cummins for it. Only have 456 dollars into it total since my friend didn’t want to see the truck scrapped and or parted out. I only need a return line kit and head bolts and thermostat and water pump gaskets then it’s onto reassembly. Already bought the head gasket kit and the used heads
Enjoyable video mate. Sorry to hear of your bathroom problems or is does that sound too personal. Perseverance saves the day on the motor swap, well done 👍👍👍👍
Awesome I just picked up a 1991 f-superduty crewcab conversion with a 175 inch wheelbase. I wanting to doing something crazy like shoehorn a 6.6 ford brazilian diesel in it
i got the same exact turbo i used the 12 valve manifold drilled out the bolt holes on it and just used longer bolts and nut's, i used a drain plug from a 241 transfer case to plug where the solenoid goes, and made a custom manually adjustable spring gate, the things mint, does 40lbs of boost ez pz. only problem is a i got a rustbox dodge would love to swap a 12 valve into a k2500 or a 2015ish chevy 2500
Just in case you didn't know, (you likely do) you can get a factory Ford tach cluster, and the wiring is already setup from the factory for it. Literally plug and play. You just take your center section out (with the odometer), and swap it over to the new cluster to keep things "legal". There's no need to do the hillbilly aftermarket, screws in the dash big pod tachometer like so many guys do.😂
Little tip for ya guys, I have a 1992 dodge VE pump 12 valve. I have 3.54 gears and standard 5 speed trans on 31.5” tire. If you want a higher top speed for cheap put 3200 or 4000rpm governor springs in the pump. World of a difference. Im able to get up to 90mph with my truck on 31.5 tires.
Sweet rig! That 12 valve is gonna be fun but in my opinion a DT360 would have been awesome. In my neck of the woods a DT360 is cheaper than a 12 valve so naturally I favor the DT360 plus it's a wet sleeve cylinder design.
Weight and issues with adapting a transmission seem to be what keeps the DT’s from getting swapped into pickups more often. In a 2wd it’s not too hard, but in a 4wd you’ve got to either be / know a good machinist to build adapters or go to a divorced T-case, build mounts and a shifter linkage for it and run a medium duty trans. IH actually put a few early “D series” inline 6 diesels in 3/4-1ton trucks back in the 60’s….that was called a D301 and was a parent bore version of a smaller sleeved engine as I understand it. They only built a handful and Today those trucks are rare but man are they cool.
Saying of coolant temp sensor in the heater hose, my 300 has the temp sensor in the same place. Works just fine. Great showing otherwise fella, hope all is well in the basement now.
Very nice. YOu have the huevos to do it? Great on you, young man. If only I was young enough, I'd yank my 6.0 which is running great at the moment, and throw in a 12/24 valve. Which ever wouldn't matter to me. Just one like yours, all mechanical. Great to see your build.
my 887 pump (215hp) 12v set up, it likes around 30psi of fuel pressure up on the highway, and thats with the stock mechanical pump, tweak the OF valve spring on the pump to bump the fuel pressure. i've had good luck with bosch 330hp marine injectors and they played nice with the stock turbo and stock fuel plate full forward, and with a #10 plate 3/4 forward, any more than that and it would blot out the sun and egt would get toasty, its got a turbonetics stage 1 ball bearing turbo and that turns a lot more of the soot into power. i set the timing with a dial indicator kit, mine is happy at 16.5 degrees (2 more than stock) when i got the truck they tried to set it with the pin and it was like 4 degrees retarded and ran like shit, would belch white smoke and backfire like a cannon till it got some heat in the motor, the twin ram banks intake i lucked into for half price actually dropped the egt's/smoke more than a little, so its good for something, i gotta imagine the cheapo versions do the same thing, i split my grid heater, but maybe up in the land of ice and snow you may want two, in loserana split works fine, cold as hell here is 22f a fun toy if you can find one is a gearvender overdrive, took my 4:10 70mph speed from 2250 to 1750-1800 with a nv4500, can split gears too for fun or hauling, at 2k for a used kit, its my favorite mod after the odd 50% more power its got
Isn’t that plate that is missing in the pump, isn’t that where that live tuner gets installed… I know pdd has done some videos on that area of the pump
I know exactly how you feel when I comes to trying to get shit done around the house and shop when you are working every day it suxs and projects take for ever
Big shout out from Texas awesome Truck!.....im currently almost finished with my swap....1994 f350 zf5 4x4 12 valve....i do have a question.....how to get the tachometer to work as far as wiring?....any advice would be greatly appreciated!.....Y'all stay warm up there!
Thanks, i have friends in texas, beautiful place, you cant use the factory crank pickup as its 5 volt and needs the dash module, you can get a crank pickup model or one that runs off the alternator, i havent done that yet either...cheers
Fuck yeah bud glad to see you back !! Fuckin epic video so watching it a second time 🤣🤣 love ya vidyas and eagerly await your next one. Keep er in the ketchup bud
I see that someone's attended Ariel level 1 training 👀 I got that same cap on your dash from my attendance to Ariel level 1 training.. are you a gas compression tech too?

As for the intercooler I would’ve used a 6.7 Powerstroke intercooler that’s an Air/Water design. Get a 2nd smaller radiator to put where the intercooler would go that would cool off the intercooler cooler than the stock dodge one, & u could put dry ice in to get colder. Unless ur up north then u might need to use legit coolant, & not just water. Water tank-pump-intercooler-radiator I’ll be doing that on my IDI because a turbo is a lot of work to do it right. Yes i learned that the hard way...next time
My 95 f250 has 198k miles and still is like a brand new 460. Love ❤️ it

Worth the wait, the truck came out just minty, what an absolute unit.
love the fact that you explain what you're doing as your doing it 👌 minty asf
She’s so mint keep getting her better faster and sweeter and keep the rust off and she’ll be super valuable
Good shit man, glad to see you back.
Hey Yvon of the Yukon! Good job!
Man, I love your videos! I watch all your guys stuff. Really cool to see other Canadian mechanics givin er!
Great episode. I appreciate the digestible way of explaining.
I try but im no wizard at it, i fumble my way through which is how most people do it so at least its relatable...cheers
That shot when you went over the camera was mint. Thanks for the video and I hope the house troubles come out alright. 🍺

Thanks but i dont want to rev it...35s will look good on a crewy longbox anyway...
@@captaindipchit right on! I need 35’s…
Run a bhaf for your air filter. It’s a big rig air filter and works great

Peg would be proud of this ScrewCab SchlongBox creation
I've heard a 6.4 starter has more starting power and speed. Should save on those cold starts
I also used the stock manifold but flipped it upside down with the stock turbo
Id swap axles to 3.55 or 3.73 ratio. I have a 96 f350 with 4.10 gears and 35s and im still running 2500 rpm going 70 mph
Nice build man ole cummins dumpster makin that furd move better then ever!!
Very nice. YOu have the huevos to do it? Great on you, young man. If only I was young enough, I'd yank my 6.0 which is running great at the moment, and throw in a 12/24 valve. Which ever wouldn't matter to me. Just one like yours, all mechanical.

sweet spot seemed to be around 28-34 in my testing, been at 34 for about 13-14 years with the same lift pump and everything else @@captaindipchit
Hope your house turns out fine after everything is taken care of.
Great to see you saw it off frenchman another fummins for the world.... The good thing you did a Dodge delete on that Cummins+!!+++😆😆😆😆😆😂😂😂😂
Isn’t that plate that is missing in the pump, isn’t that where that live tuner gets installed… I know pdd has done some videos on that area of the pump
P pumps need around 60psi lift pump pressure. And you don’t have to have the fuel plate in the pump.
Awesome video even if it’s ungreased! Thanks for posting
Fuck yeah buddy, visiting Peg must be minty!! Nice truck!
Use a floor jack under the drill for a drill press
Did you port match the manifold? Doing this swap right now and would like to know if it matters.
How many days this take ya? been thinking about doing one next summer when I purge off a couple rigs
Looks like a kickass rig 👍👍👍
I know exactly how you feel when I comes to trying to get shit done around the house and shop when you are working every day it suxs and projects take for ever
Every time I see one of these Fumins swaps it makes me want to stick one in a Lincoln or caddy for road tripping. But I'm not right.
Finally posted holy shit
Do you have the measurements for the pedistals for the intercooler?
👍👍 right on man... Nice rig .....see ya next time 👊
Nice swap, now you get to fix the house
wonder if a 94 intercooler and front end would of been better

A 7.3 idi clutch disk and pressure plate will bolt right up to a 12v flywheel. Why are you drilling and tapping it? Just curious.
Mine did not...not sure why
I didn’t think 10 psi for that electric pump is enough pressure. Pretty sure the mechanical lift pump is 30+psi. That would make it run like ass
could be the overflow valve on that injection pump
Liter of oil? I'm not sure we sell liter of oil... Sweet rig !
sawed off Frenchman does it again!!
Aw man that flood really fucking sucks. On top of everything else too. Holy shit.
Hows the project superstroke doing?
What’s up with the ATC 250r?
anyway you could share the dimensions of that bumper with a feller if you have them?
There are no dimentions to share... it isnt perfectly simmetrical, i just built frame posts and added steel until it ressembled a bumper...halfassery

Built a hard pipe down to a 90 and used some of the factory ford hos
I agree with you, the 12 valve cummins is a much better engine, m9re reliable and cheaper on parts. And with 250k km it's only just tun in 😅
6.9 parts are pretty cheap
Can’t mold if it is steam
You gotta buy a lathe mate.
With a 4 jaw lathe you can turn a square.
how much are you into this swap? been thinking about doing it on my ford as well
Total swap im not sure, price of engine plus 4000$ about...canadian dollars
so is that an IDI and Dodge Delete?
cool
Whatcha gonna do with the Powersmoke yall have in yer shop?
Not sure...nothin yet
